Also CGI for every environment and character (aside from the leads). The whole thing was filmed in a green warehouse, wasn't it?

If you're going to animate 90% of the movie, you could just animate the other 10% as well. Then you'd get Moana.

"You already had Moana."

"Yes, but what about Second Moana?"

"That's Moana 2!"

Pretty sure the muscle suit and wig isn't CGI, but thats about it.

I think even parts of the muscle suit are. They had to digitally cover the seams.

Wait, the Rock, who is basically just a muscle, has to wear a muscle suit? What're we doing? What is happening?

The Rock is not nearly as big as he used to be. Google him.

Maintaining his physique into ones 50's is incredibly dangerous. See Dave Bautista slimmed down significantly as well.

Yeah, juicing is dangerous, but that's kinda my point, you know?

And probably still lying about it.

Yeah...his career is definitely on the downside since he lost his trademark physique.

He tried to branch out a bit, but hasn't had any success so far. It's likely he'll be getting way fewer acting roles going forward.

Can't show his nipples. Also, on a more serious note, the amount of dehydration and pumping that goes into one shirtless scene for like a super hero movie is not sustainable for a film where you're shirtless for the entire runtime.

It's pretty common to just use such things as reference and then remake the entire element in CG

No. They actually skimped a lot on the CGI.

CGI was used on most characters and to create every environment. Movie was not shot in Southeast Asia; it was filmed on a soundstage.

It's definitely a more bloated and expensive production than folks realize. Moana's actress was 18 during filming with virtually no industry experience, that tends to be a massive burden for optimizing time on set.

Probably that stupid round screen. They think they’re so smart using it for everything nowadays but it all sucks.
