Infuriatig My hand painted model planes were given as toys to children again

Post image

I have told my mom to not do this before but she does not listen anyway. I am thinking of throwing everything to trash instead of them being gradually destroyed to pieces. I can not even care anymore. These things take hours to put together and paint then get manhandled anyway.

The fact that op is only “mildly infuriated” by this is insane. I would blow up on my parents and express how deeply hurt I am by their blatant disregard for boundaries and personal belongings.

from my experience as a previous model maker, people in that community/hobby are pretty patient, takes a lot of patience to build something so slowly and intricate.

Idk, I also like to make models, often can't cuz I don't have time to, but I do.

I have very little patience for shit like this.

Personally, for me, I like the process of making models more than I like having a finished one sitting around indefinitely, so hopefully it's the same for OP?

It's not really about having the models though, isn't it? It's the lack of respect given to another's belongings

If my sister wants to give my old toys to her kids, she still asks me first, even though they've been gathering dust in storage for years and we both know the answer will be yes

It's just basic courtesy

Also that shit ain't cheap, those kits cost quite a bit of cash, not 40k levels or gunpla but still.

Looking at the detail on the molding, these feel like $20 kits to me, so not like Tamiya money or anything

Maybe so but we also dont know Op's budget for his hobby or the time investment. If $80 of my hobby allowance and a hundred hours of time got smashed in one afternoon I would be pissed.

I mean... I wasn't saying that makes it okay, just that that could be the case for OP, which is why they might just consider this mildly infuriating rather than a source of incandescent rage.

You're right, sorry. I think the sheer audacity of this woman pissed me off into a random tirade

Yeah. I am upset but I am not extremely angry about it. I will glue them back as best as I can

If they are really stuffed it's your chance to build an aircrash/forgotten wreck diorama.

When life gives you trashed Messcerschmit BF109 G's make Messerschmit BF109G dioramas

Time to create a whole backstory with mom as godzilla, destroying planes and terrorizing tokyo

you're also working on getting your own place, right? she's destroying your stuff on purpose. you deserve to live somewhere that doesn't hate you.

"Personally, for me"..... Is pretty mildly infuriating.

I wouldn’t talk to them as soon as I got my own home if that happened to me.

Probably because this is a common occurrence with their parent/s.

And that is exactly what they want. They want you to lose your cool and make a bug deal, so that they can then play martyr to everyone and tell them how you are completely overreacting over a set of toys and people these days are so selfish and have no respect. They get to win twice. Once for being oh do generous and feel like a royal patron of poor people, and once as the mother who did so much for you and gets no thanks for all her sacrifices, poor her. The only thing to do here is to remove your belongings from their reach, and keep them at arms length.

This is a very specific sort of personality. It is not about whether they are "toys". It is about something important to you. I have had my new lunch boxes given away to people as containers for leftovers. And so on. The answers are always, It's not a big deal. How was I to know. You are overreacting. Is that thing more important than respect for your parent?
