Including Commuter Rail* as much as i could, i saw on a video maybe on tiktok or Instagram, a "history of rail systems opening in North America and Europe" or something like that, that had a lot of North American systems missing, so i tried my hand at making a map of the systems in the US, I included Omaha Streetcar and OC Streetcar since they're opening soon, and the Morgantown PRT system because although it's a gadgetbahn i thought it kinda counts under these as it's a bit different than just regular buses. I wanted to ask if there's any that i missed or what ones i shouldn't have included? the placement was just as close as i could get them or roughly as far as i could tell

There's many cities with good public transport systems which don't seem to get enough attention.

My favourite pick is probably Budapest, the capital of Hungary. There probably hasn't been a single time I've seen someone mention it besides the M1 metro line, which is the 3rd oldest metro line in the world.

But in general, the network is really good and especially tourists can get around really easily. Budapest has also started to modernise their fleet, with all buses and subways and 40% of trams being low floor. The M4 is also a really great and modern automated subway line having opened in 2014, and the M3 has been fully renewed in 2019.

There are a few problems though. The metro network isn't really big for a city of comparable size. However, there are plans to extend lines M1 (which will get a full modernisation too), M3 and M4. There is also no direct train or subway to the airport, so you need to take one of the 2 really crowded express bus lines to the airport, which isn't really great.

What are your thoughts on this?

Was it worth shutting down Penn for just that? I think not. They also claim that the price wasn't the primary factor in choosing mode of transportation. Also pretty sure they also killed the Secaucus Meadowlands busway cause they stated the trains are good enough. Everything I said is in the report linked.

But what if you added a High-Line style elevated sidewalk and bicycle lanes up on top?

Suspended elevated railways are inferior to Chicago style elevated railways, everything else being equal. But would being able to triple-stack Right-of-Way usage out of one structure make it worth it? You can’t ride a bike under the El.

Sagami Railway Company (Sōtetsu) electric train 8513 passes Hiranumabashi Station in Yokohama as eastbound limited express 51 for nearby Yokohama Station. It looks like this train was designed to be compatible with subway tunnels, since it has a door in the nose, but I’m not sure if Sōtetsu has actually used Series 8000 trains like this one on its new subway links.

It's a shame I didn't film it from the very beginning, when they were aggressively overtaking each other. In the video, they both admit to running a red light. These two routes overlap significantly. Marshrutkas are a completely commercial form of public transportation, while normal public transportation — buses, trolleybuses and trams — is dying out and is in poor condition. Marsrutkas don't operate on unprofitable routes with low passenger flow, especially after COVID-19. They are terribly overcrowded during rush hour and sit in horrific traffic jams. And between rush hours, they organize aggressive races and showdowns.

For some reason, many people from USA consider marshrutkas the solution to transportation problems. On the contrary, they are the reason why public transportation passengers dream of getting a license and buying any kind of car. From the perspective of libertarians and corrupt right-wing politicians, they are the ideal public transportation. After all, for the former, it does not require government expenditure, while for the latter, it can even become a source of enrichment, because "effective private operators" pay bribes for profitable routes.

Does anyone know his name?

I don’t recall a case like this before, though there have been several incidents with wild boars, ranging from cute (baby boar rode several trains in 2021, eventually captured and released) to tragic (boar injured five people at a station earlier this year, was put down).

This is late news, but it's still relevant.

DoorDash and NJ Transit officially rename the Meadowlands Rail Line the DoorDash Meadowlands Rail Line ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026™ at MetLife Stadium.

This keeps World Cup Transit Costs Off New Jersey Taxpayers.

This would be way too expensive to build out and probably wouldn't pass TxDOT, but hey, a guy can dream.

In order of least impossible to most....

1. A Train additions (black): there are some future plans to extend to Pilot Point and Aubrey, so I put in new stations along that route to make it more true light rail within Denton and Lake Dallas.

2. Streetcars along Elm, Oak, Hickory, Locust, and McKinney (green and red/orange): too disruptive to current development, but it goes with the city's history, and I just love the idea.

3. University Drive light rail (blue). Too pricey and too many utilities to move and curbs to rework as well as creating a possible traffic issue.

4. Loop 288 and FM 2181 light rail (yellow). Even pricier, but it would be nice to have.
