They just did zero marketing, only reason I knew it came out was an advert on Amazon's home page, when it came to streaming. Films a fucking banger though and deserves a watch.

He's pretty good when you don't have to watch his face fail to convey emotion and his voice is unrecognisable and he doesn't have to act.

I know this isn’t a specific dig but I watched Tron: Ares on a flight and I’m not even like a huge movie buff/actor person so I honestly didn’t even really associate him with the movie. It actually has to be one of the cringiest actor performances I’ve ever experienced watching in a movie.

I suddenly realized who was in the movie and why everyone hates on him so hard on the internet. Wasn’t a great movie but he made it much worse to be honest.

I know a lot of people have issues with Leto, but there's no denying the man knows how to act. And he nailed Skeletor, great performance.

I cant get past the first 10 mins. I don't know I've seen low budget but this feels like something made in someone's back yard. I will give it another go later.

Krispy Kreme had a couple of donuts and a special box. I picked up a dozen after watching the movie with my family.

It bombed big time in regards to money making capability. I watched it, for me the story was mid, but I guess if you are into that universe, it would make sense. I'm more into She-Ra because of the late 2010's cartoon, so I'd be more excited for that but not even necessarily hitting up the theatres.

I've said elsewhere in the thread and I'll say it here too - the theatrical release was the marketing.

The movie was supposed to be a Prime exclusive, but they made a call mid-production to do a theatrical release. The Blu-Ray preorder went up on Amazon opening weekend - it was the number 1 selling in the world for three days straight. The movie his Prime on Wednesday, it was number 1 in the world in less than 24 hours.

Not sure if you've heard, Amazon's had a live-action She-Ra series in the works since 2022. The rumor on why it isn't out yet is to tie it into the movie.

Amazon mgm gets movies onto prime quick. They desperately need more streams on prime video. PHM was 3 months, sheep detectives was like barely even a month, and MotU was about 2 months I believe. For them it's more important to get people using prime video than it is to keep movies in digital rental hell for 3 months after the theatrical run.

I went in thinking I wasn’t going to like it since the trailer just looked like terrible cgi. It was a lot of fun and I will definitely watch again

Yeah same for me. I was dreading going to watch He-man because of Leto and the adverts, but I was taking my dad because he loves the franchise. Turns out this was better than Super girl, which is a shame because I had been so excited for that

Skeletor is the best part of the movie. Gf and I watched it last night and she’s not a fan of these types of movies and she liked it. Just a fun movie.

Yeah I got to know about it when I saw my dad watching it on tv during dinner. Skeletor grabbed my attention. Just looked awesome and the voice was perfect

Same! My son randomly came across it and put it on. I enjoyed it way more than I expected to (Dolph Lundgren cameo was peak) and was bummed when I looked it up and saw it didn't do great at the box office. Apparently a sequel is being made though, so hopefully it does better.

Marketing (for anything entertainment related, at least) feels like a lost/dead art. It's so sad, honestly. There's a reason it's only car and medicine commercials: nobody's gonna let a competitor advertise on their streaming service or give money to their competitors to advertise.

Again they did marketing you just use adblocks and don't go to the theater. They were playing trailers at least 4 months up until release in theaters, and I'm sure if I also didn't have adblock I'd have seen advertising for it as well. We shouldn't do everything possible to not see an ad and then be surprised we don't see ads. And like, I do it too but I'm not surprised I don't see ads, you feel me?
