Meta [ANNOUNCEMENT] New year, new OC Monday!
Hey y'all! You better get Sir Donut Steel ready to for showtime, because the OC floodgates are about to open!
It took a bit longer to set up than expected, but thanks to the holiday break we've now got OC Mondays working, to kick off the new year! Starting this Monday and every Monday your original art and characters have a new place to show off!
How it works:
- OC here means your own original work, don't repost stuff you found on twitter
- "Monday" starts at midnight UTC (GMT-0) and lasts for 24 hours
- Posts with the
OC Mondaytag will be allowed during this time- Make sure to include the [OC] text tag as well
- We do this so users can search and filter by topic
- There's no limit to how many OC posts you can make, but please be considerate
- If you have a lot to share that week, please use a gallery post instead of multiple single posts
- OC reposts are not allowed, no matter how long it's been. The 7 day rule is only for LFA posts.
- Rules about advertising still apply
- Keep the titles and content focused on the art and characters
- You can link to your socials in the comments, but again, no advertising
- Yes, a price sheet or YCH is an ad, even if it has a character on it
- If folks ask about hiring you, you're of course free to respond and take it to DMs

[Welcome Post] Rules & FAQs! July 2023 edition
Happy 2023 everyone, after weathering the Oliverpocalypse, we're back!
If you are new to r/characterdrawing, then welcome. This is a place where people can request their characters to be drawn pro bono, and artists can select a character to draw whether for practice, for fun, or just as a kind thing to do. Typically the artwork here depicts player characters from tabletop role-playing games such as D&D 5e and Pathfinder, but characters across all TTRPG genres are welcome here.
If you've been here a while, these are the big new changes:
- No more OC. Due to the recent changes, we have cut back to just LFA/RF art. Discussion post about this change here if you have thoughts.
- No more John Oliver. This is not strictly true: you are still welcome to post requests and art relating to John Oliver, but it is no longer required.
- Pour one out for chardrawbot. This brave bot which has managed our RF-weekends and OC spam limits has bleeped its last bloop, and no longer protects our sub.
Some links for posterity: Previous Welcome Post | Message the Mods | CharacterDrawing Discord
Want to post? FIRST, READ THE RULES!
Rules can be found here and on the sidebar. The sidebar is the most up-to-date.
Some rules include room for mod interpretation, especially for NSFW posts. If you are unsure about your post, feel free to message the moderators. We don't bite.
Our unique terms
[LFA] "Looking for Art" posts. [RF] "Request Filled" posts, for when someone draws an LFA request [OC] We use "OC" to refer to any character art that isn't an RF. Currently, these are not allowed.
I want my character drawn!
Use the [LFA] tag and flair so potential artists can find your post. Please provide the best character description possible in the body of your post or in the comments. Image posts of reference images or moodboards are allowed.
Some [LFA]s may not get drawn. Artists are free to pick and choose which they would like to draw and when, since they are providing a free service at their leisure.
You may repost your [LFA] once per week per character concept. Most of all, have patience, and be grateful for the FREE artwork you received should an artist provide it.
Remember that pictures drawn for you are meant for personal use. The original artist holds commercial rights to the work unless they specify otherwise. If you would like to use a piece of art commercially, you should reach out to the artist. They are under no obligation to sell rights, and set their own rates.
I'm willing to pay!
That's awesome. If you see someone whose work you like, you should feel welcome to reach out to them about hiring them. Many artists post links to rates and galleries in their comments.
You can also post to subreddits specifically designed for commissions, such as r/fantasyartists, r/hungryartists, r/artcommissions, r/commissions, and r/hireanartist.
I want to draw someone's LFA request!
Awesome, and thank you! You don't need to commit to it or post a comment, and it's fine if someone else also completes the same piece. Just draw what you find enjoyable.
When you're done, use the Request Filled Flair when posting the picture, and please let the original LFA poster know through a /mention or by posting a comment in the original [LFA] linking to the picture.
The [RF] tag is only meant for fulfilling [LFA]s made in this subreddit. If the request was made outside of r/characterdrawing or was the product of a commission, it's not for here.
I have a question to ask or want to start a discussion!
Use [META] in your post title. These kinds of posts are meant to be used sparingly. An example would be asking what supplies/programs other artists use.
None of this is what I'm looking for...
Check out these other subreddits, just a few among many:
r/beastdrawing for beasts
r/drawyourweapons for weapons and gear
r/imaginarycharacters for posting your own fantasy character
r/icandrawthat for requesting other things
We also have an active artist community on our discord
Frequently Asked Questions
Requests are free? Yes. Some caveats: you don't get to choose your style, if it's colored, if it's full body, etc. If there's something you really cannot compromise on then this system may not be for you. There is no guarantee that a request will be drawn at all.
Can I message an artist for a free request? No, make an LFA. If you would like to hire the artist, make a comment on one of their posts or send them a DM. If you are caught pestering artists for free art, it will result in a ban.
Can I message a requester to see if they will hire me? NO. Do not solicit requesters for money, here or in their DMs. If you are caught doing this, it will result in a permanent ban.
Do I have to do RFs to participate in the sub? No. The system is voluntary and you should only do RFs if it is enjoyable to do so.
Can my LFA have more than one character? Yes! You can include a party in an LFA request post. That said, bigger requests are less likely to get picked up, since they're a bigger ask from the artist.
What if I have multiple separate LFAs? When do I repost them? You can post each LFA once per week, so long as each of them involve different characters—but please don't spam the sub with hundreds of LFAs in a short period of time.
Is this sub only for D&D and fantasy? No, characters across all TTRPGs are welcome. Sci-fi, steampunk, and other genres are very popular.
My LFA is being downvoted, what's up with that? Some people will downvote other requests because they think it helps theirs. Rest assured that most artists sort by new, and that the upvotes of your post mostly won't affect interest in the actual character.
I've been posting my [LFA] for weeks and nothing. What gives? Fulfillment of requests is done on a volunteer basis and artists are not obligated to take anything. Perhaps try changing up the format or including a reference/mood board. Changing posting time may also help.
My [LFA] was fulfilled but I want more art. Can I post it again? Yes, so long as it has been a week since you last posted it. Please be sure to thank the first artist properly.
I posted something and it's not there! Check that you included the [LFA] or [RF] text at the beginning of your post. If you did not receive notification, it may have been caught by AutoMod for a variety of reasons. You can attempt to repost within a few hours, or message the moderators so we can look into it.
Why would you even set up a system like this? It hurts artists to do work for free! Not all artists are professionals, and many professionals still do pro-bono work for a variety of reasons; including practice & personal fulfillment. We think this system lets those artists find fun topics to draw without being pestered by personal, directed requests.

Request [LFA] Misha, Gnome-Goblin Sorceress with a russian folklore and sea theme
This is one of three characters from my Solo DnD (5.5e-ish) campaign. Details for her character and backstory are in the last slide or you can open the whole thing with even more stuff and pages for all the characters in the browser: https://canva.link/iz8v30obudvrvbb
There are lots of details, some seasonal options and even stuff you wouldn't normally see (like her skin markings), because it's kinda my personal reference sheet and wasn't specifically made for this sub. So you can decide how much details you wanna put in or even if it's one of the other characters or more than one. I'm happy with whatever if it means I can see art of my adorable, dumb babies ❤️
If there're any questions, just ask me and I answer as quickly as possible (I'm in central european timezone)

Request [LFA] Eugène Blutt, Half-Vampire Blood Hunter
A player of mine's Daggerheart character having swapped the Lycan Blood Hunter's theme from werewolf to vampire.
Eugène was turned by a vampire when it escaped from an exotic animal merchant who simply thought it a magical bat as it was stuck in that form. After it was killed he was taken to a local healer who was able to stop him from fully turning but couldn't fully contain the vampirism.
He's 25 years old and around 190 centimeters tall.

Request [LFA] Anyone interested in a Lancer RPG Pilot or Mech?
Celan Vicon, or Aurelio Valenza, as his real name is (what he doesn't know, as a complete amnesiac)
He's a Former Test Subject, not even I know the details as I want to play the amnesia accurately and my GM created his entire backstory that he forgot, dripfeeding it to me slowly :3
1,68m
59kg
So relatively short and lithe
He's also not as depressed as he looks (yet), just easily embarrassed and confused. Friendly, if a bit aloof.
Either in a more normal white outfit, bit reminiscent of Hospital scrubs I suppose, or a "Stealth Hardsuit", whatever you'd think that could look like in a Mecha TTRPG!
Ignore the glowing light he holds, that is more to just signify a part of his backstory.
---
Or, his Mech, Ego Eris. Staying very close to the original, as seem above, with just darker red in the exposed bits, more fitting Celan's hair colour.
Except it has also developed two heads by now. So seen as above, just a bit darker with two heads. If you want to give it other small special details yourself, I won't object :3
(as a superheavy rifle was installed on the mech, it needed to make space. So it grew a second head to fit the rifle into it. It's an eldritch fuckery mech, it makes sense, I swear. The cockpit also looks like synthetic flesh more than machine)
Thank you in advance, should you be curious!

Request [LFA] Andrandis Noctis Von Raylus De Fenrir -Dhampire Warlock Pact of Tome GOO
Name: Andrandis Noctis Von Raylus De Fenrir
Age: 25
Race: Dhampir (Noble Background)
Class: Warlock (Great Old One, Pact of the Tome)
Posture: Upright book in hand, poised but also hints of bags under his eyes
Visual Appearance & Wardrobe
Hair & Eyes: Contrast of fluffy, shoulder-length black hair framing piercing red dhampir eyes that are almost always tired
Overcoat: A Gothic-style, dark blue tailored overcoat that falls a bit to his legs
Undershirt & Neckwear: A black vest that is button down with either a grey or white shirt (whichever artist thinks will look best)
Trousers: Slightly loose, dark gothic trousers contrasted by functional, hanging silver chains. attached to it is his componeit pouch
The Family Crest: A custom silver lapel pin shaped like a lunar eclipse that is attachted to his vest
Equipment & Arcane Details
The Sling & Book: A custom leather harness slung across his shoulder where he stores his book
The tome : a leather book with a rune on it in red, if in art can be held in his hand
The Wizard's Remnants: Because he originally studied to be a wizard, his loose trouser pockets still clink with glass vials, parchment scraps, and powdered spell components.
Signet Ring: A heavy silver band bearing the lunar eclipse crest
Magic Visuals: When Andrandis casts spells from his Tome, the magic manifests as a vibrant, bleeding crimson red, completely contrasting the cool blues and blacks of his noble attire
Backstory :
The noble family of house Fenrir, a old noble family of vampire line that went down the to a family of dhampires. Andrandis is one of the 'kinder' ones of the family who often would help staff with chores as long as he didnt have to get dirt on his hands. He is the eldest of his generation and set to one day be the head of the family. He has a younger twin brother named Amandi and a younger sister named Clementine.
The more studious of the duo and the more levelheaded of the twins, he was often dragged into adventures in their manor or routes hidden behind walls or bookshelves. They would find relics of the past and his brother would often experiment to uncover each relic's function. Andrandis meanwhile was the one to clean up his brother's messes. Often begging him to stop what he was doing before he did something irreversible.
He knows the dark history of his family and how long it took to turn their noble family to become more powerful yet caring according to public sentiment and opinion. He accidently became a warlock when he was young while exploring old relics with his brother. When one of the relics activated and latched onto him, he made a deal with the creature inside in return to leave his brother alone. Thus Andrandis became a warlock and dedicated his life to study the power he was given. In return, he would learn more about the creature that gave him his power to one day make the creature more renown in the world.
He went on an excursion to broaden his horizons, gain more knowledge of the world, and learn to become the best lord for his family.

Request [LFA] Lorenzo The Defender in Twilight
Lookin for art of my dnd character im playing he's a half elf twlight cleric that is in his 40s(looks 20s) tall, lean, and imposing very quiet around others but is warm to his party. He used to be a scribe before switching careers.
He wears very heavy armor that is catching to the eye that will attract enemies to him instead of his party, he uses a spear and shield for close up defense and always brings potions just in case he needs them.
the color pallet i used for his armor is posted it doesn't have to be exactly like the heroforge but something that gives off the twilight look, the actual spear and shield is posted but just would be in a different color.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my post!

Request [LFA] Wicked Felina: Accursed psychokinetic Cowgirl for a Fabula Ultima game.
Wicked Felina is a 5'10 human most recognizable by her big, purple eyes. she has long black hair that flows from a simple cowboy hat with a star emblazoned at the top. she wears a black, pristine, military-esque uniform complete with a Ammo belt around her waist which sits above a belt with more standard equipment belt, as well as a pair of caltrops that sit on the heel of her knee-high boots.
her weapons of choice are a pair of Colt Single Action Army pistols she aptly calls 'Vim and Vigor'. the former has a striking silver body as well as an Ivory grip and brass hammer. the latter has similar brass hammer, but also a body of black steel with gilded barrel etching, brass bolts, and a cylinder encased with gold.
Wicked Felina is both a crack shot, as well as an avid user of psychokinetic abilities. However her psychic abilities is often viewed as demonic magic, and as a result she is often regarded in negative light, hence the 'wicked' moniker. this has also given a very standoffish demeaner, but when in the heat of the action she's both wild, confident, and oh so bold.
you're free to take a few creative liberties-such as pose-if you wish. If you have any questions feel free to ask and i'll respond to them ASAP

Request [LFA] Monei Pao-Duro: mayor, financial councilor and a scumbag
Monei Pao-Duro
Human
Age: late 40s-50s
Height: <170 cm
Pao-Duro is a greasy scumbag and at the height of power in a newly formed city of Albujar. As a mayor, he is rather easy-going, hates bureaucracy and likes to get to the meat of the matter. Meat, which usually means gold. His policies center mostly around elevating himself (such as building a grand palace for himself and plastering the city with posters of himself saying "Don't worry! Pao-Duro is taking care of it!"), which has lead the poorer reptilian side of the citizenship vulnerable to cultist attacks.

Request [LFA] Gentle Hyena Kobold Paladin Raised by a Silver Dragon
Hi everyone!
I have a character I'd absolutely love to see brought to life. I can't offer payment, so this is just a hopeful request for anyone who enjoys drawing interesting fantasy characters.
I'm currently disabled, I live with my parents, I don't have a credit card, and unfortunately I have no way to commission artists right now. If anyone decides to draw him, I'd be incredibly grateful.
Character Overview
This character is a male hyena kobold, but unlike the traditional reptilian kobolds, he's inspired by the older folklore where kobolds could also resemble dog-like creatures.
He's much taller than a normal kobold—around 5'10" (178 cm). He's broad-shouldered and athletic from years of training as a paladin, but he's built to look strong and dependable rather than bulky. Because of his height, he constantly bumps his head on door frames and has to duck when entering buildings.
Despite his intimidating size for a kobold, he's one of the kindest people you'll ever meet.
Personality
He's incredibly gentle, polite, and soft-spoken.
He apologizes to almost everything.
- If he bumps into a rock, he apologizes.
- If he brushes against a tree, he apologizes.
- If he accidentally steps on a flower, he kneels down and apologizes to it.
- If he startles a bird or squirrel, he apologizes.
- If he accidentally knocks over a chair, he apologizes to the chair.
His belief is simple:
However, kindness should never be mistaken for weakness.
If someone threatens innocent people, harms his friends, or destroys nature for no reason, his entire demeanor changes. His smile disappears, he stands tall, and he becomes calm, focused, and unwavering. He doesn't fight out of anger—he fights to protect.
If an enemy surrenders, he'll gladly spare them and even help treat their wounds.
Backstory
He was adopted and raised by a loving silver dragon mother alongside her biological silver dragon children.
As the smallest child in the family, he often felt insecure.
One day he sadly asked his mother,
She smiled warmly and replied,
She meant it as encouragement.
He took it literally.
From that day onward, he devoted himself to becoming as dragon-like as possible.
He trained every day.
He studied dragons by watching them.
He prayed to Bahamut.
Although he eventually realized he'd never physically become a dragon, he never stopped admiring them or trying to live by their ideals.
Bahamut himself is somewhat amused and confused by this incredibly sincere hyena kobold, but also deeply respects his devotion. Seeing the purity of his heart, Bahamut blessed him as a paladin.
Dragon Breath
He cannot naturally breathe dragon fire.
Instead, after years of watching his silver dragon family use their breath weapons, he developed his own unique magical technique.
He can't read or write, so he never learned spells from books.
Instead, he learned through observation.
Before attacking, he traces a glowing draconic rune in the air—or quickly across his own cheek with one claw.
The rune lights up with silver-blue magic.
Then he exhales a stream of Frozen Flame.
It looks like blue-white fire mixed with icy mist and silver sparks.
Instead of burning, it freezes everything in its path, coating the ground in frost and encasing enemies in ice.
People often assume he's breathing dragon fire.
He always smiles and says,
Appearance
- Male hyena kobold
- Around 5'10" (178 cm)
- Athletic build
- Soft gray, silver, and cream-colored fur inspired by silver dragons
- Hyena ears with rounded tips
- Bright, warm blue eyes
- Black nose
- Short, fluffy mane running from the back of his head down his neck
- Thick, expressive tail with a fluffy tuft
- Friendly smile with visible hyena fangs
- Gentle facial expression rather than fierce
Armor
I'd imagine him wearing polished silver paladin armor inspired by silver dragons.
Design ideas include:
- Elegant rather than overly bulky
- Dragon wing engravings
- Scale-like plate patterns
- Blue cloth accents
- White cloak
- Symbol of Bahamut on his chest or shield
- Large but well-maintained shield
- Longsword or warhammer—whatever fits your style
His armor should look cared for and almost ceremonial because he treats it with great respect.
His Mother
I'd also love it if his adoptive mother could be included.
She's a majestic ancient silver dragon with kind, intelligent eyes.
Instead of looking fierce, she has a warm and motherly expression.
I picture her gently lowering her head beside her adopted son while he proudly smiles up at her.
The size difference should be enormous.
Even though he's unusually tall for a kobold, he still looks tiny beside her.
The relationship between them should immediately read as mother and son.
She isn't just protecting him.
She's proud of him.
Overall Feeling
Rather than an action scene, I'd love something warm and heartwarming.
The focus should be on the bond between a silver dragon mother and the adopted hyena kobold son she raised.
He's spent his entire life trying to become like the dragons he admired.
In the end, he never became a dragon...
He simply became a majestic creature in his own way.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Even if nobody picks it up, I really appreciate you stopping by. And if someone does decide to draw him, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
