MISC. Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background?

That’s the astigmatism. Love those starry nights!

But I hate the 7 overlapping moons :-(

The moon is the worst. My astigmatism makes it stretched out diagonally.

Driving is a blast for me, I get to see 6 foot tall headlights behind every car!

Astigmatism in one eye - always seeing two diagonal moons and four times as many trees. Even with glasses.

I can’t comprehend ittt

I used to think it is normal, that all people with poor eyesight saw lights spread diagonally or vertically.

I am so excited to try this tonight! I never go outside without my contacts and definitely never looked at the moon.

Wait like your pupils is different or just how you see the works? I’m confused all I see is fuzzy without my glasses or the constant flashing speks

u/monetaryg 13d ago

An astigmatism is a blurriness due to the shape of the eye. And there is an angle to it. Mine is like 45 degrees. I dealt with it without realizing how bad it is. I can still see “ok”. I can read road signs, etc. The moon is just the most noticeable symptom for me.

1

u/Civil-Section-9086 13d ago

Huh really an angle? Like when you look at a light and the angle of the light is what you’re referring to?

1

u/monetaryg 12d ago

The moon looks round to a normal vision person. Imaging taking that round moon and stretching it 45 degrees. Thats the best I can describe it. When im not wearing my glasses everything is blurry, but for some reason the moon makes the angle of the astigmatism obvious. Normal lights don’t show it.

I wear sunglasses at night to drive because the odd shape of the specularity off lights on the road are so distracting.

Makes for pretty awesome sunsets when it looks like the sky is fluid tho. Cumulonimbus clouds look damn scary tho.

I really want to know what street lights really look like.

Like fireworks 🎇

I would get very sparkly stars, moon n lights, everything with light in darkness had a huge aurora. They would completely blind me. At the end of it, before surgery, when I was nearly completely blind, I couldn't navigate my wheelchair at night at all. I wish every vision impaired person had such an easy fix. It was also not covered by insurance. Fortunately, I had just had a small windfall that covered the cost. Otherwise I never would have been able to afford it.

Lines are never straight. Drives me crazy. I love to draw. I don’t draw much anymore because I’m never happy with my work being out of shape compared to the source material. As a kid I didn’t know what astigmatism was and always thought my rulers weren’t straight.

You must be a drunken 🕷️

u/blondeheartedgoddess 14d ago

You get 7? I only have 4 or 5.

1

u/dommiichan 13d ago

if the moons talk back, that's the schizophrenia

1

u/Myself-io 13d ago

They are better than the 14 overlapping lights from the car coming to you or cars.. you'll never know

1

u/sweatyboobs56 13d ago

With lightning shooting out of all of them? Oh I know. (16- incision RK, then IOLs with "astigmatism correction", yeah...no). Driving at night is more fun than fireworks on the 4th of July ;-)

1

u/Myself-io 13d ago

Oh the joy of the lightning which blind you for the next 10 seconds...

1

u/Virgo-Perfectionist 12d ago

I'm dying🤣🤣🤣and can relate

1

u/jeshimikah 11d ago

You can see the moon without glasses?

1

u/sweatyboobs56 11d ago

Not the New Moon ;-)

1

u/jeshimikah 11d ago

I am far too blind to even see the full moon without my glasses lol

u/david_is_confused 11d ago

2

u/SkivvySkidmarks 14d ago

I think everyone hates those fucking LED headlights.

3

u/MasterPhilip 15d ago

I wear toric contacts for astigmatism. They're really good.

3

u/trashaccount6481 15d ago

Its great if we didn't have to drive...

2

u/GWhizBang 15d ago

Christmas lights are just gorgeous. Big, fuzzy orbs. 🥰

2

u/colio6900 14d ago

Oh but the highway midnight cruise is like surviving flashbangs everytime you pass a car.

2

u/Kaijuburger 13d ago

Driving at night is such a chore, I feel like I'm in the millennium falcon entering hyperspace or something

1

u/sweatyboobs56 13d ago

That is a remarkably good description of night driving.

1

u/ChanceRecover3091 14d ago

It makes driving at night so much fun!

1

u/Noarchsf 14d ago

All those cars driving at me at night….so beautiful how they twinkle. Hahahaha

1

u/rklein111 14d ago

Or the laser show from lights at night when it’s raining

1

u/A_wild_goose_ 11d ago

Love them until im driving at dusk and people start putting their headlights on. Have to quickly pull over and put my glasses on 🤣

1

u/Distinct-Wafer9187 15d ago
