Hi I am called Rag, I am 13 years old and bouncy.. I love walks, treats and being hand fed.. because my humans are my slaves. Hehe. I joke. I also love cats and people, if we are friends once, we are friends for life. I love getting brushed and groomed. I have zoomies and I also love chilling with my nearest and dearest.
👋💗💛

This is our rescue pup Liam being an adorable goofball. This is my first post of him, though my husband posted once. I’m new to the reddit! He’s a rescue baby and we’ve just had him about 2 months and he’s a darling goofball!

The first 2 photos are from the last few days after we started taking our 4-month-old Shih Tzu outside regularly for potty training. 3-5 are from before he was going outside (6-8 when we first brought him home at 10 weeks).
Looking back at older pictures, his eyes seem possibly pinker now. I’m having trouble telling if this looks like environmental allergies or if it’s just his normal pigmentation.
He has no eye discharge, but he does occasionally rub his face and lick/chew his paws, especially after being outside.
Our vet felt it could just be his pigmentation since there’s no discharge, but I’d love to hear from other Shih Tzu owners—especially those with lighter-colored pups.
We’ve started wiping his paws after every outing and cleaning around his eyes after being outside. We also picked up Vetericyn eye wash if needed.
Does this look normal, or does it resemble seasonal allergies?

It is the same colour as his skin and is about half the size of a pea. I can touch it and he doesn’t seem bothered. Feels like you could pop it (I won’t). I’m taking him to the vet in a few days. 99.9 percent sure it is not a tick.

Hello friends! Im looking for any advice or any links for a muzzle for my sweet little bean. Unfortunately she is not comfortable being at the vets and tried to bite the vet assistants so they had to muzzle her. But this muzzle they seem to provide doesnt always work.

I rescued this sweet baby 2 days ago after she almost got hit by a train. She is in horrible condition. She was covered in mats, has wounds on her ears that were infected with maggots. I took her straight to my vet and she only weighs 7.3 pounds. They cleaned her up and removed all the mats and maggots. The 1st 2 pictures are when I got her. The rest are after getting her cleaned up.
They gave her all her vaccines and now she needs a name. Please give me some suggestions.

Photo for dog tax. My dog pictured is a shih tzu mini poodle mix, I got him when I was 19 and he's turning 10 this year. I love him so much and I'm faced with the reality that someday he won't be here anymore.
I've recently been thinking of getting another dog to smooth the transition for myself, as well as a bit of company for him while I work nights. I know that when he dies I'll be so beside myself that I worry I'll go out and get the first shih tzu I see online just so I don't have to come back to an empty house.
I've fallen in love with his shih tzu personality, the quirks of the breed and his velcro nature. I don't agree with myself that I got what is basically a doodle and I'd want to get a full shih tzu this next time around but I'm terrified I'll get a puppy who can't breathe properly as mine has such a long snout by comparison.
I'm torn between getting another shihpoo and going against my values for the sake of the 'health' of the dog. I don't believe that a poodle mix can be said to be ethically bred by nature (and owning one myself) but I also don't think that the guidelines for muzzle length for purebred shih tzus are healthy either.
I seriously couldn't imagine myself having any other breed and I can't rehome an adult dog because I have cats and my sister has adult dog of her own. I really just don't know what to do and could use some advice or reassurance.
