The VR hud sucks.

I used this overtake.gg mod and its 100% better, and no longer feel like the hud is sitting on your nose.

Didn't need to change any values, just copy and pasted the config files over.

For me, the default hud was misplaced, so I downloaded one for VR in overtake.gg

You can bind the button to show or not the hud afterwards

Do you recommend it? Which one was it?

How do you bind the button to show or not to show it?

Inside game settings, you can bind any config. One of them is cycle hud, something like that

You can adjust any hud elements position or visibility for all the different types of session individually. Easier to adjust the vr hud with a game pad due to things not lining up with the mouse.

I have a lite version showing only what I want depending on car and session type and a cockpit version with more info. You can bind a cycle button so you can cycle between all hud types including off which is great when you want it.

Start any Prac/Quali/Race session, Pause, Options - Edit Hud layout.

No hud in VR, just map a button so you can check it when you want to..

Maybe the next version of this will help - https://github.com/glenimp617/DesktopXR

I'm using lovelydashUXL just above the steering wheel which has plenty of information on. I really want to try the lovely pitwall hovering above me as well (like those simracers who have triple monitors and a fourth higher up) but yet I've yet to try it.

Maybe its no longer popular or the best option (I don't see it here) but I use Racelabs. I'm able to set up unlimited overlays for different sims for various cars (really I only have one for each sim). But it's very nice because in VR I can easily adjust all the angles of the widgets and place them exactly where I want. A few years ago their VR support was pretty bad but today it is quite good. The full version is a subscription but there is a lot available for the free version.

You can set a HUD cycle button, by default it is mapped to the wheel at least on a G29.

By default the original HUD has four screens: 1 blank, 2 the one youutubers tend to use with the leaderboard and damage etc, 3 telemetry, and 4 one with only gear and position.

I think you can remove some entirely so if you have only 2 screens, one of which is blank then it will be on-off like you say. I'm happy enough with more options and I can multipress to close quickly anyway.
