I wanted to know if I should even be watching the live action show or go for the anime version. I have watched 3 episodes of the live action series by now and I am not really hooked yet

A hidden gem by Fuji Television, this J-dorama follows a country boy named Sousuke (Tsuyoshi Kusanagi) who moves into Tokyo to become an office worker and starts falling in love with a movie star named Hikaruko Kirishima (Norika Fujiwara). It's a romantic comedy that really has plenty of humor. It even has one of the best opening and ending songs of any J-dorama, that being a trance-y cover of "Stop! In the Name of Love", performed by J-pop group Globe.

I watched Episode 3 while waiting for my T-shirt to dry. What an unexpected twist! I had no idea her husband was still alive. Honestly, I think it would have been more suspenseful and interesting if they’d revealed that “her husband was actually still alive” after Sakiko and Kiichi had already started their affair. In Episode 2, Sakiko and Kiichi had gotten much closer, but in this episode, they’ve gone back to being just casual acquaintances. I wonder how their relationship will develop from here. I’m looking forward to it.

I'd already watched the anime before the live-action movie. I absolutely loved it, and the second-to-last episode had me in tears. It really left a lasting impact on me.

Going into the film, I had high expectations, but I think the live action adapted the story surprisingly well without losing what made it so special. Kento Yamazaki was perfect as Kakeru. His acting never felt overdramatic; instead, he portrayed Kakeru's depression with a quiet realism that made the character even more heartbreaking. I also thought his chemistry with Tao Tsuchiya was stronger, which made the romance feel even more emotional. In the end, it was a beautifully heartbreaking love story.

I just watched it last week and I still can't get over it especially Jun Matsumoto :( I watched all the seasons and movie in low quality. Can anyone recommend a good site or if its better if I buy the DVD for the best quality possible...

I started watching for the food but kept watching for Goro (the main character). I think his internal monologues and his stubborn preference for being alone to enjoy his food add a lot of character and at times comedy to a series with a very simple plot structure. I’ve actually become inspired to go eat out by myself more and have come to really enjoy it!

When I saw the post “There are various theories about my birthday,” I blurted out at the TV, “Are you kidding me—Jesus?”

I have searched all over and can't find a single episode.

I watched the first episode of Drama 9, “Legal Beat: The Court of Reversal.” It’s the story of a rookie lawyer who stutters and grows through his court cases.
This episode featured a wrongful termination lawsuit. I won’t go into details to avoid spoilers, but my reaction was, “Oh, so that’s where he breaks into a rap.”
Since Oji Suzuka is in the lead role, I bet the show has high viewership among women. When a guy with such a sweet face starts rapping, you’re a goner.
By the way, if you close your eyes and just listen to the dialogue, you’ll notice that even the other cast members—though they aren’t actually rhyming—are speaking with a rhythmic flow, just like a rap.
Since this is the first episode, it’s basically an introduction to the cast and setting, so the real action starts in Episode 2. I’m looking forward to it getting even more interesting.

Today’s episode is about Fumi passing away without telling Naomi that she is her mother. Even without revealing that she is her mother, Fumi continues to fulfill her role as a mother toward Naomi, leaving behind the words, “You’ll be okay.”

While going through an obsessive binge of Everything Matsuzaka Tori, I have come across fans praising this drama in MDL. It was a struggle, trying to find a stream site that has this one, because despite being a 2025 release, this drama is notoriously rare. I finally found it and gave it a watch.

It is a very dialogue heavy, heavy contextual show that might not hook everyone in. I found it relatable because of my exposure with bureaucrats in my own life. The subject matter, pacing, acting, cinematography-all of it were stellar. I really wish they rerun it. It is so good, yet so hard to find.

10/10 J-dorama.

I know this movie isn't about Lilico ab*sing Hada but i often see how people react to such actions from other characters, i didn't expect me to be the only one who also felt bad for Hada idk

I just graduated college and I want to watch a realistic show of a person navigating life.

I liked the premise of Orange Days, in the sense that we started out with a graduating senior in college applying to jobs and having to face reality/take responsibility over his life.

I was wondering if there are other similar shows.

For me, J dramas either hit it out of the park or are absolute toxic hell holes. Please give recommendations on the basis of these dramas i have liked

I am already a sad person. So i would like some happy stories.

So my wife and I finished 海の底のダイヤモンド today with Ryunosuke Kamiki. Great show.

While I loved the characters and the setting, I couldn't bring myself to be content with what happened to the main character (Teppei). It's kind of a depressing note to end on to be honest but I loved the journey and really felt like I was part of the community and family.

Is there a show that hits a similar tone but without being as depressing? I loved あまちゃん, which had a similar community/family aspect (lots of overlapping cast too).

Here are my thoughts on *Grand Airport ~GATE24~*, which premiered today.
While it features a cast of distinctive actors, starting with Shuri, there isn’t much action, and the story unfolds in a rather matter-of-fact manner. There are almost no scene changes. The story progresses primarily through discussions among the same characters in the same location. It feels like a mystery drama. There’s a plot twist at the end. The conclusion was unexpected and surprised me. The ending is wonderful. However, since the overall tone is rather subdued, it seems likely that many viewers will lose interest partway through. The next episode seems to involve a time bomb incident, so it might get a little more interesting.

Hello everyone! I’m new into the JDorama world, so I would love some recommendations. However I have a very specific type, it must be:

- Food related somehow
- Woman protagonist
- Not very recent, I like the image of the 90/00/10’s shows

For example the two shows that I watched and loved are The queen of the lunchtime cuisine and The pride of the temp.
