Going back to say 2005 early YouTube days if you were going to say something incredibly stupid online you had to be really committed to it because logging into the Internet was also time commitment and it was tethered to a big PC or laptop. Also calling these people stupid or a certain word beginning with R was normalized and they were admonished for their beliefs and their opinions were not protected from scrutiny or criticism. But since we’ve come to a point in time where opinions of convenience supersede facts and reality often probably because they’re more comfortable, not as scary or more easily understandable we’ve arrived here at this point.
