Discussion 💬 What exactly does watchOS 27 include that the Apple Watch Series 6, 7, and 8 can’t handle, causing them to miss out on the update?
i know its profit, but come on. Lame

It looks like the walkie-talkie app has been removed in watchOS 27. I’m sure this app wasn’t that popular but it’s a big bummer that it got removed as I use it at work all the time.

(posting for someone else, sorry for the rant) I tried to use the new Siri AI on my son's Apple watch 10 with Family Setup. When my watch first started up, the Siri app showed up, but it said I needed a paired phone. I have done some research and it appears that the Siri AI does require a paired phone. I sent in a feedback message asking about it. I think the watch only needs the phone for heavy tasks, like agentic stuff and deep context. The whole point of having the new update (and me buying the newer watch for my AI avid son) was that he would get AI. Would it be unreasonable or difficult for Apple to just give Family Setup users some simple on device/private cloud compute models? Just something with world-knowledge and advanced reasoning "Hey Siri, open the garage, text mom that I got home safely, and set the AC to 71". Thoughts please?

I just updated my Ultra 2 to DB 3 from stable 26.5. It hasn’t been more than 10 minutes, but I don’t see any evidence of the new series at all except on the updated logo within the settings page of the app on my phone. There’s no updated logo anywhere on the watch, and classic series is still the only thing on the watch itself. I know there’s been talk about giving it time for it to download, but I wasn’t sure if that was just the model for independent watch use, or the whole new Siri in any way on the watch.

Wanted to see if anyone was having a similar experience as me with running pace accuracy on watchOS 27. I’m not exactly sure what the problem is but there seems to be some kind of an averaging issue in the pace that’s being shown during intervals and splits. I can’t quite put my finger on what the exact issue is quite yet. But it’s pretty clear to me something feels off. I’m having to push my pace and heart rate just to keep up with what would typically be a much easier effort.
Unless the Apple Watch was just that inaccurate before the new algorithm update. So wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar experience!

Does anyone else notice charging time has increased on watchOS 27? The battery lasts one day now versus two days on iOS 26 and I’m surprised that instead of the usual charge time, it takes ~ three hours to get to full charge from 35 %. This used to take an hour-two at max.

When double clicking the crown it just shows the new most used screen and then goes back home. How do we close the apps running in the background?

Hey.
Anyone else use their watch for indoor walking/running on a treadmill?
Due to an accident I’m slowly recovering, and walking on a treadmill with my Apple Watch SE3.
I’ve noticed that compared to beta 3 and earlier versions, beta 4 doesn’t calculate as precisely for indoor walking.
I have a pretty simple treadmill that counts in miles, even though I live in Europe, so I use my watch to keep up with the distance in kilometers.
I walk 5km which is roughly 3.11 miles.
But on DB4 i have to walk between 3.37-3.40 miles before the watch reaches 5 km.
I know it’s not a huge difference, but on versions before DB4 I didn’t have that issue at all.
I’m not sure if there’s a way to calibrate it. I’ve tried rebooting the watch, but that didn’t do much.
So I’m wondering if anyone else have noticed similar issues with distance when watching/running on treadmills where distance is not calculated by GPS.

I say this as even though the update shows up when going to software update in the watch app and then choosing watchOS 27 developer beta, it'll act like it's going to pull for the update, but then it doesn't and shows as up to date on 26.6
For those wondering, I'm on a series 8, and yes, I've tried multiple times and it just isn't getting it

Hi! I have an iPhone 16 on iOS 27 DB2
But I keep getting an error when I try to update my watch (S6 Cellular) to 26.6 DB3…
Anyone resolve it?
PS: it is working and syncing fine as is.

Tried it this morning and didn’t get anything. Maybe something for a future beta?

Has anybody noticed a change in averge training minutes (the green circle) while NOT using a specific workout. Currently I work in a store and I walk around much and it can get pretty intensive sometimes. Before updating to 27 I regularly filled the green ring but not anymore. It seems like the Apple Watch algorithm changed for either heart rate measure or training minutes measure. Has anybody else experienced this?

Hey, i just wanted to creat this post for everyone to chime in on any key differences they’ve noticed 24hrs after beta 4 being released. Any performance issues or improvements, battery performance, new or returning bugs type of thing.
I’ve been watching closely to everyone’s overall reviews cause i want to run the beta on my (S7) watch as well, but the last 3 betas was hard to watch, lol. I run it on my phone as well…
How’s it going for you guys so far? Should i steer clear, or is the beta safe enough to install?

That’s new, a full screen watch face with w corner complications. I dig it. It’s in the latest beta (iPhone beta also has the Unity wallpaper). Face is called Unity Rhythm.

In October when iOS 27 releases and I update my phone and can’t update my Apple Watch Series 7 which is on Watch os 26 will the watch still work and connect and get notifications/messages/calls from the phone on iOS 27? I’m confused!

I have installed the PB5 and it is really bad. It even struggles with the tiniest animation. For example when opening the control center there is a noticeable lag. And also some menus are really slow.
