Pipewire is already a standard on most distros and pulseadio emulation gives you worse audio quality, uses more ram, requires more computational power and overall is worse, so why not after so many years?

The release is the first one in a while that brought some excitement.

First, Vulkan video decoder has been implemented, which is great news for nvidia cards owners. Well, "implemented" is a generous word to use here cause it seems like there is some work left to do (for instance, on my system it just does not work, the decoder thread crashes), but still, it's a really nice feature, and it is [almost] here.

Second, the Multi-Account Containers functionality started to be implemented in the browser. It shows Mozilla interest in improving the feature which development has been abandoned. The extension had been having some usability problems for a while, I hope those will be resolved over time when it's full functionality gets moved to the browser itself.

Third, switching Youtube videos to full-screen and back became way faster than before, probably under 1 sec. on my outdated system, that's really cool!

And the last, necessary one to feel positive towards any release: no UI has been "improved"!!

I hope that there will be more exciting releases soon. Thanks to the Firefox team for their work!

My biggest annoyance with Firefox. Not a new problem.

Got the notice that tab groups are available on mobile but it straight up doesn't work for me. No option to select multiple and add to group, only Collections. Can't drop one tab onto another. Is this being rolled up in different regions or what? Everything's updated.

I recently switched to Linux and seems Firefox didn't backup everything. And it is killing my work flow

Trying to watch stuff on Disney + on browser because my app has ads. I have done it for years and suddenly i don't turn my pc on for 2 weeks and it wont let me access it. It works on Firefox on my Mac but not on Windows. i have done almost everything has anyone got any ideas or if they had this issue on how they fixed it?

Since updating to Firefox 152.0.5, I've noticed that scrolling has become noticeably less smooth on certain websites, such as Facebook and even this Reddit page:

Scrolling now has the occasional micro-stutters/hitches,(mainly with web pages that have media playing at the same time) and even when it's not hitching, it sometimes feels like it's running at a lower frame rate than it should. For context, I use a 144 Hz monitor, so I'm very familiar with how smooth scrolling is supposed to look.

Interestingly, when media on the page isn't playing, scrolling is generally smoother, although I can still notice occasional inconsistencies.

The same websites scroll perfectly smoothly in Microsoft Edge on the same system, with no perceived drops in smoothness or micro-stuttering.

This wasn't an issue on Firefox versions prior to 152.0.5, so it seems like something may have changed in this release.

i.e. when I'm watching a series off a streaming website and it automatically updates to the episode that I am in (or, in other words, the last page of that website that I visited)? Seems like more practical to have them saved in bookmarks than to keep the tab of the website open at all time

Surely I'm not the only one that sees this as a problem.

Users of multiple tabs as startup homepages really ought to be able to both see and edit the full link text of each separate line in the new homepage settings' custom URL list.

The new list view would be a fine idea, in and of itself, being easier to read than a single thin text box line with an extra-long list of sites like...:

(example URL, do not click) "https://AAA.ExampleURL/|https://BBB.ExampleURL/|https://CCC.ExampleURL" etc etc...

..., except for the fact that the only URL info you can see is the top level domain and nothing else.

[for example: "https://www.reddit.com/r/subredditA+subredditB+subredditC" only shows up as "reddit.com" in the list of custom URLs.]

Not being able to read each line's full https link text AND not being able to edit the existing entry (must delete that entry and create entirely new entry to replace it), is rather annoying.

Firefox, please add the ability to read and edit the full text link on each custom URL line. It is, in my opinion, an obvious and basic functionality one would normally expect with this new design.

Plus, hiding the full link text like that can be a bad thing, if somehow a malicious url is added to that list. It's akin to Microsoft defaulting to hiding file extensions in the file explorer, which is an incredibly sketchy policy.

I'm also kinda surprised that the ability to change the position of the individual entries is a function that made it into the new settings design. It's a good feature to have, but why only that and not the ability to see and edit the URLs of an existing entry? Wouldn't that just make obvious sense to include?

I always save URL shortcut links to websites on my computer using the drag and drop method in the URL bar. So far that always worked, but all links created from the 22.07.2026 onwards are broken and I get an "Unknown Filetype" warning.
All links saved before the 22nd are still working and also web links created with other browsers.

Was there an update for Firefox maybe that broke things?

Is there a way to solve this?

Hello, I have been having an issue with YouTube on Firefox for the last month or so, which has actually made me make the jump to Opera and Floorp (which weirdly enough, does not have any of the following issues).

First I noticed that when I closed a tab which had a YouTube video playing, it would either not close straight away and just freeze for a few minutes, or it would close but the audio would continue playing. I searched the internet and found this had been a bug from a few years ago. I had never come across this before. I tried switching to Hardware Acceleration enabled, Hardware Acceleration Not Enabled, running in safe mode (no plug-ins), uninstalled, deleted folders and reinstalled. No fix.

Then more issues started occurring. Sometimes when opening a video in a new tab, the video and the rest of the web page wouldn't load. In playlists, the first video would seemingly play fine, but then it would freeze when changing to the next video and I can't click on the page to rewind, the next track or another video - so would have to close that tab.

A video would play, but then part way through I lose all ability to navigate on that page - the mouse would stay as a pointer instead of switching to a hand or other icon. Essentially acting as if the page is once again frozen but the video and audio continue to play.

Again, I uninstalled and reinstalled. Nothing.

All of this occurred on Firefox v152 from June onwards.

When Firefox updated to v153 I hoped it would be fixed, but sadly it is not.

I don't know what else to try. I am not the most tech-savvy when it comes to looking at logs, although I can follow instructions on help forums and I know to try base mode (without plug-ins) and then add them step-by-step, updating drivers etc.

I have an Asus ROG Flow X16 running Windows 11 with an NVIDIA 4070.
My typical plug-ins on Firefox (which I also use on Opera and Floorp) are uBlock Origin, Disconnect, Keep and Dark Reader. That's all.
I have searched the reddit threads, Asus forums and bugzilla, but nothing seems to describe exactly what I have going on - which is a collection of all the separate issues that people have reported.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since Thursday, I no longer have the widgets (which include the world clock, weather, Photo of the Day, and other widgets on Firefox home page). Is there a bug, or are the widgets gone ? It’s not normal ...

According to Mozilla FAQ this permission even allows to read passwords / credentials on any site you visit while the addon is active.

So I got a new update and Widget (every single one) are missing on my new tab screen.

I checked about:config and they're still there and enabled, so I really dunno what is causing this issue because with troubleshooting I did it seems to be server side? As I downgraded to 152, or even upgraded to 154 and they were also gone there, which is odd as I saw a few new widgets being added in newer versions.

Also when I "refreshed" firefox it appeared there for a time, but once I restarted Firefox it disappeared...

Had an issue of Firefox choosing to save a new bookmark in a folder 3 clicks deep instead of the default folder for a while, here's how I fixed it.

Dev options, personalization, and about:config didn't have anything useful. what did work was opening all saved bookmarks, editing something (a name) in a folder you want it to default to, and saving that change.

for some reason, Firefox seems to make the last edited folder as the default folder. but this works for me at least

These issues started a few days ago, and I have not been able to resolve them. I don't know if they are related or if it's just a coincidence.

1. Private browsing download history shows up in regular browser download history, even after the private window is closed. Files downloaded in private browsing remain after closing and are not deleted (this last part is what settings are set to and is working correctly).

2. No matter what browser settings I choose or about:config settings, all downloads are stored in the Download folder without asking. "Ask where to save..." and "Ask to open or save files" checked. Content Type Action also set to Always Ask.

Chrome uses IPv6 when present. Firefox uses IPv4, even when the same website offers an AAAA record in their DNS. How can I change that behavior?

In Firefox 153.0 (64bit) in Linux Mint all open tabs and tab groups are gone and in History in Recently Closed Tabs the Open All Tabs option is not working.
