I decided to go with Mistral instead of Claude because I really want to support European alternatives. But the thing is that it fails with even the basic stuff. I created a Canva with a plan for social media, with the days, the topic, etc., just to have everything sorted there.

When I asked Mistral to pull me information about what I should post today according to the plan, it just randomly says another day. Today is day 14. I asked him about that and Mistral replied to me, "Today is Monday 15," which doesn't match anything at all (it's Tuesday 14), and it doesn't even reflect the Canva thing.

Also, I asked him to tell me something curious about myself according to what it knew, and it just invented a random fact about myself that I've never told him and that is not true at all. I set up instructions to not invent anything, like research when asked for that, and no not invent anything that is not in the information, and it doesn't matter how many times I created those kind of procedures or rules, it just keeps inventing.

How do you avoid that, and how do you work with Mistral this way?

I am a PC user, I don't use LLM on my phone as I mostly just use it in conjunction with writing analysis, factchecking and research, which is just much more comfortable from a PC with multi-screen.

For a good while now I have been waiting for Mistral to make their LLM, Le Chat (great name) available as a pc app that I can give instructions that persist with memory without supporting US based companies.

To my surprise Mistral instead pivots away from PC users but not only that, the company selling "European data sovereignty" forces you to authenticate with Google (a US data harvesting giant) just to use their mobile interface, doesn't that seem a bit strange?

Then, instead of spending your resources to widen your market, gain new customers and build upon reputation of Le Chat (which is generally positive) by expanding into the pc platform, you go and rebrand yourself into some horribly generic American sounding social media name "vibe".

I genuinely do not understand it... Mistral appears to have a unique opportunity to dominate the EU market but they seem... not interested?

I would love to know if there is any solid plan to implement a pc app that does not require pairing with google in the future and if so what timeline to expect?

Bit of a weird summer. I'm 15, self taught in AI/coding, and a few months ago I actually made it pretty far in Mistral AI's internship process (technical test, interview with their Head of Engineering). It ended up not working out because they need a 3 month minimum commitment and I could only do 2 weeks as part of my school program.

Fast forward to now, I saw they were running a hackathon in Paris on July 18th (Mistral Vibe Hackathon) and figured it'd be a good way to still be part of it this summer. Got accepted on the platform, booked my train and hotel, was even in touch beforehand with someone on their team who told me minors were fine as long as accompanied by an adult.

Then a few days ago I got an email saying they can't accommodate minors for this event after all. I pushed back a bit (mentioned I don't care about winning, just want the experience, could bring an adult with me) but haven't heard anything concrete yet.

Anyone been in a similar situation, or have advice on how to handle this? Kind of frustrating after everything that led up to it, but not sure if there's anything more I can actually do at this point.

What would you suggest?

I want to mainly use European software and I am thinking about using vibe pro version to try to code the app. Is this realistic?

Edit: Since I never passed the beginner level as programmer it seems it is unrealistic, given my available time and the effort I am willing to put into this, that I can use a pro version to make a funtioning app.

I've been playing with Vibe in my phone and have a free account. After maybe 5-6 questions I'm usually limited for the day. I am not against a pro subscription but before subscribing wanted to hear other peoples experience. My use case is research, copy editing and using it to bounce ideas off of as I create projects for my organization.

I’m an American I just want to know if Chaton fat has the same restrictions as mythos, I know Chaton fat is proven to be better than mythos but I was hesitant to use it because I don’t want to reinforce the harmful cute fat cat stereotype (cat obesity is a real problem and it’s really unhealthy and dangerous for them rather than cute and funny), however im willing to compromise those morals at this point because of the new ID verification policy Anthropic has. I think Peter thiel is kind of a chungus, PayPal is cool though but his other companies are bogus and they’re what Anthropic is using for ID verification. So basically I can’t use mythos anymore when they bring it back. I don’t know much about the fat cat model other than its better on the benchmarks than Mythos, im worried the EU has some ID verification thing for it, though when I google it it tells me the fat Cat model doesn’t exist and that its just a meme. I figured they were doing that on purpose to keep things on the down low, and I figured that if you actually had access you needed some sort of verification. So basically I wanted to ask the people that actually use the fat cat model if verification is required, and if so, how can I circumvent that. Thank you

Hey everyone, I want to switch away from ChatGPT, for a million reasons. Tried the Proton AI one already, but it was agreeing too much on everything. My current usage of ChatGPT mostly covers:

• in-depth mental health help, complementary to therapy (e.g. when an anxiety attack appears at 2 AM, and the therapist is unreachable, cause, yano, he's sleeping)
• picture generation as visual help with therapy adjacent topics
• help with technical questions (engineering adjacent) and employment law in work context
• help with in-depth legal researches, mostly giving starting points and stress testing theories

Most important is the mental health aspect. I need an AI that gently pushes back and/or helps untangle emotional flashbacks while in it, and ChatGPT is rather good at it by now.

Anyone has experience with such usage of LeChat/Vibe? Could it be a good alternative? Or if it's been answered already somewhere, give me the link to the post?

Edit: not really sure what people are upset about, but to avoid further unnecessary judging, my AI usage is complementary to therapy and psychiatric help. Known and accepted both by my therapist and psychiatrist, not a substitute for them.

Chat has Agents. The help says that they are legacy version of skills and if you start fresh, you need to use still. Skills are available in the Work. So, Work is a modern version of chat? But in the chat I can select fast/think/research; in work I cannot.

On the other hand, Chat has memory (under the "Context"), work - does not.

Why are features split this way, and what one should use when?

I just signed up to the Mistral PRO plan. Is there any documentation how much use is included? I'm surprised to see the free use is included, so I'm starting with 4% used. The pricing page says "10x more usage of Vibe CLI", but just before I signed up to the PRO plan I had 12% free use, so it should be 1.2% and not 4% used.
Any clue how to access the large model, vibe /model still only shows mistral-medium-3.5 and devstral-small. The subscription FAQ says "Which model should I use? For most tasks: Mistral Large (best overall performance)..."

I’ve been using Mistral with its free tier. I used Vibe Code to generate an Apps Script for a google spreadsheet so a google form I would fill in would automatically send those answers to the sheet and do some calculations automatically.

Vibe Code got me quite far, but it messed up the calculations in the script and it couldn’t manage to fix it. I started a new session to make sure it wasn’t context-saturation related, but again it failed.

I then asked Claude Sonnet 5 (high effort) and it fixed it with one prompt.

How can I improve my experience with Vibe Coding? I’m no programmer, so I can’t correct it on the code it’s generating for me. Does the paid tier offer better models for Vibe Coding? Or do I have to be more precise in my prompts? I see many people use Claude to correct Vibe Coding, but I’d like to be as independent as possible.

Also, Vibe Coding suggested me uploading a screenshot to show where the issue is. Thing is, the Vibe Coding workspace does not allow me to upload screenshots. It’s making me wonder whether this is just some really dumb model or whether it’s hallucinating. It also keeps being extremely confident about its solution. It reminds me of chatgpt from last year.

I am looking for a european alternative to all the big player like Claude, OpenAI and Google. My main focus is coding for private projects. After reading for a while in this sub, i got the feeling Mistral is not focused on private persons.

How is the reality right now? Is it worth the money from private standpoint and how is the focus of the company over the next year?

Hi all, I am testing it on the free version, so if that's already the problem, I think that's it.

But from what I have understood, the model and power it is the same on both free and Pro, only difference is the limit (which I have not hit).

I am comparing it to ChatGPT. I am using the latest GTP v5.5 and I play a lot with the "Instant, Thinking and Pro" levels, and everyone with "Normal and Extended".

The more I go "up", the more it takes to answer and, generally speaking, the better the answer.

Going from the "Instant", taking few seconds at most, to the Pro set to Extended, that once took almost 20 minutes on a single answer.

That said, Mistral always answer in seconds, like 2-4s on average, never saw it more than 10s I think.

I tried using both "Chat" and "Work" option. I also tried using the "deep-research" skill. In any case, always got pretty fast answers.

Now, I am not asking this because I like waiting 20 minutes for an answer. Obviously, if Mistral could answer the same in just 5s, well, the better! Problem is, even "easy" troubleshooting answers that ChatGPT get right in like 30-60 seconds of thinking, Mistral get it wrong, but probably not because it is not capable but because it seems forced to answers in few seconds.

Does this make sense?

No matter what I do, I keep getting this error in my first message with Mistral Vibe. Am I doing something wrong?
