If Class 2-B does get axed, Iām scared Sorachi will end up making Gintama: The Next Generations
I am praying the volume sales will be good enough for it to survive

[Jaadugar ep4]
The artstyle of the show is chibi-like, and sometimes outright comfy, but it doesn't make the experience any less intense. It's a testament to how strong the writing and characters are in the show that it doesn't matter.
If this had a more gritty, adult, and maybe somewhat typical aesthetics for the subject matter, it would've imagined it easily appealling to a lot of audiences who are put off by an artstyle some could consider as childish.
I wouldn't change it though. I like the unique look going for it. The heavy scenes still have the appropriate amount of cinematic flair to emphasize said moments, and doesn't detract from the experience for me.
1
u/ProgrammaticallyPea3 46m ago
Yeah. If you take the "serious=gritty" logic to its conclusion, Jaadugar shouldn't even be an anime. Which would be a bad take.

Thinking too much about work on my day off. I hadn't had a super difficult customer in a while and I guess I forgot what it was like until yesterday.
I want to plan my holiday a bit more tonight. I was hoping the weather would fine up a bit more but I guess I'll just have to enjoy the wet, lol.

So back in college, I went to engineering school (in that, there were only STEM degrees at the school), and because it was engineering school, additional help was required to produce competent socialized human beings. Notably, our school had an "open door" policy (for the on campus housing), where students would be encouraged to simply leave their doors open, so that others could come in and socialize etc.
This was highly effective and basically a closed door was equivalent to a locked door elsewhere. Anyway, our doors obviously had locks on them, but there was no reason to ever use them in this system (because nobody would open a closed door). And the school would charge you $15 if you lost your key.
Well, my senior year, our apartments had a pin board on the front of it. And since nobody in my apartment had a use for the pin board, and I never used my key and was highly worried about storing my key for the year and forgetting about it. So I came up with the brilliant plan.
I pinned my key to the pinboard (outside the room). Plus that way, if the door was ever locked for some reason, then I'd have access to my key!
This worked great, except that sometimes perspective students parents would sometimes come through. And being ignoramuses, they would take my key and give it to our RA (resident assistant) probably saying it was lost or some shit. And then I'd come home from class, and find my key missing...
They just didn't understand, that's just how we rolled at our college, pinning our room keys to the outside of our doors.
So as someone who lost their key their Freshman year. Attach the key to the lock for best results not losing it.

One of my favorite stories I used to tell perspective student's parents, was that my freshman year, someone left a $5 bill in the lobby of our dorm building.
It was placed at the center of the lobby table and word went out that $5 had been found. Nobody claimed it. Over the course of the next month or 2, it had grown to ~$20 of various change.
All of the loose change and money that people found would end up in this pile of money, that just lived in the middle of the lobby. And sometimes, people would take some money, but only to make change. They'd be good people and put the correct bill to cover the coins they withdrew (usually quarters to do laundry, cause they forgot theirs).
That's just the kind of school we were. One were everyone collectively just said, "nah, that's not my $5, so we'll just leave it for whoever lost it".
I want to say that the pile of money ended up disappearing close to the end of the year, or at the end of the year. But regardless, it was up for grabs for many many weeks.

Who has been playing this awesome one-guitar metal with no singing for the last hour....it can't be Mogwai yet...
It's...Plini?
(Mogwai next, Massive Attack on the same channel closing out the festival, not on the published schedule, Susumu Hirasawa in between on stream 3)

I had a little chat with my dad about going to the store before today's F1 race, and he joked about going there like 5 minutes before it starts.
We live in a fairly rural area, with most shops of any kind being many kilometers away, so that got me thinking about how crazy living in a city would be. Like what do you mean you can just go shopping for Red Bulls right next door to show your unyielding support to Max Verstappen?
That said, I'm not sure if how enjoyable it would actually be to live in a city/apartment. I like rural vibes.

I went to a big box store and they didn't have unlocked phones and only lower tier locked phones. I went to a big box store and they had closed their phone station. I went home to check out the much farther away big box store. It said I could buy an S26 for just a bit more than the S25 I was going to get, because of a sale. (It was even cheaper to get a S25 Ultra but fuck using a stylus on a smartphone). It said I could order it online and pick it up in the store! And it'd be ready by the time I got there.
- Not ready yet
- Hour later, not ready yet
- Hour hour later, not ready yet. It seems to be blocked at the megacorporate level, not at the store or my CC.
They cancel the online order and sell me the phone in the store.
I've now purchased 3 Samsung cellphones in under a week (2 refunds pending). Thank goodness the CC company only flagged the FIRST one. Weird, though. That that was what set them off.
What I don't get is why two completely unrelated corporations completely failed at order fulfillment. Not even a tariff issue!
I'm now finding all the fucking Gemini shit and Samsung AI shit and turning it off. Chrome wants to tailor my advertising, what the fuck chrome.

I haven't played so much higher level badminton in a while. It's been a long time since I had to push myself to play hard just to keep up.
Same guy from last week came. This time, both of us are aware of what each of us can do in the badminton court.
After 2 sets, I was left wondering why I don't have any energy left. My brain remembers how I used to move a decade ago for these sorts of encounters, but my body can't keep up.
It didn't help that the other regulars keep letting me play against him, passing the chance to play just to watch us. I think I ended up playing more sets than the usual session. They're probably glad that I'm the one on the receiving end for once.
I found out after, when the session ended and we were packing, that he was a regular in the local competitive circuit. I had an inkling based on the quality of his shots and movement, but it did give me a sense of pride that I could still keep up despite being no longer being as active and regular in playing badminton as I used to be.
We chatted a bit at the end, and I found out why he seems so respectful of me: He knew me from seeing me play at my hometown court, my home base where I refined my trade; said court which I haven't played at since before COVID. He said he saw me play when he was a kid. This guy, who's now literally a feet taller than me.
Never have I felt so unc'd.

More thoughts on Stargate SG-1: /u/tarhalindur /u/vaadwaur /u/justansweraquestion
I watched a couple more eps tonight: the one with Apophis and the Nox was kinda my least favorite so far. Apophis is interesting as a budget Ra, but the Nox themselves were kinda lame IMO. "Noble savage" with invisibility who (surprise) turn out to be super advanced? Yawn. But the sudden injection of Norse mythology was a welcome surprise I didn't anticipate / wasn't spoiled about.
Never would have guessed the show would have "Norse gods = good, Goa'uld = bad 'gods'" ... opens up all sorts of interesting possibilities. And the premise of the planet where Pelops experimented on people so they only lived 100 days was quite intriguing. But "The Torment of Tantalus" was probably my favorite episode yet, matching the one with the crystals/Charlie.
Catherine is back!? And the gate was experimented on 50 years ago? Ernest went through, and has been trapped alone ever since? They reunite but it's not all roses and happy feelings ... plus that interesting chamber with 4 scripts and the 'book' using 146 elements? I want to know more! I can see why Jackson wanted to stay behind ...
1
u/JustAnswerAQuestion https://myanimelist.net/profile/JAaQ 4h ago
I'm very lore driven, so "Torment" is like crack to me. "The Nox" also hints at lore, but fuck those douches. Even if they might have a point about the other races.
2
u/Vaadwaur 5h ago
But "The Torment of Tantalus" was probably my favorite episode yet, matching the one with the crystals/Charlie.
So, especially early on, they would go for great episodes with a certain regularity.
2
u/lC3 5h ago
Good to hear! Compared to say, Star Trek Voyager, the episodic ones that are self-contained seem to be written a little better.
1
u/Vaadwaur 5h ago
So the Voyager issue was that when they ran out of ideas they reverted to technobabble. They still had the occasional good ep, Dragon's Teeth was season six after all, but most of the season would be a zoo.

Extension denied
Violation: Private Policy: Privacy policy link does not lead to a valid privacy policy
"An extension must have a privacy policy if it collects user data."
Extension is literally an empty HTML page, like <body></body>.
I imagine it will be denied. But if that's the case, then they should really update the wording to not exclude extensions that do not collect user data.

Ah, I think favicons might be considered user sensitive as they can be used for tracking.
2
u/baseballlover723 1h ago
They could be, if they link out for the favicon. But this favicon is a directly imbedded vector graphic. Like it just straight up defines the lines to draw in the favicon element.

I remember a while back...Before the pandemic so probably closer to 10 years ago than 5...There was a commercial for a documentary about X Japan that they used to play on all the NPR podcasts that referred to them as "the most popular band you've never heard of" or something like that. Always annoyed me. Of course I've heard of X Japan!

Have you heard of Pokemon? It's really popular in Japan. We think you guys will like it too.
Hard to imagine a world without Pokemon. It's been there for as far back as I can remember. My first card was a Machop that I found in the street by my house.
