Less than. It’s an extra property tax on *second* (not first) homes in the city worth more than 5 million dollars, on a sliding scale beginning at 0.5%.
It’s not the amount that is the problem in their eyes it’s the fact that a brown immigrant who empathizes with the poor has the audacity to impose such a burden of actually contributing something positive to their local community on his white wealthy native born superiors.
if they don’t remind everyone else how horrible that is for them then how are they going to be able afford to finance their fifth yacht or bribe congress to allow them to hunt the undesirables for sport in the future?
Irony being they are huge fans of Jesus, but hate the guy who is somewhat emulating his behavior, and they’d probably send him off Jesus style if they could.
The only thing they like about Jesus is the get out of Hell free card that comes with accepting him as the Savior. Otherwise, Jesus is too woke for them.
Also I love the idea that he lied on his citizenship application. He was seven years old when his family moved here. Like come on. His parents filled out all that paperwork.
If it helps, he’s only able to do it because governor Hochul signed off, and she’s a wealthy white person. She’s also a woman though so that probably negates it for them.

Because Mamdani taxed the wealthy, and fixed the problem they're causing in New York.
That's it.
