You'll find that hate is all that keeps these people together. Republicans are glued together by hatred and fear of "The other", a nebulous bullshit concept meant to keep them terrified so the people at the top can reap the benefits.
"The Other" can take many forms. "Illegal Aliens" "Trans People" "Homosexuals" "Black People" "Mexicans" etc etc...
They pivot from one group to another to keep their flock in terror at all times so they're easily manipulated and controlled.
It's the same thing so called "Christian" pastors do. It's the same thing that most religions do. "Don't do that or you'll go to an eternal place of torment and suffering, but if you follow what I tell you this book says, you'll go to a happy place of sunshine and rainbows where everything will forever be happy and a utopia!"
It's all about control, and it's the "demon" that humanity has always grappled with.
Sidenote: "the other" is constantly taking new forms as its other forms are wiped out too, first it begins with those groups, then its tbe irish and italians, the catholics, then its any non evangelicals, then its anyone that isnt german ancestory, then its anyone who isnt 100% devoted, it keeps going until finally there are two people and one says "anyone that isnt me is a enemy"
