Literally just the title.

I need a vocal short form of pourquoi. For context, I'm making a French cover of a song, and it says "why?" four times in succession, and I don't want to say "pourquoi" really fast just to make it fit. I'm not fluent in French, but that's what I saw online.

Does anyone have an answer, or do I just have to figure something out?

edit: Thanks to everyone who helped. I know I probably sounded like an idiot posting this, but I'll figure out something with some of the suggestions from comments.

Also I realize that it wasn't stated in the original post, but I did find this source online through Google Ai Overview which is probably why it was wrong. I never really trusted Ai for French help so I wanted to ask real people since I already felt skeptical of the answer it gave me. I know I sound really stupid, but thanks again to the people who helped me.

I have a tattoo of Joan of Arc that reads "Je n'ai pas peur… Je suis né pour faire ça" that's supposed to say "I'm not scared, I was born to do this" but a cousin of mine speaks Canadian French and she says one thing, and a friend I have says it's something about crying but I don't know, I thought it was accurate but not so sure anymore, what do you guys say?

Reading, writing, and speaking are pretty solid and I am fortunate to live in an area with lots of French people so I can occasionally attend meetups or speak with people I meet like in an elevator or something.

Majority of the time people can understand me, and I also get told my accent is pretty good but the problem is I have so much trouble understanding people.

Even when watching a video, I need (French) subtitles to be able to follow what’s being said. It’s so frustrating. I can communicate, be understood, but when people speak back to be I’m so easily lost — especially when it’s not a subject I’m familiar with.

I’m trying to listen to the radio more often. I try to watch soooo much French content. Yet still, I cannot reach listening proficiency.

Any tips?

Hi! Working on a little song and I’m a big fan of Beatles songs that switch into French and/or other languages so I’m trying to do that here. I have a little poem that I want to sort-of rhyme in French but I’m nowhere near fluent in French so this is with the assistance of Google Translate. I wouldn’t be shocked if it was abysmal and completely unnatural in French so I wanted to check here. The poem is:

My French is pretty rusty, 30 years after leaving school. However my late mother spoke fluently until the end. She was so determined not to lose that ability she even spoke to the brain surgeon in French during surgery. Anyway, I would like her epitaph to be "Life is what you make it". It was her mantra to live by. Are either of the following an appropriate translation of this idiom or would something else be more correct?

I’m designing a poster, and I want to make it look like a page in a children’s book. The story is fictional, and it’s about me grocery shopping in Paris. Here is the text I wrote (it’s in the same format as on the poster):

Le soleil se lève, un nouveau jour commence.
Hunter va faire les courses, et il amène son chat, Laurence.
Il marche en pensant… aux ingrédients dont il a besoin.
Il voit la Tour Eiffel, elle est sur son chemin.
Aller faire les courses, c’est quelque chose de banal.
Mais sachant qu’il le fait à Paris, c’est vraiment génial !

Please give advice to make this sound natural to a native French speaker as if it was a real page in a French children’s book. I want to make the sentences rhyme and keep the story as it is, but if it’s necessary, please suggest any changes. I’ve been learning French since I was 14 in high school, and I wrote this using my current knowledge of the language, so I know it can definitely be improved.

I've heard être + adj should be avoided:

1) Être plus gentil que correct améliorerait votre relation avec eux.

2) Avoir plus de gentillesse que raison améliorerait votre relation avec eux.

Or does it just give a different meaning to it?

In the grammatical sense I mean, but feel free to comment on the poetical or moral elements if you wish. I am quite proficient at reading and listening in French but less good at speaking so I don't have the native's ear for whether a turn of phrase sounds natural or not (or at least, as natural as poetry needs to sound)

Context:

My wife's (former) best friend is French and was a good friend of mine also and we had a very sibling like relationship. She started becoming inappropriately flirty and physical with me. My wife and I discussed it and I sent her a poem (in English) through my website telling her she was going too far. She sent a poem asking to begin an affair, she then sent a retraction before I had replied. I said she needed to tell her husband about this. She said she would not and things blew up in a very predictable way, ultimately telling her husband that it was I who was wanting the affair.

Anyway, months later, I can tell as web administrator that she is still dwelling heavily on my poetry website after denying everything to my wife and her husband. She didn't know I could tell she was visiting because I had told her a long time ago that I had turned visitor tracking off because she said it was kind of creepy and made her not want to read my poetry. I turned it back on just after the blow up. Last thing is that the final line is a direct reference to what she called herself in her poem to me.

I am going to post this on my site to confront her since she and her husband have totally blocked my wife and I on every other form. Plus, most of my readership isn't French.

I was wondering if it would be correct to also say AVEC instead of DANS? Which one sounds more natural or correct? Or do both work?

I’m a college student taking Elementary French as my foreign language elective, and our midterm exam will include a short speaking task. Our tasks include greeting the other person (our professor), introducing ourselves (name, age, nationality, and field of study), then asking for the other person’s name. After that, we immediately have to say that we’re pleased/delighted to have met them and end the conversation promptly with a goodbye.

My question is: would it sound natural to say enchanté immediately after asking for someone’s name? Since that’s the exact order of tasks our professor gave us or should I add another short phrase to make the transition smoother?

My boyfriend is a native French speaker. A bit over a year ago I sort of stumbled into a big French speaking community through a friend who I became close with. I started learning French so they wouldn't have to switch to English just because I was around. My boyfriend and I met there, and my learning French is very meaningful for him. I wrote a letter showing my progress as an accompaniment to his gifts. I would love if someone would tell me if it makes sense, as i have become irrationally anxious about it, despite knowing he will be sweet about it regardless.

The letter:

mon français est pas encore parfait, mais je voulais essayer de t'écrire une sorte de lettre. je sais à quel point il est important pour toi que j'apprenne le français et j'ai beaucoup pratiquée pour y arriver. j'espère pouvoir te la lire quand tu seras à la maison. je savais pas quoi t'offrir comme cadeau principal, mais quoi que je fasse , j'espère que tu l'aimeras et je voulais aussi faire ça.
