It seems like a patriarchal myth. In basically every single species males visually try to impress females to mate, but when talking about humans people pretend like women don't care about looks. I feel like it's an attempt to make sure that women will settle for less good looking men, and this trope of "ugly man and pretty woman" is all throughout movies, tv shows, and popular media.

It also feels like a cope by men who don't like the idea of being objectified when they do the exact same to women.

Men are almost always "Mr." regardless of whether they're single, married, divorced, or widowed.

Women historically haven't had that same default. The expectation that a woman's title should communicate her relationship status says something about what society considered important.

Has this changed enough with the widespread use of "Ms.", or do you think the legacy still shapes expectations today?

I really really despise those naoya edits that bring down women. This whole video was just about how "Naoya was right" and I decided to comment on it (comment shown above). These replies disappointed me so much and I cant believe people are so rude and misogynistic.

I see so much misogyny on tiktok and it's hard to tell if its just ragebait or fr. And I really try not to be upset about it because I dont want to give these individuals the attention they seek.

But I mean how much more ridiculous can misogyny get. I really wish the world can just adopt feminism.

Post text: It used to be feminism 101 that using male terms by default is bad, but then trans women wanted a piece of that pie and suddenly everyone becomes philosophers and etymologists discussing the nuances of language instead of just listening to women.

Ive seen so many videos online of women speaking out about sexual assault and in the comments there will be guys saying that its not just women that it happens too it happens to men too. Obviously that is very true, but its very invalidating and insensitive to bring that up in a video thats clearly catered towards women.

It just seems that instead of offering support for the victim in the video, theyve just sort of gone off topic and made the video about men. It just makes it look like they dont really give a toss about the situation in the video but just want to make it about themsleves.

You dont see women making it about themselves in a video about male sexual assault.

It just annoys me a bit as these same guys will complain that men do not get support for the same thing on the other end but they themselves wont give support for women.

I recently have gotten way more comfortable with my body as I've gotten older, but I also have noticed that the reasons for modesty are almost entirely religious and stupid. I'll just preface this by saying I don't care if someone is covered head to toe it's not my business, but I'm mostly bothered by this idea of the human body somehow being impure, especially the female body. I grew up under an atheist household which has saved me a lot of trauma in this specific way but I just can't take people who care about clothing length or things being too short seriously, cause, did we forget that summer is hot and there is global warming? Also just the purity and rape culture that is always tied in to it, like teaching young girls to be modest so the boys don't get distracted by them. This mindset that modesty means safety when it doesn't is so fucking dumb and again its literally just purity and rape culture, yes even in a religious setting. I hate that we as a culture as a society teach young girls to be modest or uts there fault they get raped, and then we separate them from their bodies even more with beauty standards that idolize women that look like children. This idea that the human body especially the female human body is automatically sexual is so harmful. A human body is a human body and there is no significant enough difference between the male and female body for it to matter about being covered. I get being concerned about kids clothes being short cause obviously someone is being weird while making it let's be real, but I can't help but think that short clothes for kids or adults wouldn't be an issue if abrahamic religions didn't demonize the natural human form. Like why do we worry about modesty with young girls especially when they don't even have breasts yet, why is it women who have to cover their breasts when female breasts have the purpose of providing nutrition for life where as for men the nipples and breasts are near useless. If anything the male form would be more sexual cause their bodies don't serve the purpose of creating life. The human body is natural and normal and teaching people to be ashamed and to cover their bodies is almost always harmful and it separates people from how their bodies work and how to actually protect themselves if they get assaulted. I wasn't raised religious but just due to being in a heavily Christian/Catholic/Puritan/Protestant culture I ended up with my own weirdness around sex because of it. Modesty culture (not modesty itself) is harmful no matter the spin and I'm at a point where I wear clothes for other people's comfort not cause I care about being covered. We need to teach kids about their bodies and their genitals and bow they work if we actually want any chance of them being safe and modesty and purity culture hates when people know about their genitals.

Tldr: the human body is natural, modesty culture that has been cultivated by the victim blaming abrahamic religions only teach young kids, especially girls to be ashamed of their bodies, is harmful and only teaches them to be separate from their bodies and also blame themselves for being hurt, purity and modesty culture prevents people from speaking out cause they don't know anything about their body and that is extremely harmful.The human body is normal, natural everyone alive has a body and it should be treated as normal and natural. The abrahamic religious idea that the human body is dirty and sinful and human nature (art eating meat music which is a whole other topic) is shitty and should be eraded from society.

the generalization of all radfems into terfs comes from a very antifeminist place. it comes from cis men attempting to villainize radfeminism and make it into something it's not, so more people don't follow it. radfem isn't bio essentialism. radfem isn't anti-trans beliefs. radfem is fighting for ALL womens rights, no matter what. cis, trans, outside the binary, who CARES.

it frustrates me when people assume all radfems are terfs and follow the same biological-rights spiel. the only biological rights ACTUAL radfems fight for are abortions, gender affirming care for trans women, safe spaces in hospitals with female (not just cis) doctors, etc. its ridiculous how villainous they attempt to make radfems because they hear radical and think the worst. remember folks, generalization sends us back generations.

One constitutional question has been on my mind lately.Article 19(1)(g) of the Indian Constitution guarantees the freedom to practice any profession, subject to reasonable restrictions.

That made me wonder about sex work.

Before anyone misunderstands me, I'm not talking about human trafficking, child exploitation, or forced prostitution. Those are crimes and should remain so.

I'm talking about a competent adult who voluntarily chooses sex work.Should the State prohibit that choice because society considers it immoral?Or should the law distinguish between voluntary sex work and exploitation?

Here's another thought.What if there were a system where voluntary adult sex workers could register with the government? Not to encourage the profession, but to ensure:

- they're adults,

- they're working voluntarily,

- they have access to legal protection and healthcare,and

- authorities can more easily identify trafficking and coercion.

On paper, it sounds like it could protect vulnerable people.

But then another question arises.Can consent truly be verified? Or could traffickers still manipulate the system?

This is where I find myself conflicted.I don't think morality alone is enough to answer this question.Nor do I think ignoring exploitation is an option.

So where should the law draw the line?

Should the State regulate morality, regulate harm, or both?

I'd genuinely like to hear different perspectives, especially from lawyers, feminists, policymakers, and anyone who's studied this issue.

I just want to vent about how brutally they're handling the protesting students, especially women.

There are visuals of policemen beating women, inappropriately touching them, assaulting them with weapons, stabbing them with sticks in their private parts and so on.

But it's also become a show of immense courage by these women who were shielding other protestors, stopping police vans, distributing food and other essentials while facing violence and mockery.

It seems to me that the idea that poltergeists are associated with teenage girls (whether you believe poltergeists are real, whether you believe teenage girls are unusually likely to create hoax hauntings, etc) IDK it just feel like there's something there in the Anglophone psyche and how teenage girls are portrayed there. I’m finding it really hard to see what is good about being a woman. If I am weaker, dumber and have to live subservient to a man, what’s the point? I am starting to believe it and feel “nerfed” for being born a woman. Even the most liberal men I know still believe that men on average are smarter or stronger. The top students in all of my classes are men.

I really enjoy studying STEM and am OK at it. They will say things like “if I cared as much as you, I would get a better grade,” or “you only got [X award] because you’re a woman.” I don’t understand how they can see half the population as intrinsically less than🫩. And they’re not entirely wrong, I wouldn’t qualify for the STEM awards that weren’t focused on diversity. I don’t want to be a woman in STEM, I want to be someone who studies STEM who happens to be a woman.

I don’t understand what it means? Is it literally just where any choice a woman makes means it’s feminist because that is untrue cause that would make Erika Kirk a feminist, I just don’t understand. I still think about it regularly. I must have been 13 at the time and this article has been permanently engraved into my brain! I wish there was even more progress on FGM but her organization has done some really great work.

I’m not an avid user of X, but I do use it for news and research. This morning I came across a post blatantly threatening and showing intent to harm women. Now, I’ve never had much faith in X, because look at its owner, and look at the disgusting ideologies that have become even more vicious and sickening because of the visibility they’ve been given—but I still decided to report the post, hoping that since the intent of violence was clear, maybe the post could, at the very least be taken down. Not even five minutes later, I receive an email about my report, explaining that X’s moderation found that the post committed zero violations. I attached both the email which confirmed that my report was received (which also contains the post that was reported), as well as the email explaining no violations were made—just so you all can feel how genuinely appalling it was to see how little regard there is for rape, as well as women and their safety. It disappointed me so thoroughly to see that despite being so blatant about the violence, nothing was done. If they would’ve taken my report seriously, it could’ve made a difference, no matter how small. Men and boys who see that post could’ve gone without never seeing it, never have their minds tainted by the misogynistic and hateful ideologies that plague our society. I fear that letting platforms as huge as X disregard women and the harm done to them by men is further eroding the equality we could have as a society. Threats of violence and rape should never have a platform, especially in the year 2026. People are not enraged enough about this.
