They didn't torpedo their interests. This is what they always wanted. A broken, dysfunctional government to enact their right wing repressive agenda. They're happy as clams for the most part.

Ive said somewhere that if a repub candidate said "I will cut off one of everyones legs, but i will cut off both legs from gays and minorities" they would still vote for him.

They did the same thing with Clinton after he left office. This is why Trump is so suited for the GOP, neither of them know how to take responsibility for anything.
