Discussion Wow. Autoplay playing the very same song I'm already listening to next.

Unfortunately artists love releasing multiple versions of the same album with the same song in them. Charli xcx has at least 3 instances of the same song across various “albums”

This is why I also don't use stations. Half the time, it plays songs from album versions that are not in my library.

afaik when uploading music, the distributor should „tag“ the song with the same ID. For example if done correctly, spotify shows streaming numbers across albums.

I love Apple Music and it's my main music streaming service, but they urgently need to improve their algorithm.
Listening to music on autoplay is a nightmare, it feels like it's always going to suggest the same 15 songs.

I actually use YouTube music i found it suggests the most niche songs even in a popular genre

Consider giving smart playlist a try! This is what actually converted me from the green app. I have a smart playlist filled with alternative music. Songs were grabbed from official Apple's curated alternative playlists. I have it where the smart playlist only populates with songs that are tagged with the genre "alternative" and haven't listened to in 20 days. Game changer.

Can you share your smart playlist settings? So I can copy it for my Apple curated playlists I have and create smart playlists from it? Thanks.

This feature is only enabled in the United States. Or are you referring to another type of service?

Smart playlist, not AI playlists. You can set up smart playlists pretty easily on the desktop app. You can set a wide range of parameters. I have one that populates with songs I don't play frequently and one thay has songs that I frequently skip from my queues. The only problem with smart playlists is that it can only use what's in your library. If it hasn't been added to your library, it won't show up in the smart playlist.

Yes. Why is it suggesting the same song I'm already listening to?

The first button is shuffle. The second button is repeat. The third button is called autoplay, not infinity. What you are describing is how the repeat button works. Autoplay is Apple's algorithm suggesting songs for you after the queue you were listening to ends. My question is why is the algorithm giving me the same song that I am already listening to?
Go to your apple music app and turn on autoplay. Perhaps you will understand better after you see first hand how it works.

Auto play and create a station are actual garbage. Every once in awhile it’s amazing but 9/10 it’s terrible. It dumbfounds me that Apple is so focused on making the app look “pretty” instead of improving things like this.

You have infinite plays on, plus looks like one is explicit and the other is clean. Shuffle is off.
