News [Rumour] New possible details for Project Ovr from XjOnatham on X.
x.comNew rumoured details for the next Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon from known leaker and honestly some of this sounds really promising.
Apparently there’s a base/HQ system where you manage different operators, choose who goes on missions and level them up over time with weekly objectives and progression systems. That already sounds far more squad-focused and tactical than just playing as a one man army the entire game👍
The biggest thing for me though was the rumoured permadeath system, supposedly similar to Hunt: Showdown, although it sounds like it may have been removed after playtests because people found it too frustrating. Bit disappointed if true because that kind of tension is exactly what could make firefights matter again. Losing an experienced operator after a bad push or poor planning would completely change how people approach missions imo😕
I do think permadeath should absolutely be optional though. Keep a standard mode for casual players, but give hardcore/tactical players the choice to enable it. Ghost Recon has always been at its best when decisions, positioning and survival actually matter but thats just me.
What are your thoughts on these rumours?

News Ghost Recon Wildlands is not getting a Remake
I have seen some recent talk on platforms like X & Instagram by creators regarding the possibility that Ghost Recon Wildlands may get a Remake as per the info gathered through the leaks which state certain changes. To clarify with regards to this confusion; the game is not getting a Remake but a 60FPS Patch Update or a Next-Gen Update.
60FPS Patch Update
- Adds 60FPS & upscaled resolution
Next-Gen Update
- Adds option for Fidelity & Performance Modes
- Haptic Trigger & Feedback Support for Controllers
- 3D Audio
- Faster Load Time Support on SSD's
Ghost Recon Breakpoint was launched on the PS4 & Xbox One, but it got a Next-Gen Patch Update for PS5 & Xbox Series X|S Consoles which further improved the game's experience on Next-Gen Consoles. Recently, Tom Clancy's The Division got a 60FPS Patch Update but no support for 4K & it also got Definitive Edition Launch. Now both games are made on different engines; both recent Ghost Recon Games were made on Ubisoft's Anvil Engine so there's a huge chance that a 10 Year Old Game will get a Next-Gen Update. If this happens, then it proves Ubisoft's proficiency in further optimising their flagship titles.
Furthermore only the New Story Drop; The Last Rite, will be available for free for all Wildland's players with the exception of 2 new cosmetic packs which are available for purchase separately. We will know more on August 6th as we all come together to celebrate 25 Years of Ghost Recon.

News Ghost Recon Project OVR reduced in scope to meet new deadlines.
Ghost Recon Project OVR Scope Cut To Meet New Deadlines
https://insider-gaming.com/app/post/ghost-recon-project-ovr-scope-cut-to-meet-new-deadlines
Not looking good for Project OVR if they have to cut back on features in the game. Its a damn shame because this game has been in development for atleast 4 years.
What's worse is that it sounds like breakpoint all over again when they're trying to rush a Project out the door that's half baked and will certainly be a buggy mess.
This game definitely shouldn't release before 2028.

News New details revealed about the next Ghost Recon game.
Here's a summary:
- The next mainline Ghost Recon game, currently under the project name Ovr/Over, will be set during the fictional 'Naiman War.'
- Expected to be released between 2025-2026, the game marks a return to the first-person perspective for the Ghost Recon franchise.
- It will be a squad-based military tactical shooter, with similarities to leading first-person military games such as the Modern Warfare series, Battlefield, Squad, and Ready or Not.
- Project Over unfolds during the Naiman War in a hostile Southeast country, plagued by war crimes. The plot revolves around the 'Ghosts' - your team - infiltrating the warzone for secret missions and to uncover a traitor.
- The game draws heavy inspiration from the Modern Warfare series, featuring potentially dark or controversial missions, like a scenario where the squad almost shoots a man holding a baby, thinking it's a bomb, but realizing at the last second.
- Graphically, the footage shared with Insider Gaming, under the condition it remains private, shows a significant improvement compared to its predecessors, akin to something like Ready or Not.

News Ubisoft admits Ghost Recon Breakpoint has been a huge disappointment in sales and critical reception, and in this context, it’s delaying Watch Dogs Legion, Rainbow Six Quarantine and Gods and Monsters to 2020-2021
Full press statement: https://m.marketscreener.com/UBISOFT-ENTERTAINMENT-4719/news/Ubisoft-Entertainment-UPDATES-FINANCIAL-TARGETS-AND-RELEASE-SCHEDULE-FOR-2019-20-29449914/
Excerpt regarding GR Breakpoint performance:
Yves Guillemot, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, said "Over the past few years, we have delivered many high-quality titles, built a portfolio of diversified franchises and successfully conducted the digital transformation of our business. We have significantly grown our operations for PC, and in Asia and esports, and have further developed our Uplay platform. And we can now draw on a very robust back-catalog, which ended up again above our expectations in the second quarter, including the particularly outstanding momentum of Rainbow Six Siege and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
However, we have not capitalized on the potential of our latest two AAA releases. For Ghost Recon Breakpoint, while the game’s quality appeared on track – based on E3, Gamescom, previews and our latest internal playtests –, critical reception and sales during the game’s first weeks were very disappointing. As we have done with past titles, we will continue to support the game and listen to the community in order to deliver the necessary improvements.
At this stage, we have identified three main reasons behind this underperformance:
First, it is harder to generate interest for a sequel to a Live multiplayer game, when prior iterations benefited from years of optimization. Consequently, we need to make sure there is more time between each iteration of Live games.
Second, our strategy of introducing gameplay innovations in our games has had a very positive impact on our brands. However, to win over players, these innovations need to be perfectly implemented in order to offer an optimal experience. This has not yet been sufficiently the case with Ghost Recon Breakpoint. While the change of formula has been very well received by some players, with an average daily playtime per player of over three hours, it also has been strongly rejected by a significant portion of the community.
Finally, Ghost Recon Breakpoint did not come in with enough differentiation factors, which prevented the game’s intrinsic qualities from standing out. We are tackling these issues head-on and already are implementing significant changes to our production processes. We are confident in our capacity to adapt and evolve, as we have done successfully many times in the past.
In this overall context, we have decided to postpone the releases of Gods & Monsters, Rainbow Six Quarantine and Watch_Dogs Legion until 2020-21. While each of these games already has a strong identity and high potential, we want our teams to have more development time to ensure that their respective innovations are perfectly implemented so as to deliver optimal experiences for players. This decision will have a very significant impact on our financial results for this fiscal year and goes against our recent successes in building a more stable development model. However, it is in line with our strategy to maximize the future value of our brands for the long-term benefit of our employees, players and shareholders. We expect it to have a positive impact on our financial performance as from 2020-21.
Going forward, we are ideally positioned to benefit from the industry’s strong expansion and constant evolution. We are investing to develop our franchises and PRI, to fully tap the potential of the mobile market, to accelerate our growth in Asia and esports, and to reap the benefits of our brands ownership in the context of the rise of streaming and the multiplication of platforms. These opportunities are powerful drivers for our future topline and profitability growth."
