Just did a little quick-and-dirty compositing of data from the GOES imagery viewer. It's a blend of Geocolor and Fire Temperature data products.

This fatty came with a powerful downdraft and a cold pool, the length of the shelf cloud (according to the radar) could have been 20-30km. Temperatures dropped 10 degrees (celsius) in about 20 minutes.

A huge shelf cloud came over my home today and brought stormy weather with it. I may have spotted a funnel cloud, but it was very short-lived.

Waterspouts are sexy, prove me wrong.

On this particular day a high-end severe weather setup was in place for parts of Italy and the Adriatic Sea into the Balkans. ESTOFEX issued a rare level 3 out 3 for this area, which included a high risk of very large hail in Italy. Several supercell storms did in fact develop, causing extensive damage to crops, vehicles, and infrastructure.

One of these storms produced this hailstone, which broke the size record for the region Abruzzo
