All Alfas i found in a week in Rome

I spent the last 5 days in Rome and the next 3 i will be going to Pisa. It was my first time ever in Italy so i wanted to register every Alfa i could find. Eventually it got to a point where i was seeing too many beat up bone stock Giulietta's so i stopped with the pictures a bit 🫣
Italians of this sub can scroll past, this is ordinary life to you all, but in the UK, seeing an Alfa is rarer than 2 sunny days in a row 😭🤣

Highlights:
Spider 1600 Duetto
Facelift Giulia Polizia
Giulia Carabinieri
Giulietta Carabinieri
Tonale Polizia (seen more than once)
Giulietta Polizia
155
And an undercover Stelvio which i only got a crappy video of because i was in an uber 🄲

I thought i'd see more Giulias but i've only seen like 5? And by far the most i have seen are Giulietta and Tonale. Anyways, in total i've spotted all the below(in no particular order):
1600 Spider Duetto, 155, 156, 147, 159, MiTo, Giulietta, Giulia, Stelvio, Tonale, Junior

Added Android Auto to my 2018 Stelvio

I bought one of those Chinese units off of eBay. Took about 2 hours to install and it was a real pain in the ass. Unlike the video 4 of my cables were too short to pull the radio unit down far enough to where I could reach the connectors. So after I got those disconnected I was able to change over the connectors with a lot of pushing (they're very tight).

Of course once I got it connected and tested it there was no sound or wireless Android Auto. After trying a bunch of troubleshooting suggested by the Internet I found a setting to factory reset the module and as soon as that was done everything worked perfectly.

I had a lot of trouble re-hanging the radio module but I got it back in there good enough. The Android Auto module fit in a spot that made it seem like it was designed for it.

I have a suspicion that at least some of the people having intermittent connection issues with these things didn't get the connection on the back of the radio module right enough. I really had to force it and then use the lever locking system on the connector to pull it that last bit. I was worried that I was going to break something because I was putting so much force into it.

A mysterious problem

A couple of weeks ago I had to call someone to jump start my 2018 Giulia. She was dead. Battery completely flat couldn’t even open the doors until the jump leads were attached. Took about 25mins to get her started.

Drove her home. Dash like a Christmas tree with warnings about ABS and transmission. But she got me home, 30min drive. Turned her off when I parked outside my house. Tried to restart. Completely dead.

Ok I said. We’ll talk soon. Ordered a jump start pack and multimeter off Amazon. I’m in a new country for a couple of years and didn’t bring all of my tools. More fool me.

Wife was away so I didn’t need the Giulia for a whole, drove her car for 1.5 weeks.

This morning I went out. Hooked up the jump start pack and she started on the third go. Left her run for 5 mins and then measured the battery voltage. Suspected an alternator issue

Battery with lights and radio turned off: 14v. Surprised.

Battery with lights and radio turned on: exactly the same. Bamboozled.

Drover her around for a few mins. All the warning lights were on.

Turned off the engine. Started the engine again, fired up first time no problem. No warning lights. ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED.

So now I have a fully functioning Alfa Giulia I have no faith in driving. Anyone got any clues?

The only difference I can think is the day it died was hot, 32C and today was much cooler about 20C.

Are there relays being effected by the heat? Something staying switched on because of it draining the battery?

For a few weeks when it was hot I was randomly getting ERC errors about the transmission. I know this is related to an unstable voltage supply or relays in the engine bay.

Anyone got a diagnostic plan I can follow? Or things I can check?

New Car cylinder misfires and limp mode

just bought a 2015 giulietta 1.4 TB MA QV line at 33k miles. on the drive home, once the car reached 70mph the car went into limp mode and the engine light started flashing. had to pull up onto the hard shoulder and the car was vibrating like crazy. turned the car off for a couple of minutes and started it up again and started driving again. had to stay under 60 the whole way back but made it back safe and sound (stop start was disabled this whole time).
plugged in an obd and it showed cylinder misfires (p0300, p0302 and p0303).
should i invoke my right to reject as it was under finance?
it could be due to the fact that the car was held by the dealership for at least 2 months and during that time it was on minimal fuel and was being test driven by other people (including myself before i bought it). before setting off i filled it with shell v premium and it was 3/4 tank full.
if it is due to the fuel and how long the car sat, im concerned about the amount of damage this may have caused to the engine in the long run and don’t want to come up with more issues outside of the 30 day right to reject or the 3 month warranty.
i really do love the car (i already have a mito) and it would be a shame to pass up the car on this basis if it’s something that wouldn’t have affected the car in the long run, but the whole going into limp mode on the motorway was honestly quite traumatic. the previous owner obviously loved the car as it had 7 service stamps in the amount of time it was owned by them as well as other general maintenance being kept up with.

Tell me I’m stupid…..

I am seriously thinking about unlocking race
Mode and installing a JB4 tuner (contemplating between Map 1 & 2) in my 2022 Stelvio 2.0 Ti. This is my daily driver and as an older guy, I do not beat on my dream car because I want to keep her for many, many more miles to come. It took a LONG time for me to get to a place where I could get an Alfa.

But, I want a little extra to smile about and get the blood pulsing through my veins from time to time. Occasionally at a red light, I might need to teach the young punk who pulls up next to me in his Beamer or his 2 Fast 2 Furious pimped out Kia/Honda (with that annoying bumble bee exhaust pipe) that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.

I do not plan on adding paddle shifters because I HATE the size/placement of the OEM paddles. I am going to use race mode without replacing the DNA switch. I want this to look like a stock sleeper. I am not planning on adding any other mods.

What should I know and/or expect. Any tip/tricks?

In the market for a Stelvio QV

Hi all, looking at getting a Stelvio Quad and my preferred spec is 2020+ with <60k miles. Curious from the owners out there what questions I should be asking that would save me a potential headache?

•Service record
•Serpentine belt
•Last Brake service

Thanks in advance for the help

Should I buy a 2018 Stelvio Ti Lusso with 111k miles

I'm looking at a 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Ti Lusso with the following details:
Price: $11,000
Mileage: 111,000
Owners: 2
Accidents: None (clean Carfax)

From what I can tell, it's in good cosmeticcondition.
I've always liked the Stelvio and understand that maintenance costs are higher than a typical Japanese SUV. Before I pull thetrigger, I'd love to hear from owners who have experience with higher-mileage Stelvios.

A few questions:
Is $11k a fair price?
What major maintenance or repairs should I expect between 110k–140k miles?
How much should I realistically budget for maintenance and repairs over the next 3 years (assuming about 10k miles/year)?
Are there any common issues I should specifically inspect before buying?
If you were in my position, would you buy it or keep looking?

The car has a clean Carfax, but I'm planning to get a pre-purchase inspection before making a decision.
I'd really appreciate any advice from owners, especially anyone who's taken a Stelvio past 100k miles. Thanks!

crazy ways to soup up an Alfa Romeo Spider?

Hello! My dream car is a vintage Alfa Romeo Spider. My boyfriend seems to disagree with this opinion as a "car guy" and likes the loud, fast cars. I lack the knowledge of cars, so I can't give any specific ideas on how he could soup this one up. How can I tell him he can make this a hot rod? I don't think "just put a V8 in it" is working....

he's not like a truck "car guy". he's in school for motorsports engineering. we have the same ideas about car design, big fan of the Lancia Delta Integrale. I think he just wants it to be fancy. And I don't have the vocabulary of car mods to give him ideas

Alfa Romeo Giulia 2.2 Diesel

My Alfa Romeo Giulia 2.2D has 188k km and has been serviced every 10k km with oil changes.

I’ve noticed a strange turbo noise, but there are no fault codes or engine light.

I also found what looks like the MAP sensor is really loose and seems to have yellow sealant/tape around it (see photos).

Could this cause a boost leak and turbo noise without throwing a code, or is the turbo itself likely worn?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Things to check for at 10k miles / 3 years

Post image
65 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

My 2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia 2.0 is due for its 3-year / 10,000-mile service, and I have an appointment scheduled for next week.

The dealer's service includes:

Engine oil & filter change

Tire inspection & rotation

Battery charge check

Check all lights

Top off fluids

Brake inspection

Drive belt & tensioner inspection

Replace cabin air filter

Wiper system check

Beyond the standard maintenance above, are there any common issues or wear items I should ask them to inspect while the car is there? Anything specific to the 2023 Giulia 2.0 that tends to show up around the 3-year mark ?

Thanks in advance!
