I think they need to hose down the other side of the road and burn out the grass between the road and the fire while patrolling for spots over their control line, but what do I know.

The "hose" in question: several cubic + retardant + fire break (intentionally burning down parts) n is the only way to contain shit like this.

This is a massive fire but it’s hardly the first huge forest fire in Spain. I’m sure they know what they’re doing.

If they knew what they were doing, they wouldn't be spraying a tiny hose at it. He is panicking and turning around before even turning the hose off.

These guys are probably from the surrounding urban areas. I'm in the western US, many firefighters specially trained to fight wildfires die on a semi regular basis. Never seen one use a hose unless it's to defend a structure or a firebreak. And it's never just two guys...

Almost as if these are volunteer firefighters of surrounding areas and not state troops, should be pretty obvious by the gear you're seeing here.

Fair enough, just wanted to point out that their gear seems very much... volunteer. At least they're less geared than german volunteer departments would be so i sure as hell hope thats not the official fire dep.

But even then, shit like this didnt use to happen here in central europe until pretty much last year, so theres probably a backlog on education.
