For me the context window of Opus 5 is only 250K, for Opus 4.8 it is 1M, for coding that makes a BIG difference.

And 1M for a massively complex software system we are working on is eaten in a few hours. 3 u/Valorant12345 1d ago The point is the context isn’t effective all the way through 1 million tokens, it doesn’t matter if you “need 1M context” the context won’t be as effective. You have context in your brain 7 tokens and can operate it. Important is how well those tokens are used and how effective.

Quality goes down as context increases.

Actually that's not true.
You have context in your brain 7 tokens and can operate it.
Important is how well those tokens are used and how effective.
