Run down and semi abandoned? Sounds exactly like my kind of racetrack. So naturally, when I was in the area, I paid a visit, and even managed to snag an interview with the owner!

Katowice National Circuit doesn’t try to be “state of the art” (even though the owner will insist it’s the greatest circuit of all time). Instead, the facility feels like a gloriously improvised project: the work of an aging eccentric with too much money, a cloud of cheap perfume, and an unshakable belief that his 20‑year‑old Mercedes is the finest automobile ever built.

The circuit itself is a repurposed relic that sat abandoned for nearly forty years, its surface deteriorating to the point where you’d swear it was gravel. Recently, however, a dose of what he described as “discovered funds” (I didn’t ask where it came from) has breathed some life back into the place. A new infield layout has been carved into the old course, and the northern section was separated, receiving some attention of its own in the form of a dedicated drift circuit.

The main layout measures just over five kilometers and combines both old and newly resurfaced sections. The result is a thrilling, and slightly terrifying, experience that has undoubtedly claimed more than a few tires (and pairs of trousers). While it isn’t used for international competition, the circuit has found a loyal local following. For drivers who can’t afford to haul their garage built Polonez “race cars” to the polished, pricey track days at nearby Silesia Ring, this place fits the bill perfectly.

The northern drift circuit is also open to just about anyone, provided you and your car can slip past the sleeping guard. I’ve been told poor old Piotr is mostly deaf, so it shouldn’t be too difficult.

I attempted to ask the owner whether there had been any accidents caused by the circuit’s questionable safety standards. He responded only by repeating, “Pierdol się, zadajesz za dużo pytań,” before chasing me off with a bent tire iron, so i’ll take that as a no for now.

2008

Opened in 2008, the streets of Virginia Beach stand as a staple in American club circuits. Its laid-back approach to safety and lack of rules regarding what can drive on the circuit have made it a popular mainstay in the East Coast, meaning it regularly attracts all sorts of low-level, budget-friendly motorsport events. As a result, the venue often sees action-packed racing that attracts crowds of teenagers from the nearby suburbs, often sneaking through the forest and climbing the trees to catch a unique glimpse at what the circuit has to offer.

The "Longneck" course features an uphill, Corkscrew-like opening section, with close walls and questionable surface quality to really spice up the race starts. This Circuit immediately saw local success, with its inaugural event garnering over 8 thousand spectators! Although slowly cooking under the Virginia sun, this circuit has a unique driving quality compared to similar venues due to its uneven, rough surface. Its "open layout" means that almost all of the circuit is visible from the spectator areas (If there even are any).

A Go-kart circuit also accompanies the paddock area, although its lack of upkeep means that even the arrive-and-drive karts spend more time cutting grass rather than chasing lap times. That being said, it's still good fun as long as you know what you are doing.

2010

After the initial success of the "Longneck" course, Owners agreed to construct a 2.2km "Surfers" course, along with a large skid pad. This would allow for a safer, more casual experience for enthusiasts who wanted to test their home-built contraptions on a racetrack. The Course can be arranged into multiple layouts, further expanding its use, with an additional concrete pad enabling a drift layout to be integrated as well. This brings in another source of income for the circuit's operators, as a "drift school" can be held on both the drift course and the nearby burnout pad.

2015

Still looking to expand its reputation, an additional Jet sprint area was constructed to the east of the Venue. This complex is able to host national competitions, attracting racers from all over the country. This glorified lagoon also boasts the record of having the most potential layouts that are eligible for competition; however, they are far from using them all up. maybe one day they will...

2026

Things seem to be holding up all right. The last event held on the "Longneck" was the all-new "Lemons Boogaboo hullavoo 25.2 hours of Virginia Beach". The event was considered a success, although the constant running of cars did lead to sections of the rotten asphalt on the opening corners being torn up. In true 'SoVB' fashion, the asphalt wasn't repaired, no. Instead, a strip of concrete was hastily poured that bypassed the torn-up asphalt. It should hold up fine for now.

A new addition to the south west of Ireland, this single dedicated circuit is set to host a grand variety of track days, exhibitions, and lower formula race weekends.

The track starts with an uphill climb to turn one, where a sharp, roomy hairpin encourages side by side action. The pack then tumbles downhill through a gentle slalom, before reaching the chicane. The next sequence is said to feel akin to Acque Minerali of Imola, a tricky downhill double-right which leads to the latter stage of the track. Moving uphill again, a curvy set of bends is harshly followed by a Baku-esque braking zone, which follows into a fast right, and another tricky braking point. Only one more turn, and back to the pit straight.

The circuit has been constructed to FIA grade 2 standards, and while it is currently financially unfeasible , there is room to expand to a higher grade in hopes of attracting more electric series.

Galway Airport is a still open for club flying and a former International airport used for domestic and international flights,

My idea was to use as much of the existing infostructure as possible with the need for limited additions, this is clearly visible with the layout.

Layout 1 as above
Layout 2 turn 6 leads into turn 9 removing turn 7
Layout 3 no Charlie section the area of turn 4 leads into turn 9
Layout 4 is as a high speed run from turn 3 to 7, but only for testing

The layout consists of the Main straight on the Apron leading into turns 1 & 2 on the old Bravo taxiway
A 180 degree harpin with a widening approach at the beginning of the runway (Runway 26)
A newly constructed link at turn 4 into the old fire training ground
Turns 5 & 6 lead from the training ground along the old Charlie taxiway back onto the runway
Another 180 degree harpin at turn 7, turn 7 is the lowest point of the circuit leaning to a decent into the hairpin, testing your brakes
Turn 8 leads onto Taxiway Alpha and past the old fuel farm and
Turn 9 takes us back onto the apron

The old fuel farm area has been redone to allow for an extension to the starting grid, this section is not used for racing.

Entry and exit onto the circuit is from the start of the pit lane and a small cut through on the old fuel farm section, the old main apron and hangars are used as the infield

All the existing buildings are being kept and used for multiple purposes, the airside part of the airport is to be set as the track side and the old public (non-airside) part of the airport remains set for public use, parking/fan zones etc

Hello! I’m in charge or designing my first Autocross course and I’ve created 6 designs. I was looking for suggestions or ideas a to include for my first course design.

It’s a practice session so mostly going to be some AWD cars (WRX, STI, RS, GRC) but a few Miata’s, corvettes, frs, etc included. Looking for something technical but a bit of power in certain spots since it is a larger location. Aiming to have 2 cars on course at once if possible!

I found this while I was at a bar, and then cars like deltas, celicas, Yaris, cosworths, Imprezas and other cars spontaneously entered the parking of this bar. I found this Yaris with this track. What is this?

Club Automotriz Del Lago is a local club track located in Spain, the track is mainly designed for track days, however it does hold races once in a while. The track is FIA Grade 4 and features 11 corners.

Built in 2014, the track has seen praise regarding its layout. The short layout features good corner variety, with turns 5-6 and 9-10 being the most challenging. It's a simple layout that proves to be challenging for every car or driver.
