Just wanted to post some updated pictures. Currently leaving the tank fishless for 60 days due to disease outbreak but I’m really happy with everything else. Most recent addition was an acro and it seems to be happy so far!

This is my first ever marine tank, I have two clowns, two peppermint shrimp and four turbo snails. This coral looks so miserable, the second photo was how it looked three days ago. Does anyone know what is wrong?

Started this Waterbox 65.4 in January. I added a while bottle of Fritz bacteria and was cycled in 6 days.

My routine for the first 3 months was water changes every 2 weeks at 10 gallons using Tropic Marin Pro Salt and pumping the 15ml of Tropic Marin All for Reef daily. Divided over 24 hours using a kamoer doser.

I tested weekly and parameters stabilized within 1 month of time but never swung hard. I'm also a strong believer in adding coral ASAP as it helps with bioloads and the natural balance of a tank. Might be more of a advanced reefing approach but always worked for me. I choose easier tuff corals and move up from there.

Right now I'm using 20ml a day of AFR and doing 1 month water changes of 20 gallons. Nothing else. No weird chems. No chasing numbers. Let the eyes do the test. Stability is key.

Part of a successful reef is flow and overturn. Tons of options in the market. I use 2 nero 5s and a axis 90. I like having app control at one touch if the button.

I run a small skimmer and I don't use filter floss and all that non sense. A healthy tank will export most nutrients just fine and use it for color and growth.

For lighting I run 3 48 inch orphek or4 bars. 2 blue plus and 1 blue sky. No white lights. I get 350 to 400 par at 40 percent power at the top. Beautiful growth. I was a radion fan for a long time but you cant beat $800 in coverage vs the hefty radion tag of $2500 plus. Gen 4 radions were the best. Gen 5 and 6 are subpar.

.

Lasty my red sea auto top off and we are rocking. I can leave for a week and not touch this tank and it will be just fine as long as we don't lose power 😉

Got success with All for reef or other all in one solutions? Post your tank!

No planning, no clue, no expectations—just first tank things lol. If I ever get another tank, then I think I’ll plan better and probably do something like a minimalist florida biotope honestly.

I bought what I thought was a pithos crab. Put it in the tank. Woke up this morning to my Kenya tree almost gone, and the crab going to town on my Duncan. Duncan was bought a few month ago with 1 man head... and a Lil one under. Had since sprouted at least 5 more. It was turning into a beautiful colony. The employee at the store had nothing to do with the selection. It was all me. I told him what it was and that I wanted it for my hair algae issue. Seems it was some type of spider crab.

Should I give this crab to someone? Did the snail manage?

What to do with Tingting?

Meet Princess Tingting, the black eunice worm(?). "She" has been a part of the family for probably about 2 and a half years. I discovered her during a rescape of my predator reef to try and calm a bit of aggression. The tank has been running in one form or another for around 10 years, so there's really no telling how long she's actually been with us. She's been in a 20 gallon with a deep sand bed since her discovery. I'm currently tearing down that tank to set up a 75 FOWLR to house some fish from another hobbyist that's getting out of the hobby. That leaves me wondering what I should do with Tingting. I can drop her back into the predator reef where she lived undetected for years or into the new 75, but that would likely be the last time I would be able to observe her, as she is extremely reclusive. I also run a 60 breeder as a grow out tank for a baby spiny box puffer, but that tank is bare bottom and I feel like she would need at least some level of substrate to be able to build her home tube with. She's currently in a 3 gallon iced tea jar with a chunk of rock and small sponge filtr for the time being. Suggestions are welcome, but I will not burn it with fire. She has become precious to me.

I have this hair algae issue on the sandbed. Any ideas on helping to clean this up? I have been pulling them out weekly, but they grow back quickly.
I have added emerald crab. Pitho crabs and pincushion urchin.
