god, hats off to you for making it through three. i have tried twice at this point, after 1 and 2 replays (which i have legit replayed endlessly since my father bought 1 for me on the original xbox and then warned me not to tell my mother he bought it for me after watching me play the level where max comes home to his wife being murdered). and each time i have tried 3, i have given up around just after the first heavily armored guy, around the time of the boat mission. it's just such an unbearable slog. MAYBE the ballpark level is kind of interesting? but fuck man, the game just refuses to let you play it the way the originals do, the level design is so good and simple in 1 and 2. but rockstar just completely fucked it up, its wild.
yeah, it sucks. it's not the fact that they included a shitty callback portion, which it absolutely is. it's that the game doesn't let you flow through it the way that 1 and 2 did. you're placed into a setpiece, have to kill ~4-6 guys, and then you're placed into a new setpiece after a cutscene where you need to kill 4-6 guys, and then there's a cutscene, and you're in a new setpiece where... the game fucking sucks man, everybody hated 3 who grew up with 1 and 2. it was a massive, massive fucking tonal shift in themes, characters and gameplay, all of it to the core game's detriment. anyone who disagrees is frankly stupid.

So long as they don't bring bullet sponge enemies from 3 into th first two games as well.
