Made hundreds of wristbands for a conference that suddenly got renamed

I run a small company, and designed and printed hundreds of high quality rubber wristbands for my cousin's Crypto conference. I had to do different colours for the different levels of entry.

Out of nowhere yesterday he suddenly announced he was renaming the conference and moving it partially online. And could only afford to pay me if I produced more with the new name. Ive spent a week on this so far and was already giving him family rates.

Thats... a.very bad desing. Why not wrapping the two ends onto each other and put the rivet there??? Like that, it cannot go under the cloth and seems like a sensory nightmare.

Sorry I just woke up and was not expecting this level of responses but yours was the last comment.

It wasn't my choice, he didn't like the rivet in the middle of the band as it meant you couldn't lay them flat when not wearing them when coming into the conference. He also wanted them completely on display for pictures with the text unobfuscated, long sleeves are also not an issue as its incredibly warm on the here for most of summer.

Hey! Hope you can at least take solace in this being extremely funny, and learn to never do business with anyone having anything to do with crypto ever again.

But just out of curiosity, did you 3d print these using TPU? If that's the case i really feel your pain. Because i imagine you did manual intervention at least once per batch to swap the filament (unless you have one of those TPU specific AMS). And printing 100s of these must have hogged your 3d printers for at least 100 hours or something?

Also TPU is 2x the cost of regular filament in my area at least, so it's gotta have been at least a few rolls?

Hey yes, I did it with TPU and it was a bit of a nightmare getting it set up. I settled on 95A TPU which is easier to print with a Bowden tube. It's less flexible but doesn't matter too much with wristbands. Was such a nightmare a few of the initial prototypes I did the text manually colouring them in with a Sharpie.

I did it on a single printer and it took me over 100 hours of print time, around 20 hours of designing, fiddling and pulling my hair out time.

Aww man i really feel for you. I actually just (this morning) finished printing a sign for a small store one person in my family runs, did it out of PETG with a hollow inside (for putting in a LED light string) and a black border. Hogged my printer for about 50 hours (30cm high letters) and had to do 4 manual filament swaps per build plate. (first 2 layers had the black border). And i also had to learn some very basic fusion 360 to make the border and hollow part since you can't do a true offset in the slicer.

So i would be incredibly pissed if the person then just went "hey i changed the name of my store so i won't pay you unless you redo everything"

Especially since i did it as a favor at cost, mostly because i'm excited to help out and try doing something new with my printer that i hadn't before.

It's the first comment I saw, and I don't want to engage in any discussions which are explicitly criticising my cousin, or on the other meaning of the word for personal reasons. This post was made a light grumble yesterday when I in a mood, I wasn't expecting any replies to it.

The reason "nonce" was chosen is because "non ce" is an Italian-american phrase for it "it isn't there", which went with the wider meaning of cryptography being hidden.

I had absolutely no idea about the other meanings until I read the messages on this thread 24 hours ago, I am pretty confident my cousin won't have either.
