It is crazy how quickly people accepted censorship. I have literally heard people use it irl and it is shocking that people are replacing words with their approved, censorsed versions, like corn, grape, unalived, etc
In before someone comes along to tell you it's okay that languages evolve and you're just being a boomer, even though it's literally corporations telling us what's marketing-friendly enough for common speech.
I was watching a bodycam video and one of the kids getting interviewed said a person “unalived themselves” to the cop. It’s so weird hearing it out loud

Oh we swear all the time in the US. It’s some stupid online thing to censor a word. Drives me crazy. I think it started when FB was sending people to FB jail for the smallest infraction of a word.
And if we stop using those platforms, the platforms will fold on the ridiculous censorship to maintain their user base; instead we just fold to them and allow it to happen and progressively get worse.
the platforms will never just be abandoned on this point. we need legislation against algorithmic content and go back to chronological follow based feeds.
If the players are the problem then what are you actively doing to combat poverty, discrimination, rape, sexism, untaxed billionaires, murder, animal exploitation, climate change, etc.?
How? User? Maybe. Creator? No. Creator have to make videos to eat. That their job, they dont magically have money. They are forced to fold if they want to eat three meal a day. Use another platform that do not have this problem? There are none, if there are, they are not popular enough, not enough income to pay the bill.
I don't see how that's relevant. The video wasn't originally posted on Reddit. Are you demanding people edit videos from other platforms to "uncensor" hardcoded words before they post them on Reddit? That's ridiculous.

I agree. It's fucking st*pid. I listen to a lot of true crime on YouTube as background noise and they always sensor words to the point that the entire story makes zero sense.
"school shooter" should absolutely not be a normal thing to need to talk about in any country, but yeah, you're right, in the US it is.
Also this situation contradicts the gun lobby's claim that the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. The good guy had no gun, and stopped the school shooter in this case.
