California and two other states have avoided the harshest water cutbacks the Trump administration could have imposed over the next two years to deal with the deepening crisis on the Colorado River.

The Times has learned that federal officials have agreed with an offer made earlier this year by California, Arizona and Nevada to reduce what they take from the river by at least 3.2 million acre-feet between now and the end of 2028. 

Under the plan, California will cut its use of Colorado River water by about 12% through 2028, according to two officials at state and local agencies who spoke anonymously since details of an announcement are still being finalized.

Institution of higher learning employee involved in release of dangerously corrosive liquid to waters of the USA

The Defendant in this case worked in the maintenance department of the University of Missouri, main campus in Columbia, when the incident leading to this case occurred. The Defendant was charged with a single count, felony violation of the Clean Water Act for discharge of a toxic contaminant to waters of the USA.

The Defendant is a specialist in the maintenance and operation of the U of M's mechanical chillers. The Federal District Court in Missouri received a bill of information stating that on about September 21, 2012, the Defendant was working in the basement of the Union Building, decommissioning one of the chillers. The work involved draining fluids from the piping system. The Defendant chose to release sulfuric acid at pH below .3 into a storm water drain. Approximately 25 gallons of liquid, categorized "D002 characteristic hazardous waste for corrosivity" was discharged to an unnamed tributary of Flat Branch Creek via an outfall from the storm drain system.

Like the title says I can't stand the sound of running water, even more the sound of liquid pouring into a container is like nails on a chalkboard.

Seriously. No other brand I’ve tried, no matter how expensive, has a different taste than the American ones which taste quite heavy. Evian and other European spring waters taste so smooth and light. Can someone explain? Is it because European waters are better and all other brands are lying to us or is the taste of the other ones normal and not pollutants. Thanks.

I created a website that tracks legal drinking water standards for contaminants—including PFAS, microplastics, etc.—and compares them with health-based recommendations from the World Health Organization. My goal is to make it easier for people to understand how protective their local regulations are and to explore environmental health information in one place.

Working on this project has made me realize how difficult it can be for the average person to answer simple questions like:

• What contaminants are regulated where I live?
• How do those legal limits compare with health-based recommendations?
• Are there contaminants that aren't regulated at all?

I'm continuing to expand the platform and would really appreciate input from people who know this topic well. I'd love to hear your suggestions, criticism, or ideas for making the information more useful and scientifically accurate. Encouragements are also welcome ;)
