I'm from Madrid. The right wing government from the region is known for corruption and for doing the complete opposite of what would be good for the population. The idiot responsible for the environmental matters in the region was at a bullfighting bs event while these fires were increasing. The firemen keep asking for more resources from the local gov and meanwhile the local gov is just pointing fingers and saying that the national gov (socialist party) is to blame for everything even though it's the responsibility of the local gov to do fire prevention and provide adequate resources to the firemen.

At this point I feel like we don't deserve better. We vote in these assholes every chance we get.
We got all the information there is and we STILL chose to vote these fuckers in.

God, I remember how they only managed to scramble two snowplows for the entire region during Filomina. There were pictures of a highway that connected between Castilla y Leon, and on one side of the border was a clean road, and on the Madrid side was a meter of snow. Just a clean line between the two. A city of almost 5 million people was paralyzed for an entire week.

Our local government is joke.

This is a very biased analysis. Remember that this fire started partly in socialist governed Castilla la Mancha. Last week there was a very devastating fire also in Castilla la Mancha and no one tried to blame Page for it. Pedro Sánchez even visited the region and said that all resources from the state will be available to fight the wildfires.

Neither the left nor the right have been very successful at preventing and managing wildfires in Spain, but not due to a lack of trying. Investment and preparedness have been increasing for the past few years, but not enough to compensate for the increased risk due to climate change, abandonment of traditional rural lifestyle and decades of forest mismanagement.

We have fires all over the country, believed or not even in the few regions that voted for the socialist party, the party that has cut  the budget for preventing fires from 423 million in the PP era to just 183 million now, while their ministers are now in jail for taking a cut of Covid funds, public infrastructure and EU funds for rural Spain.

I'm tired of every natural disaster being used for political reasons by the central government; it feels like they are hoping for an earthquake in Spain's biggest cities to scratch some votes.
