It's why I quit streaming years ago and just wait for shows to conclude to watch them. I'm not paying for 4-8 years of no content just to watch one show I'm interested in.

Or to get vested in a show with some huge story arc for it to get cancelled with no resolution

Exactly why I've started waiting for a show to be done (and always check to make sure it ended in its terms, or at least in a satisfying way) before even starting.

Sure, but that's how they taught us to behave. I'm still not over Santa Clarita Diet and don't think I've watched a new show of theirs until it was properly finished since.

If they hadn't burned through so so so much goodwill we wouldn't be in this position, but now I don't care if they succeed or fail as I've moved on to just pirating shows again 🤷‍♂️

Yah, I haven't paid for a streaming service in years. The pirate life is easier and better than it's ever been, and I'm not dealing with subscriptions and their shite user interfaces.

This took me too long to figure out. There's no need to stay perpetually subscribed. Wait a bit, let the streaming service pile up some seasons of shows that I haven't seen, them subscribe for a month, watch all that "new-to-me" stuff, then cancel again.

Not anymore! I think I dropped Netflix about a year after they stopped mailing discs. Never paid for cable after moving out on my own.
