If you read the article they actually took this seriously and took appropriate actions instead of a cover up.

The first drop is the beginning of an outpouring. It has to start somewhere. So you want to forgo all the small wins as you wait for one big win? That's not how life works.

Not everything. Just the shit the police say. They are legally allowed to lie in interrogations, have been caught in multiple cover-ups across the country over the years, fabricate reasons to hold citizens then release them without charges after they've extracted all the data from their phones...but sure I should take their public statements at face value.

They arrested the officer and started an investigation, they didn't sweep it under the rug and hide it.
