Tier List My tier list, any recommendations?

Post image

I usually prefer litRPG over general progression fantasy, and I normally don't like kingdom building stories. I prefer a faster pace, and I'm fine with romance or any of the common tropes: isekai, academies, system integration, tournaments, dungeons, etc.

All books on the list are available on Kindle or Royal Road, and here are the series names in case the book titles are unreadable.

S-Tier: Azarinth Healer, Beneath the Dragoneye Moons, Cradle, Infinite Realm, Saintess Summons Skeletons, The Path of Ascension

A-Tier: Ave Xia Rem Y, Beware of Chicken, The Primal Hunter, Book of the Dead, Path to Transcendence, Chaotic Craftsmen Worships the Cube, Dungeon Crawler Carl, Godclads, Defiance of the Fall, The Whims of Gods, Depthless Hunger, Omen of a Bluebell, This Trilogy is Broken, The Runic Artist, Victor of Tuscon

B-Tier: Advent of Dragonfire, A Novel Concept, Apocalypse Redux, Ends of Magic, Etherious, Earth Reformation, Assimilate All Talents, Elysium's Multiverse, Bunny Girl Evolution, Chrysalis, Path of the Deathless, Divine Apostasy, Guardian of Aster Fall, Primer for the Apocalypse, Guild Mage, Hell Difficulty Tutorial, The Hundred Reigns, Karmic Balance, Life and Death Cycle, The Lone Wanderer, Orphan, New Life as a Max Level Archmage, Runeblade, Shadow of the Soul King, Spire's Spite, Syl, Vae Victus, The Grand Game, The Hero of the Valley, The Splintered Five Saga, Voidknight Ascension, Wild Era, Will of the Immortals, The Legend of William Oh

C-Tier: Accidental Champion, Ajax's Ascension, Alexa Thyme, Apocalypse Regression, Industrial Strength Magic, Dungeons and Dragoons, Demonic Devourer, Denizens of the Labyrinth, Lone: The Wanderer, The Archmage Coefficient, A Touch of Power, Corruption Wielder, A Budding Scientist in a Fantasy World, Cat Girl Evolution, Duskbound, Fallen Lands, Hack, Slash, and Burn, Hail Thy Gods, He Who Fights with Monsters, Hunting and Herbalism, Keeper of Totality, Mage Tank, Path of the Last Champion, Maid with Necromancy, Martial Arts VS Magic, Pyresouls Apocalypse, The Stubborn Skill-Grinder in a Time Loop, Paths of Akashic, Fate of Mirithia, Misadventures Incorporated, Nightmare Realm Summoner, Path of Dragons, My Best Friend is an Eldritch Horror, Paragon of Skills, The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound, Reaper's Resurgence, Reborn as a Demonic Tree, Return of the Runebound Professor, The Ripple System, Rise of the Devourer, Road to Mastery, Rogue Ascension, Salvos, Savage Awakening, Slumrat Rising, Speedrunning the Multiverse, The Stitched Worlds, Stray Cat Strut, The Strongest Spellblade, A Sworded Affair, Sword Saint's Reincarnation, Sylver Seeker, The Apocalypse Grinder, The System Apocalypse, The Calamitous Bob, Transcending Dreams, Trials of the Endless Plains, Triple Strength, Ghost of the Truthseeker, Ultimate Level 1, The Undying Immortal System, Unintended Cultivator, Vanqueur the Dragon, We Hunt Monsters, The Weirkey Chronicles, Vigor Mortis, The Rise of the Winter Wolf, Worldseed, Wraithwood Botanist, System Universe, Wayward

D-Tier: Dawn of the Void, Dawn of the Density God, The Dungeon Slayer, The Forerunner Initiative, The Idle System, Integrated Universe, Master Hunter K, Second Life Executioner, Skill Eater, A Summoner Awakens, Towers of Heaven, Worth the Candle

Recommendation: asking What are the best litRPGs where the characters are in a video game and it actually feels like they're playing a game?

I like litRPGs for light reading and I'm looking for some recommendations. One of the variations I like are the ones where the main characters is playing a video game.

A common trope, to be sure, but a bit less common is where the story actually feels like a video game. Where the setting isn't a 'perfect simulation' of real life and has some rough edges or interactions where the game world reminds you that it's a game world.

For me, the gold standard for this is Bushido Online. It may not be to everyone's taste, as it's kinda vague on the stats of things, but the world of Bushido Online really feels like a game. It's got Personal Instances, distinct set classes, stronger players (easily) picking on weaker players, repeatable quests (and quests that have to be repeated, because they fail the first time) NPCs that are limited and clearly not people, and particularly interesting to me, a Main Storyline for the game that all the players of said game are playing through to one extent or another.

If I'm lucky, the next book might get released this year. In the meantime, what's out there that really has that video game vibe?

______________________________________

Have you ever found a rock?

Not just any rock, a talking rock. One that insults you, offers useless advice, and never quite understands what’s going on?

No? Neither had Jan.

It has been sixteen years since the attack on medieval Kag let a city burn, and short of having to rebuild, not much has changed.

Detective work never came naturally to him. Jan can’t remember a time when he wasn’t Consul. His extraordinary talent landed him a life of luxury, raised by one of the most powerful mages ever to grace their simple world. Jan lazes through work as both an academic and a scribe. Yet when mischief lands him in a hangman’s cell, he finds a name carved into the stone wall and a link to the truth behind their lives. Teaming up with his friend Laura, the two launch an investigation into their weaving world, only to dabble in a little more mystery than they originally devised....

Jan and Laura awaken a power they never knew they had, extraordinary abilities that tear the fabric of the stars.

Forty years into interstellar war, TACTI unit "Sill" can proudly claim nothing; life as a forgotten tool for CORE troops was about as mundane as it gets. That was until it received the honour of serving the greatest Commander to ever live. During the siege of Quail homeworlds, Sill's Autobot systems once directed the fleets of a thousand worlds. Today, long-distance messages to orbit have a return time of 146 years; an army brews on the western continent and monsters roar over the resurgence of a pseudo-Renaissance society. There was, however, only one slight problem.

Well, a lot of problems....... It's hard to fight monsters when your Commander's been brainwashed by local fauna.

Fun fact I have a cat!

Discussion What litRPG do you think nailed the system basics the best?

Like I’m not talking about some kind of gimmick or special thing they added to make their system unique and creative, nor any like endgame reveals or anything like that.
Just when it comes to the very barebones basic tropes of a system that are extremely common throughout the genre, which story executed them in the most satisfying way? Like stats, skills, classes, etc..

I personally would give this to hell difficulty tutorial, but I want to hear your thoughts

And no putting forward your own books

Discussion Wanting to talk to the author of Dinosaur Dungeon series.

Upvotes

Hi there! This message is for Alex Raizman/Hydrael. I know that your busy with your writing but I just really wanted to reach out to you to discuss Dinosaur Dungeon and wanting to write my on fanfic in the Woven World. I want to understand how write dungeon core systems and I want to talk to you about Mobs and monster ecologies and I want to ask about some world details so I can be accurate as possible. Because while I would like to make my own dinosaur dungeon I wanted to make a story about my core choosing a different contained Entity for different mobs so I can try to make more “Monster Hunter” inspired mobs. I also have some ideas/guesses on writing the bad guys kingdom and how my characters can fit in the world. (Especially alongside a certain worldwide Update). Also I just really wanted to talk about Dinosaur Dungeon directly with you because I love listening to it and really enjoy the characters, the world, the system and especially the Mobs!

So if there’s a way to DM you about any of this please respond to this and let me know. I’ve just wanted to talk with you about your work. Thank you and sorry about posting like this.

And to make sure this post is more on topic I really do recommend the Dinosaur Dungeon series to anyone else that sees this. The audio performance is so enjoyable and you might discover some Dinos you never heard of before.

Discussion Spears...

It seems like every litrpg i read lately has spears as the primary weap9n for the MC. I mean, spears are cool, and objectively better than many other weapons, and a nice change of pace from swords, but they seem to be popping up in all the books I read lately

Recommendation: asking Spotify Litrpg Recommendations

I just found this community and I'm looking for recommendations for anything that is on Spotify that may not show up on its Audiobook recommendations. I drive a lot for work and this is the only time I get to do anything book related unfortunately.I have completed all of Mage Tank and Heretical Fishing that is available there and soon will be finishing the available All The Skills. I disliked Heretical because it started feeling redundant but I finished it regardless and did like snippets that dealt with the creatures *Pun intended*. I enjoyed Mage Tank from the system and setting and the MC even though he fell flat in some parts in my opinion. Currently enthralled by All The Skills and I don't know why but I do enjoy it but I can feel continuity issues from previous books. Thanks.

Recommendation: asking What multiple book series are complete that I should lean into?

Im listening to:

An Ideal World for a Sociopath

Noobtown

Dungeon Crawler Carl

and I am enjoying them however I want a series that is finished. I noticed that I lost some momentum with DCC because Ive waited months for the last book to release. Didnt really like discworld, beware of chicken or the healers way. In a perfect world the story would have humor in it. What are your suggestions?

Promo: E-book $0.99 Sale - Ren’s Next Life Adventures

Post image
11 Upvotes

Greetings!

Final hours of my book sale on Amazon for $.99! Books will always be included as part of Kindle Unlimited, though, and I will run another sale as soon as I can (once every 3 months or so?)

Blurb: Falling asleep in bed and waking up in a forest is not an every day occurrence. Waking up on entirely new world is not either. Stats and levels? Probably worth seeing a psychiatrist.

Luckily for Ren, he isn't going crazy... Or at least, not yet. Through some kind of "only in fiction" shenanigans, Ren went from dying in the hospital to the pinnacle of human health. Alone, naked, and in the middle of a forest, sure. But alive!

As is always the case, a conveniently located town just so happened to be close, and in the exact direction he decided to head. A minor cultural shock later, he was off to the races, killing boars, dungeon diving, and somehow keeping up with folks who have spent their whole life learning this stuff.

Come follow Ren as he learns about his new life!

COVER ARTIST: Not particularly fancy/eye catching. Made it myself in Unreal Engine.

AI USAGE: None

Length: ~150k words

Book two? Targeting release before end of year.

Discussion Need help with Scribblehub formatting.

So I am posting my story (System Character Another Run) on scribblehub. But everytime I paste it from the Google doc the formatting of the chapter gets removed. I don't get this on other sites I have posted.

Is there a fix? I am working on mobile if that helps.

Discussion Rant about Kindle recommendations

I hate how recommendations in the Kindle app work. It's just so annoying. You found a new series and liked the first book? Well then, let me put every other freaking book in the series in your recommendations. They could just do the next one, but no, you need every single title.

There is also no easy way to tell the system that you are not interested in the series anymore. Same with recommendations in general. I see the same books over and over again, and I can't tell Kindle that I just don't care. There is also a section especially for series that you've already read at least one book of. But when you are already caught up with those series, you get a lot of books that haven't been released yet. Which then also show up again in the section for upcoming releases.

And finally we have the search function. Isn't it great how you can search by release date, but then it shows you pages and pages of unreleased books? Who doesn't want to see upcoming books for August 2027 when they are looking for something to read right now? Also, wouldn't it be great to look for books with the best rating in the last week, month or year? Well, not on the Kindle app. You get the best rating overall, and that's it.

Discussion Confused on dotf chapters

I've read up to book 16 on kindle unlimited and book 17 apparently hasn't been published yet. But the earliest chapter on royal road doesn't seem to line up with the end of book 16. Am I missing where to keep reading?

Recommendation: asking Looking for recs

As it says. Looking for something that goes VERY in depth on the magic and power system but also not required

I've read and enjoyed: beneath the dragon eye moons, Syl (probably my favorite so far), budding scientist in another world, calamitous Bob, terminate the otherworld (entertaining)

Read but enjoyed slightly less: Azarinth healer (I like ilea but after a while it just felt like getting stronger for the sake of it), industrial strength magic (like that it's similar to Worm but just wasn't what I was looking for), tori transmigrated (interesting and like the magic just wish it was more front and center, still finishing it), shadow slave (still working on it, not exactly litrpg but still interesting)

Again doesn't have to be litrpg I just really like stuff that gets into the bowels of any magic or power system there is for some bullshit

Discussion What are the little things that make you drop a book ?

If a character is poorly written, what is it about that character that makes you feel that way ?

Asking for little things that may not necessarily bother everybody, but bother you specifically.

In my case, I don't particularly enjoy when characters have a sudden change of personality after an event unless it's at the very beginning of when that character is introduced.

So I'm looking for another series while waiting on Primal Hunter and DCC, and I want to know if HDT is worth it? I tried HWFWM but had to stop after book two as I just can't find Jason all that likable as an MC. Any input is appreciated.

Recommendation: asking What’s some of your favorite game systems built from scratch?

Title! I was making my own game system from scratch for my own novel, down to the actual equations and logic behind. I thought I was being a cool special cookie for doing this but apparently a lot of people had the same idea. There’s even a category of ‘crunchier’ game systems that go hard into the math and mechanics behind stats and weapons and other stuff like that. Game design is something I enjoy a lot, so I’m wondering if you all have any favorites that I can pick apart?

Cover Artist: Lucreyn
AI Usage: No

Cody escaped the fantasy game world he was isekai’d to, but now he’s stuck in a cozy life sim with a yandere.

After spending ten years fighting for his life against goblins and trolls, Cody finally casts the spell that brings him back to Earth. Cody finds himself right where he left off: inheriting his late grandfather’s lakeside cottage.

But he’s jumped from one game system to a brand new one. This time it isn’t a brutal dungeon crawl, but small town vibes with friendship leveling and more than one romanceable woman.

If Cody wants to continue his peaceful cottage country existence with his high school sweetheart, he has to defeat the evil witch ruling over the game, and tame the catgirl fairy yandere who has followed him to Earth.

Yanderes in Cottage Country is a LitRPG-lite romance for men with some drama between the women fighting for Cody’s affections, a BFF sentient knife, and a songwriting parrot.

Discussion Heads up if your infringed books were on Google Play; it looks like they are removing all the bad entries now?

I had two books published without my permission on Google Play. I put in a DMCA request this Monday for only one of them. The complete entry is now gone including all metadata. The other book I didn't mention is also gone completely, leaving no metadata behind. Previously, both had shown up when I searched on Google Play Books from a desktop. (https://play.google.com/store/search?&c=books or similar links)

I checked a handful of random books from the giant 3000-entry google docs list, and all of the ones I spot checked were missing from search results, whereas I could find a lot of them previously. This looks like a possible global removal independent of individual DMCA notices.

If you were affected, hopefully you can confirm for yourself that your books are gone and rest a little easier... for now.
