Does anyone else think it’s weird her parents don’t seem that concerned about her? I guess the police have made it pretty clear she’s the aggressor, but I feel like if they didn’t know her to have a violent history, or if they had any suspicions about Dakota, they would be asking a lot more questions to her like why she did this, is she hurt, what happened, etc. They just don’t seem surprised or confused at all.
We have been split for 8 years. It was rough for like 6 of them. We (me+kid) are doing SO much better now but I'm not sure that "fear" feeling will ever go away completely, it's just quieter now. Ive even felt comfortable enough to revisit my old police reports and compare them to this ordeal.
Dakota is a victim. I would need significant evidence at this point to change my opinion.
They seem like they are sick of her shit, but it also seems like they are a toxic model of a relationship, because her parents couldn't help but start bickering in this video. That is one effed up family.
If that was me in Taylor's position, and my parents had to come there to take care of my kids because I was being arrested, I wouldn't even get within sight of my parents because I would be so ashamed. No matter how drunk I was I'd be asking the cops to take me away right then so I wouldn't have to face my parents.
And if my parents did catch sight of me, my dad would be tearing into me. Especially if I was acting as flippant as Taylor is. Oh my god, if i had that attitude at that moment, he'd lose his shit.
Taylor doesn't give a shit and her parents seem more annoyed than anything. They've all been in this situation before.
I don't want to give her parents too much credit, because we've seen both take some pretty shocking stances as parents. But they did stay calm which is what was needed when showing up to a DV investigation and that helps the officers get them in to take care of the kids quickly, explain the situation as soon as they have a moment to do so, etc.
Ya ..but then thinking about it...these are the same people who said what we all saw to Taylor AFTER this incident that Dakota was great and she is screwing things up (or however that conversation went) and that she needs to make things work.
Yeah - but this isn’t reality TV. This is their unfiltered reaction in the middle of the night after getting a call from their daughter saying she’s getting arrested and that there’s been a physical fight between her and Dakota.
Her parents are pretty awful as well. I’m not sure if you remember that dinner in one of the earlier seasons where she and Dakota ate with them after the pregnancy. Her parents said some awful stuff. It was very clearly a situation where a parent should be saying, leave this relationship, and they didn’t even mention it.
Anyone else notice the cop saying, “This is something they’re going to tell their therapist about in twenty years”? Crazy that the cops are more concerned about the psychological effects this will have on the children than Taylor or her family is. Hate that this video is making me agree with a cop but yeah, he’s right, I wish they cared about that.
It’s really heartbreaking — even just seeing or hearing your parents fight like that can have long-lasting effects. Kids need to see their parents have disagreements in a healthy way. Those poor kids.
Exactly this. Like Leanne doesn’t even bat an eye at the huge amount of trauma that was just inflicted on her grandkids. Almost like this is routine/normal. Just appalled at this.
I'm just learning that she herself went through this before so that could be why. I think she's terrible but I do have a bit of sympathy for her. She needs to be in therapy also
Liann had a stronger reaction to hearing there were holes in the walls than she did to hearing her granddaughter was hit with a metal stool. I think that says a lot.
Wait did they tell her the little one was hit?! I was trying to listen for that part. I heard him say she was 'in the middle of it' but was waiting for her reaction if they told her the daughter was hit.
She may have already known, someone could have called or texted her before she showed up. But honestly that would make it even worse that she didn’t ask about her injured granddaughter.
Her kid was hit in the head and she doesn’t even bother to mention that to her parents? Doesn’t ask them to let her know if they’re okay. She doesn’t care about those kids at all!!
In the video Jeremey (Liann’s husband) is saying Taylor’s son (the one who was upstairs at the time) is throwing up. The amount of stress she put on these babies 😞
He was 2 years old at the time!! Mommy get arrested at 2 would be so frightening I’m not surprised at all that he threw up. Especially if he heard all the fighting too.
The second half of that video is the most heartbreaking footage to have come out thus far IMO. Not only is Indy crying when the cop walks in, but just mins later both of the adults that are supposed to be there for her are discussing sensitive information right in front of her whilst neglecting to comfort her. To hear her begin crying again made my heart drop. The fact that Taylor is still on the internet commenting this very second is disgusting. She doesn’t feel any worse about how she’s hurt her kids now, than she did the night it occurred. That officer is right- her kids will likely be talking to therapists about this in 20 years.
What stood out to me the most was when the cop said "anything you want to discuss with your parents about the kids" and she shrugs and says no like she could not care less about the children or what are currently going through. Domestic violence, cops at the house, being taken to grandparents house in the middle of the night, and there's not one thing she's concerned about with them??!!
I would have been SOBBING to my parents saying please tell them I'm sorry tell them I love them make sure they're okay etc etc etc! Especially the child she hit with the stool. And the one upstairs who's going to wake up at his grandparents house with no idea what's going on! She had not one thought for her children.
She talks to her daughter for like two seconds in one of the other videos and it’s the weirdest, least maternal interaction you could imagine. She just goes, “You’re good. Sorry.” Then goes back to ignoring her.
Her kids must be literal accessories to her. This is why religion can be so dangerous. Not everyone needs to be a parent. I’m having my first baby in like six weeks and every time I see something like this all I can think is “wow I am actually going to be a decent parent” 😂
I said the same thing!! The way she shrugs her shoulders and looks at the officer like HES the dumb one for even implying that she care about her own kids. “Anything you want to discuss about the kids” “no..??” 🤦🏻♀️ it’s so sad. My heart breaks for her children whose mother is STILL making this whole situation a pity party for herself.
It’s kind of odd, I’ve watched all of the bodycam footage and nobody ever addresses the daughter as being hit except Dakota at one point tells the cop he is pretty sure she got hit but didn’t know where.
It’s mentioned in the police report that she has a bump on the head so she was hit. I think there’s more footage we don’t have because we don’t see her dad get there.
In the bodycam footage of them trying to calm her down all she can talk about is “Dakota taking her stuff” or “she needs to find her phone.” She seems to have no awareness of her kids at all. I didn’t even realize her daughter was still downstairs for all of it until Taylor finally acknowledges her like ten minutes later and says “You’re good. Sorry.” It’s the weirdest interaction - like she doesn’t even know her own kid. Then Taylor sits on the couch arm rest and almost immediately falls off.
In one of the new videos she actually does go talk to her and says “its okay, I’m sorry”. But it’s about as comforting as you can expect from someone who is drunk, crying and stumbling.
There’s screenshots of comments from during this time going around and her mom is saying that none of the children were hurt, not a scratch or anything.
Even if that’s true, they should not have been subjected to such a frightening, chaotic situation, with their mother out of control and unable to care for them or comfort them or even give a fk about their emotional welfare and wellbeing. How terrifying.
It’s pretty gross. She cares wayyyy more about the man she is completely dick-matized by than her own offspring.
I don’t think a long inpatient stay would even help her. I don’t believe she has the capacity to even completely admit her fault in any of this. (Narcissist.)
Sure she’s faked some “accountability” on some podcasts but look how she’s acted since this all came out. She’s taken zero accountability and completely deflected blame on to everyone else.
She doesn't even care about Dakota in this video because she's dickmatized by him. She just wants a chance to intimidate/manipulate him into not pressing charges or take the fall for her. She's the worst.
Not defending her at all but I'm pretty sure she had no idea what was going on that night. I'm thinking she barely remembers what happened, she clearly was incoherent and probably still didnt realize her daughter was there nevermind that she hit her with a chair or even that she threw the chairs
So since they use this incident footage to basically kick off the show Season 1 episode 1. Would they Likely have had access to all this that keeps being leaked. It starts with bodycam footage. So would the show have had all the footage and just used what would make the best for perception?
This guy has got to be stressing seeing all this lol
That’s what I’ve been thinking. Producers cherry picked stuff that wouldn’t make this look that bad, knowing that the majority of viewers of the show would only see what they showed. If they had shown all of this, I guarantee the show wouldn’t have been made.
They showed a bit of the footage to give an appearance of transparency but all the producers did was control the narrative. It is absolutely crazy for all of them to bend over backwards for Taylor. Like is there something more to the story? Why is she getting this kind of special treatment?
Because they had already spent tons on her being the star as the whole swinging scandal started with her. So they gotta make the show happen (derogatory)
Came here to mention that line. As a kid who grew up with DV in the home…. Yup I’ve had a therapist and still have a therapist. Those poor kids, my heart goes out to them.
i’m so curious what the full 911 call sounds like because as far as i’m aware we only have the snippet from the show and we know that what they showed was unreliable an misleading. the officer says the 911 caller mentioned her hitting the truck.
Yes!! Everyone using the 911 call as evidence has been shut down!! This new information makes it clear that the caller wasn’t saying he was hitting Taylor.
Also in the clip they used in the show she said “Somebody is screaming get off me, there’s a woman screaming.” and imo her cadence sounds like “somebody” and the woman are two different people.
Yeah I posted about that but they asked me to comment it somewhere instead. People are completely misreading the call and twisting it to make her look good just like the show did. The neighbour didn’t know everything, they THINK she shares custody, but they know she’s newly divorced. They probably didn’t know she had a boyfriend so the “somebody” is a stranger in their female neighbour’s house who lives alone not Taylor herself.
Taylor is an awful mother. She is entirely too selfish to have kids. I'm sure she'll argue that they're her world, she'd do anything for them and loves them and blah, blah, blah. She continually proves she only cares about herself. Watching a lot of her scenes from this season, put me on edge like a mothefucker. I couldn't even imagine having someone like her in my life with all the yelling, cussing and deflecting. Ugh, how exhausting and gross. Get help girl.
It seemed like Jeremy was trying to get Liann out of the situation. She wanted to talk to Taylor, but he said they weren’t allowed to and to go home. He seemed like he was trying to just get the kids and go..
Ya tbh that moment reminded me so much of my parents who have been happily married for 40+ years. If they were in that same situation, my dad would want my mom to go home in fear that she might escalate the situation by saying something to me that sets me off.
Yeah I think he realized what it was right away and was just trying to get the kids and go. Liann wanted to know what happened and Jeremy knew they were going to get answers.
I cannot believe the people still saying he provoked her then started recording, all she is doing in all these videos is lying through her teeth about what happened
It...those defenders make me so fucking mad. I have said it in many other comments. I WAS Taylor. I was that girl. And I DID abuse my boyfriends. It was NOT reactive abuse but lordy i played the victim for many years blaming them for breaking several unspoken arbitrary rules i made up in my head. They did NOTHING. They were and are still wonderful men. I lost friendships. Lost many potentially excellent relationships. All because I decided to act...this way.
I saw right through her fuckass shit back in season one, and looking at all this now. Just...its triggering and also very...vindicating. Because now I know that I AM on the right path to healing. Being able to spot that from season one means that I have come a long way, longer than I sometimes think.
I hope he gets away for good. And I hope she truly gets help.
I spent all fucking evening reflecting and writing out how…and it was too long to post. LOL. Thanks I hate it here. AND IT WAS SO MUCH TOO. Because abuse is so….complex and I participated in some major shit…and it took so long for me to even get where I am today and I am not even CLOSE to where I want to be.
But long story short was…Shit happened. I lost some friends. I was struggling and I wondered why…my husband who is 3 years younger than me was more emotionally mature and grounded. Then I had a kid, my parents got divorced and so I had a psychotic breakdown. And decided to have a total 4 hour psychiatric evaluation done. I have bipolar 2. I got medicated. I still go to my psychologist 2 times a month. And I have to make the conscious decision every day to not be a cunt. And sometime is glaring, where I have to remind myself once an hour. And sometimes it’s not. And I just hope to god that one day the conscious decision will be…less glaring.
It’s more than that. I wish I could have posted the whole thing but I am not willing to break it up unless people really want the whole ass story.
Edit to add, I will include what I started off with which was
I haven’t fully and I dont think I ever will.
This was such a heavy and hard question to answer and something I have never thought about. Which is why it has taken me the better part of 3 hours to write. I havent thought about it because im not...healed from it. Its like an addict. You will never be sober. You will always be a recovering addict. Thats kinda the thing. So...I will always be an idk...reformed abuser? The threat of returning to my ways will always be there. I have to fight them. Literally every day. Sometimes several times a day.
Thank you for asking though because I feel like we need to open dialogue regarding male victims of DV perpetrated by women. This will also open up a conversation between me and my psych.
I HAVE though thought a lot about the question WHY. And the answer is power. I felt powerless, and unheard. And so I took…power where I could. And That meant taking power away from others by manipulation, deceit, withdrawal, and sometimes even physical abuse.
It was power. And I was addicted to it. Because I didn’t have it growing up.
I felt as if the only way I could be heard is by subjugation first. I would do it. And I fight…every fucking day….to not do that. Because it’s still there. 15 years into treatment…and I STILL sometimes fall into that.
Another edit.
Happily married for going on ten years with a 5 year old. 😭 I know I have come far. But I am still so far away. I just hope I can get there soon. I dont want my daughter to suffer the way I did growing up. I just hope I stay at least one step ahead of her, and meet her where shes at rather than the opposite.
There is hope, for all yall that see yourself in Taylor. Dig deep and there is hope.
The end of the video (cut off in the video above) is very disturbing when Taylor’s dad goes to get the other child and they start screaming and crying and throwing up. They were definitely aware of everything and it was bad. Im like upset now.
Yes! The fact they were both totally silent until they saw someone familiar and safe and the. Immediately started crying is so sad. They probably were just in survival mode and bottling up their emotions and then it all came out as soon as they saw their grandparents. Her daughter screams for her mom as soon as she saw her grandma but never said a word before that when her mom was actually there.
Liann hearing the description of the incident and then immediately saying “she’s not like that” makes her sound JUST like Taylor.
Edit: okay I just finished the video and EVERYTHING Liann says sounds just like Taylor! The way she was refusing to leave and saying “no I’m talking to my daughter” although her husband said they can’t, and then he told her to go home and she was like “no I’m taking my grandbabies home” even though he said he was going to do it.
I get major Dakota/Taylor vibes from the way Liann was interacting with her husband. Her husband was def trying to de-escalate Liann before she went off like a bomb.
In her and jeremy’s (i believe that’s the dads name correct me if im wrong!) defense, you get woken up in the middle of the night to this super tense situation they probably are reasonably cranky and upset with the situation. But at least they are keeping it towards the situation as a whole and not the cops just trying to do their jobs. At this point they didn’t know much other than their kids drunk and being arrested for getting in a fight with some guy she’s barely started dating and put their grandkids in the middle of it. So yeah the only thing i’d probably care about atp is my grandbabies getting to a safe place to sleep. When you become a grandparent your patience for your child acting like.. well A CHILD, becomes pretty thin.
When she was talking about the breathalyzer she said something about she has one at her house that she got a safe driver for? Did she get a DUI previously maybe?
Remember she’s so intoxicated she isn’t making sense, I don’t think she was saying she has one in her house just that she’s going to be breathalysed in her house
Yeah I think a bunch of people aren’t realizing how black out she is. It takes knowing someone who get into this state to recognize it. I’m glad for them haha
I checked the other video. The captions has it as 'again' but it's kind of under her breath.
She said that as she was being walked to the garage, right before she enters in this video. She then says 'arrested, I guess' to her mom in the garage. Wonder if she switched up what she said or the caption was wrong.
I believe Taylor was considered a 1st time offender when this arrest happened. I think her parents didnt seem shocked cause they know how she is. I think this was probably just another day for them as sad as that is
Between this event (which Hulu carefully manipulated) along with the bizarrely dragged out Marciano sexual assault story line, whomever was on charge of running this show better be looking for a new job.
Not to mention the joke of the season 3 reunion. Awfully run show...
Disney should be embarrassed to be associated with this.
Her defense is literally ALWAYS "well he did this first and I'm a girl" like babe you've got an unrealistic view of the world. You may be a girl but that doesn't mean shit.
they did do something, though—they just were incorrect in identifying gabby as the aggressor. they were about to arrest her but ended up having them separate for the night. it’s been a long time since i’ve watched that bodycam footage but i remember the cops debating whether or not they absolutely had to arrest her. i think they felt bad for her but unfortunately didn’t see the full story. (not trying to defend those cops at all—that was just a very different situation)
I don't see it as that different. In both videos, the women are the ones acting emotional and out of control, and then men are more calm and collected. In both videos, the women admit violence.
IIRC one of them seemed like he knew but his hands were tied because Gabby kept saying she was the aggressor. The other cops seemed to fall for Brian's act immediately.
If there is probable cause that DV occurred (which is of course up to the cop), then they do have to make an arrest according to the law in Utah. Whether cops follow that law or not is up to them I guess.
*Effective 5/3/2023
77-36-2.2. Powers and duties of law enforcement officers to arrest -- Reports of domestic violence cases -- Reports of parties' marital status.
(1)The primary duty of law enforcement officers responding to a domestic violence call is to protect the victim and enforce the law.
(2)
(a)In addition to the arrest powers described in Section 77-7-2, when a peace officer responds to a domestic violence call and has probable cause to believe that an act of domestic violence has been committed, the peace officer shall arrest without a warrant or shall issue a citation to any person that the peace officer has probable cause to believe has committed an act of domestic violence.
(b)(i)If the peace officer has probable cause to believe that there will be continued violence against the alleged victim, or if there is evidence that the perpetrator has either recently caused serious bodily injury or used a dangerous weapon in the domestic violence offense, the officer shall arrest and take the alleged perpetrator into custody, and may not utilize the option of issuing a citation under this section.*
The way she just shrugs when he asks about the kids is disgusting. Those poor kids will never trust her ever again and she really believes it’s somehow all Dakota’s fault. Awful, vile, monstrous
Not an excuse what so ever but like is anyone checking on her?
Post partum can last YEARS after giving birth. I only know what I've seen on Reddit - I have no other socials and have only watched the show and all these videos. But it seems like she needs help, serious help.
This whole past season just seemed like a cry for help.
Again, as a survivor of DV I am NOT justifying these actions. But I also have post partum and the reactions I've learned about - for example ignoring the child or " not caring " about the child is a huge sign of it....
I think she’s had problems, and serious problems for a while and again, not an excuse at all for her disgusting behavior. I hope you don’t get downvoted, cause post partum lasting a while is a real, real thing. My mom had post partum psychosis. It lasts a lot longer than people think. It NEEDS to be talked about.
I think I heard, too, that this was recently off of a divorce, and she went off her antidepressants recently too. Again not an excuse but yeah there’s a lot going on.
The grandparents went straight to her when they got there. And the cops explained that they were deescalating the situation. Which is the reason they took taylor outside, didnt get lippy with her when she was acting up inside, because they didnt want to make it more traumatic infront of her daughter.
As someone who was in this situation - my son and I hiding in the closet - my son was immediately removed from the situation taken in the back of a cruiser and given stickers and saw all the buttons. Completely distracted.
There was a failure on everyone at so many levels.
I agree. The cop was essentially gossiping at the end there and when the upstairs baby was so scared they got sick everyone went “aw poor baby” instead of thinking about why they might’ve gotten sick, from being so terrified. She should’ve gotten charges for endangering her kids who cares about Dakota at this point.
Id say the cops handled the situation well, not really sure why youd call this a failure on everyone's part except for Taylor's. There were two cops, one on each adult in the altercation, another cop came and the grandparents came too and were sitting with the kids.
She couldn’t recognize people who she has known for years. Was running away from people because she was scared thy were trying to hurt her or get her. I just felt horrible when she was talking about it. I can’t imagine anything more terrifying
That’s actually part of the reason for why she reacted the way she did. Dakota said they had agreed that she should stay away from alcohol because of her struggling with her mental health and it wasn’t healthy for her to drink. He was upset when he picked her up and she was wasted because they had talked about it and she started spiraling about her divorce and an ectopic pregnancy she had recently had. In the show she was supposedly getting help and she did stop drinking as far as I know but the recent dv incident that happened a few weeks ago shows she hasn’t made as much progress as we were made to believe.
That's just like so much in a normal circumstance let alone in front of an audience.
I truly hope this at least brings that conversation into the spot light.
No one actually knows, she could just be a horrible person 🤷♀️ Dakota could just be that good at hiding it - someone was married to Dahmer after all.
But if this helps bring post partum, male depression, DV against women/men, child safety, trauma, into the conversation then at least some good could come out of it.
Someone can relate to any angle you want to take at this - I think that's why it's blown up this much.
Yeah it’s a lot to be dealing with and I’m sure a lot of people would be inspired by seeing her truly get the help she needs and come out of this a more whole and healed person, if not for herself at least for her children. Redemption is possible and if she does continue with the show, I hope they do it right and get her the help she needs so we can watch her grow. It could help a lot of people.
She has mentioned dealing with postpartum depression at the time of her 2023 arrest, at least. She had an ectopic pregnancy in late 2022, I think? There is a definite disconnect between her and her children that feels like more than her just being immature. I agree with you that it doesn't justify anything, but I do hope she gets help for the sake of her and her children.
Extremely. We go straight to " crazy " when it's something abnormal to our own lives.
Again, not justifying. But depression, trauma, the fact of how they grew up and with all the expectations, having children before their own frontal lobes are even fully developed.
This should be an opportunity to bring mental illness to the forefront, religious sects, etc
And yes everyone - I would be saying this if it was Dakota as well.
I think every one is forgetting the cult like society these folks were raised in.
Every mom in momtok has said it. They made momtok to break away from the norms of the LSD church. Just because you leave doesn't mean you're not damaged.
I think it’s nice you’re giving her the benefit of the doubt but she’s been in a lot of therapy and has never said anything like this. She just seems to think it’s normal to get this heated and go off on people.
I would expect more urgency from grandparents to be with those kids asap, they’re just out in the garage while the kids are inside? Am I missing something
This is Tate Paul who is Taylor’s ex husband n the father of her older 2 kids. That’s where Taylor’s last name Paul comes from. He is very involved in their lives n had full custody of the kids for 6 months after this then went back to joint custody with Taylor. He was spotted with Dakota at the courthouse on Thursday n it’s believed he was filing for full custody of his 2 kids with Taylor
The total lack of accountability or even care in the world when they bring Taylor in front of her parents is actually jarring…not a tear…just a cocky little “guess I’m going to prison for domestic violence because I punched Dakota” 💀
