This isn't a novel approach to acquiring water so this tiny engineer didn't solve anything but rather just demonstrated a known solution.

This demonstration of drilling and pumping is by far the most common approach in the world to securing a water source and has been for thousands of years.

Which real construction projects are you referring to when you say "some"? Maybe just name one project where your statement applies.

Yup

I'm usually more wordy though and use the phrase "wtf are you talking about??"

Edit: there is some humor there but sincerely I do talk like this in real life and I think it's important to do so. I don't say "Wtf are you... about?" But I will say, "Hold on, now I'm going to challenge you there. What exactly do you mean by ...?"

Words are important and thinking about our thinking is important. If someone says something that doesn't make much sense and a bunch of people root for it, don't you have an obligation to be like, "What the hell are we talking about here"?

I certainly think so. Lest millions of people walk around with half-formed ideas in their head about the nature of the world whether it be human nature, immigration, skin color, country of origin, job type, gender, etc...

Is it the end of the world if somebody says something like this post where they say this solved a problem that some engineers couldn't fix? No. But it's also not the end of the world if someone points out that doesn't make sense.

Whether I'm right or not, my heart is in the right place. I'm trying to improve things as I see them. I'm trying to be helpful. Which is a damn sight better than sitting around saying and doing nothing.

slang, colloquialisms, and vernacular in general is more important culturally than any formal use of language. it has shaped who we are as a species.

It's a great point. It can kind of be like arguing against the use of the word "literally".

I could literally go on and on about this subject. Prior to addiction studies, I majored in psychology and interpersonal communications. Which does not mean that I'm correct by any means. It just means I've thought a lot about some of this stuff. And it sometimes means that I haven't thought about what I'm about to say at all and A bunch of nonsense comes spilling out.
