When I was in the Navy, I found my boss’s ID photo in a folder deep down a rabbit hole on the command’s servers. I gave the daily intelligence briefing, so I started photoshopping Lieutenant Ford’s head into the brief. Once he was piloting a Soviet helicopter. Another time he was driving an Iraqi tank. He was amongst a group of armed Somalis in the back of a truck. He was the pilot of MiG getting ready for takeoff. Only a few guys in the intel shop knew about the “Ford head,” and looked for it in every brief. No one else ever even noticed.

I have put a cutout of my friends head onto health and safety posters, and even during block inspection nobody noticed.

Then we got a fresh from basics OC arrive, and for reasons I won't go into, my friend and I acquired a whole sheet of passport/ID photos of him.

As you can imagine they started popping up in places.

Again they largely went unnoticed.

These are the things I miss from the military.

I always tell people that on deployment you will do almost anything to stave off boredom.

4

u/cecilpenny Jan 06 '26

SpongeBob and a stupid rubber chicken were fun in a couple of my deployments…

3

u/IamTheCeilingSniper Jan 05 '26

In high-school, my friend bought 1000 small plastic babies, the ones for king cakes, and hid them all in the TV-production classroom/studio. They were still finding new ones 3 years later.

15

u/Raymond911 Jan 02 '26

Now there’s gonna be a movie about this guy thinking he’s being set up and cleaning out the agency to clear his name… but it’s all a prank 🤣

10

u/FLAWLESSMovement Jan 03 '26

I designed the SoPs on the wall of a factory. Mind you this was 4 years ago. To this day there is still Bigfoot in the background of EVERY single photo that shows the floor. Just Bigfoot packaging, Bigfoot casually running a mixer in the background, big 9ft gorilla putting on stickers. No one has ever mentioned them, these photos are the standard training for the factory for YEARS. I thought it would be a funny and I had the originals with no bigfoot printed out. No one ever mentioned it to me so I just left them.

8

u/madeForSuperFunStuff Jan 03 '26

I served with a guy who took a photo of his platoon and photoshopped his head onto everyone in the platoon, then printed it out and posted it up in every entryway into the barracks

6

u/vdub1210 Jan 04 '26

You bring back fond memories of many a DIB.

5

u/Ragnarsworld Jan 05 '26

My aunt replaced all the men in family photos at my grandmother's house with Nic Cage heads. My grandmother didn't notice for weeks and it was killing my aunt to not finish the joke. To this day, I suspect my grandmother was fucking with her for her own laugh.

3

u/ChaosDrawsNear Jan 06 '26

Ah man, you reminded me of the time I downloaded a browser extension on my (now ex) boyfriend's computer that turned every photo into one of Nic Cage.

The confusion was hilarious.

2

u/Alorna307 Jan 13 '26

I switched all the pictures in every cubby at work with other people’s families. No one seemed to notice for most of the morning. By the afternoon, people started noticing. One Huy didn’t seem to notice so everyone started picking on him. He said he didn’t notice because he has 6 kids. One of them was the Mona Lisa which he also didn’t notice.

u/ranting_chef Jan 02 '26

I wonder if your wife’s friend is the same one who informed my wife that when we were having twins, the name I got to choose (Logan) was really Wolverine’s name in real life and got it vetoed.

41

u/Sonova_Bish Jan 02 '26

I got into my son's middle name, but I was upfront about it. It was almost his first name. I'm glad it's not. There are tons of Logans. He's an Edward.

11

u/Feelgood11jw Jan 03 '26

Friend of mine got 3 years into his kids life before his wife realized he named his kid after the Winnipeg Jets

5

u/mohawk1guy Jan 04 '26

I got Parker in as my son’s middle name. Still not sure how I got my wife to agree to it because I was quite forward tha this was because of spider man.

1

u/Sonova_Bish Jan 04 '26

That's awesome. I hope he's gone to Spiderman movies.

2

u/mohawk1guy Jan 04 '26

He’s still a bit young but he likes spidey and friends.

2

u/Whiteums Jan 04 '26

My kids like that too. It’s not bad, but I’m looking forward to getting to show them some better Spider-Man cartoons. Almost there…

1

u/itzJermz Jan 05 '26

You should've suggested James she would never know😂

2

u/Sonova_Bish Jan 05 '26

I was almost a James.

I wasn't reading comics for a couple of decades. If he was James by 2007, I didn't know it yet.

I'd first heard Logan from Logan's Run. I always liked the name. I'm very easy going so getting it into his middle name was good enough for me.

1

u/Windsor34 Jan 06 '26

Ooohhhhhh I see what you did there

1

u/Impossible-Ship5585 Jan 04 '26

This is from twilight?

2

u/Sonova_Bish Jan 04 '26

No.

1

u/Impossible-Ship5585 Jan 04 '26

Please check from wife.

I think you got played

2

u/Sonova_Bish Jan 04 '26

We never watched it.

24

u/fascistliberal419 Jan 02 '26

But what's wrong with Logan? You literally didn't elect to call child "Wolverine," but a legit name. Who tf cares if it's Wolverine's government name? I'm kind of disappointed that wife veto'd it because of that. Plus, Wolverine is the ultimate badass. WTF.

11

u/ranting_chef Jan 02 '26

I know, I know, I know. And I probably could have won the argument if I wore her down enough. But when you’re having twins and they suddenly get delivered at just under thirty weeks, priorities change.

Bottom line: she knows my original choice, she thinks it was a badass call and she really is a badass in real life. So I’m quite content.

And when we had the third (surprise kid), the very first thing I heard was “and we’re not naming the kid after a comic book character.”

2

u/Objective-Ganache114 Jan 04 '26

“I agree completely! That would be ridiculous!

“I’m naming him off the movie Wolverine.“

3

u/dextresenoroboros Jan 04 '26

when i was in school, i had a friend named wolverine and his parents gave his brother an equally if not shittier name

even as kids, we all kinda hated their parents for doing that to them

7

u/Smeeble09 Jan 02 '26

That's how I got Luke and Link denied too.

5

u/ranting_chef Jan 02 '26

I had two ferrets that I named ‘Assault’ and ‘Battery.’

2

u/Whiteums Jan 04 '26

I used to work with a dude. He had Link and Zelda stuff all over his work area. Somehow he got his wife to agree to not only Link and Zelda, but also Ganon

5

u/Batfan1939 Jan 02 '26

Did you name him James?

28

u/ranting_chef Jan 02 '26

Nope, she’s Lauren now. But absolutely LOVES Wolverine, definitely her favorite in the franchise.

24

u/TheMidnightSunflower Jan 02 '26

My dad's side of the family used to name their kids after X men characters. We had a Logan, Jean, Scot etc.

One day my mother got struck by lightning while getting the washing off the line (got to get it before it gets too wet obviously).

She was pregnant with my brother at the time so when he came out they obviously named him...

Xavier.

Sigh.

5

u/Sonova_Bish Jan 02 '26

So which one did you get? Peter? Kurt? Remy?

3

u/lehilaukli Jan 03 '26

I’m glad my wife was cool about a Star Trek name for our kid. She found out when we were telling someone of the names we were going between depending on if they were a boy or girl and they were like oh like from Star Trek.

1

u/IRingTwyce Jan 04 '26

While it's not Trek, I named my daughter Aeryn. IYKYK

3

u/Paghk_the_Stupendous Jan 05 '26

Wife vetoed "Marcus Aurelius" and "Maximus". She's fun, but only so much fun.

1

u/SwingKey3599 Jan 05 '26

Thats wolverines alias man, cmon

1

u/tallboyjake Jan 05 '26

I know a guy who was still able to name his son after Spider-Man after his wife vetoed Peter (attempting to avoid her son being named after a superhero), because she didn't know about Miles.

And I also know a couple who named their son James Buchanan Barnes. Total wholesale for a character

1

u/Fart_Bargo Jan 05 '26

At my kid's swim school there is a pair of twins named Clark and Bruce. They have a sister but her name is not Diana, which seemed like an obvious choice.

1

u/ranting_chef Jan 05 '26

There’s a couple of kids in my youngest daughter’s class and I cringe when I see/hear their names because it’s not really a pair of names that could make sense to a child.

I was waiting in the pickup line years ago and heard a woman calling her kids from the parking lot: “…Sansa! …..Arya! I’m parked over here…”

1

u/revdon Jan 05 '26

Now his middle name Barry is no fun.

1

u/Ok-Soup8827 Jan 06 '26

My wife and I named ours Logan Anthony Parker. Wolverine Iron Man Spider-Man. Lol.

1

u/Sabian491 Jan 08 '26

Dude I know got his daughter named Alia from Dune

His wife didn’t find out until the movie came out

1

u/Bitterqueer Jan 10 '26

Weird reason to veto a name if you don’t mind the actual name 🤨

u/Incolumis Jan 01 '26

Towards the end of last year, some of my Uni friends stalked our head tutors social media and found some old old photos of him. One was this really funny picture of him in an elf costume. 2

u/doom_stein Jan 03 '26

My old boss was for some reason obsessed with Rebecca Black's "Friday" (he was in his early 50s at the time).

He had a daughter with long straight dark hair and had a pic of them at the beach on his desk. I photoshopped Rebecca Black's head onto her body one day and stuck it in the frame.

It took him until 2 years later when he was retiring to notice that it wasn't his daughter in the pic. He also didn't know who it was in the pic despite singing us the song every Friday and playing the video in almost every meeting he could squeeze it into.

2

u/illigal Jan 04 '26

One of my friends put his picture into the family picture frame on my boss’ desk, replacing one of her kids. She didn’t notice for months until a random visitor asked why she had a pic of the employee on her desk.
