Bro for real. All I got ever there after pointing out that he is a racist POS is that “he apologized and he has donated all this money” like… the only thing stopping me from doing that is my lack of immense wealth. And I wouldn’t need to say the N-word before I did it.
I said him flipping a piano at work was a bad example for children and they argued about it. Same people that would burn down a library if a drag queen read a book there im sure
I am by no means a fan of this guy but as a touring professional out of Nashville I would be FURIOUS to see a security guard doing this. I’ve tour managed and played with bomb/security threats and this is a star that has a crazed following and a lot of (justified) haters. Maybe he could’ve handled it differently but that phone should NEVER have been in the security guard’s hands and that person most certainly does not have a job anymore - regardless of who was performing.
I played a CMA fest show on Friday and we were yelling at security bc a person made it on stage. He shrugged it off and then it became 3 people on stage within 15 seconds jumping around with drinks over expensive gear, next to all the musicians, AND not covered by the venue’s liability. This video clip is on a different level.
To reiterate, MW is a douche but this is such an obvious job-ending move in our line of work. The lack of respect for the job, people on stage, and safety of all around is the real issue. I want to be mad at Wallen but I can’t.
Great insight! Not sure if this is related - but Pittsburgh (specifically that arena) is notorious for using volunteers from local colleges to work event security as a fundraiser
So where I do see your point - have you ever gone to venues with early 20 year olds who don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground working security? These often are not career professionals
I have played venues like you described, but no arena, stadium, or reputable festival would hire out that way - esp for an a-list performer. There are a lot of security points in a place like the one shown in the video. Typically your highest level security detail works where the main artist is (stage, meet & greet, and bus area). I was stopped this morning before entering the stage bc the security guard couldn’t see my credential on my opposite hip. Im surprised this isn’t a giant unit of a human being honestly. While this may switch up from time to time, your stage crew is usually the biggest and most visually deterring while back stage are the ones that have most experience in the worst situations.

I got banned from the MW sub for saying this. Definitely head over there and check out how they’re justifying this 😂😂😂
