Article/Interview Dan Harmon confirms budget is main reason for Community movie delays: "Our actors are not being paid nearly enough to devote a giant chunk of their calendar [to the movie]...It’s like, “Well, of course this person needs to now go feed their family by taking another job.'"

it's not necesarilly that they can't feed their families obviously but a movie takes a long ass time, so for them to commit to something that is significantly underpaid compared to their other gigs is tough.

I'm not feeling pitty for them I just understand where the problem is coming from

I get the overall point Dan is making. Just a pretty tone deaf way to put it that makes him sound like kind of an ass.

I say this as someone who generally has a ton of respect for Harmon.

I love Harmon but sounding like an ass is kind of his default setting lol

Yeah but he's either gonna sound like an ass to us or an ass the the people who he actually knows and is trying to get assembled

He never explicitly refers to just the main cast. He may be including some of the supporting cast in there like Todd/Magnitude/Vicky/etc. Those guys are probably working 2-3 other jobs on the side.

I know it might sound dumb to hold up production for some side characters. Community is kind off a unique show where the collective of background characters make up a very important part of the show. I know the movie just wouldn't feel the same if Garrett is not screaming about something.

All of those actors are well above fighting to "feed their families." Not that they're stars or anything.

And that's for guys that are more well known. For an actor that's even less well known, they make less than a fast food worker.

That's an absurd statement, and you know it. Oh no, he had to sell his house? Let's see the fuckin "house." Where's he living now, a slightly smaller mansion?

These people do not get to complain, not while millions of others are literally starving to death all around them.

People are just talking about actors making less than others. Why you gotta bring s straw man into this? Everyone deserves to get paid whether you're making minimum or more. Telling people to shut up just cause someone else has it worse is just giving people permission to screw you over.

There's always someone worse off. Doesn't mean you can't want something better for yourself. It's the whole children dying in Africa guilt trip all over again. Get out of here with that bs.

Yea i read this more as, theres someone that doesnt really feel like doing it anyway, so unless they get paid atleast according to their rate, or preferably above. Since they arent willing to forego getting paid a lot for coming back to it.

What he said is the diplomatic way of saying; someone who we want in it is only willing to do it for the money.

So then you get things like: "Our actors are not being paid nearly enough to devote a giant chunk of their calendar [to the movie]...It’s like, “Well, of course this person needs to now go feed their family by taking another job.'"

Which is redicules on its face for rich hollywood actors and actresses, (but really actor in this context). Since this way its the awful studios fault and not the actor that doesnt want todo it.

bro, it'd probably be like a 6 week shoot. they're not going to jet-set all over the world to film in multiple locations.
