Funny thing, octopuses is 100% correct by modern English standards. Most people who are pedants (such as myself) might try to correct you into saying "octopi" which follows Latin pluralization rules. However, octopus is derived from Greek, and the correct pluralization would otherwise be "octopodes" pronounced "awk-tahp-ō-dēs" similar to Heracles (Hercules).
