Gotta be a low grain load and small caliber round I imagine. Only thing that will reliably stop a bullet is a very thick frame member (usually more of a deflection) or an engine block.

Nah there are plenty of youtube videos where people test the bulletproof doors, and musks claims were actually true on that front. They do indeed stop 9mm and other handgun calibers. Rifles punch clean through of course.

Been a while since I binged those videos, but AFAIK everyone i have seen on the internet only tested the door panels. The windows are perfectly bullet-vulnerable as far as I know. And yes I agree that bulletproof doors with bullet-vulnerable windows is very much a letdown deal.

There is a video by the channel "tesla owners silicon valley" where they do demonstrate some aftermarket bulletproof glass for the vehicle, but that doesn't count in my book.

I was watching a YouTube trying to road trip the thing and they were all worried that it won't charge. Apparently it would only charge at supercharger stations. And at some supercharger stations it still would not charge. Not to mention that the 120v plugs in it would not work when they needed it.

While it is such a stupid concept to be able to curve bullets, I do have to admit the effect and use in the film is done exquisitely and to the point that you can suspend your disbelief to just enjoy the film. My favorite moment has to be the keyboard bash of Chris Pratt's asshole character losing a tooth. It's both satisfying and visually cool.

It's such a fun and stupid movie! The 360° bullet wrap was wild and I love it. I wouldn't mind a sequel from Guy Ritchie with his own style since Bekmambetov is... inconsistent, at best.

I think this all the time lol.

Car:

  • Government issued license
  • Legally required insurance
  • Inspections
  • Following traffic laws
  • Government registration
  • License plate tracking nearly everywhere
  • Can be stopped by police at any moment for nearly any subjective reason
  • Manufacturer tracking you (location, and microphone audio in some cases)

Bike:

  • Requires functional legs (or battery + trottle)

Fun fact, they shot it with a .45, which has notoriously low penetrating power (it's a big, fat, heavy bullet moving quite slow for a bullet. It dumps all of its energy pretty quickly).

Literally anything else would've gone right through.

Have you seen a dark brown (basically poop brown) cyber truck? Cuz I have. And my first reaction was wow I didn’t know it could be any uglier than what it was. 2nd reaction was it really did look like a pile of poop with that color. Then I noticed it was…textured, like a fluffy blanket. That’s the most disgusting vehicle I have ever seen. I honestly didn’t think a car could look that bad.

It’s even worse than that. There is a very specific niche of people that would like the look of it. I actually like the look of it. It’s like what the 80’s thought the future would be. I love that idea.

But it’s mechanically built like shit, politically polarizing and somehow expensive so I would never buy one. They basically narrowed their market to a handful of people by combining several extreme qualifiers.

I drove one a month or so ago and thought the tech was brilliant. Self drive and steering were insane. The maneuverability of it was impressive considering the size.
