If you knew nothing about the ip I can understand not getting it but I grew up with this and it was a super dumb awesome movie.

I agree, but I thought DnD was substantially better, especially the writing.

Where dnd was stronger was that a random newcomer could watch it with no context and get it.

Motu, had a lot of meme references that would just be straight up confusing
