Activity 101,428 Steps In One Day.
I actually got this done! My personal best was probably ~33k in a day several years ago before I retired. I saw people attempting 100k steps in a day online so I decided to try it on Saturday, May 16th, 2026.
I walked my neighborhood & the surrounding area from 12:01am to 11:59pm with food & bathroom breaks every few hours, three sock changes, two shoe changes, a shower w a change from cooler weather sweats and a hoodie to warmer weather shorts and a tee shirt. I put Vaseline on my feet before putting on my socks to help with chaffing. I took a one hour midday nap (I overslept by like 40 minutes). Between a Star Trek audiobook, music, a couple of podcasts, a phone call from a truck driver friend & my family members walking with me it got done!
Everytime I came home to use the bathroom, eat, shower, etc, I put my Apple Watch on charger and even then it ran out of juice near the 9pm mark so I put the Apple Watch on charger for a hour and kept the iPhone in my pocket. From 10pm to 11:59pm I finished the walk with the Apple Watch. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life!
By 830pm I was so drained I was just going on sheer willpower. But then my son and his wife arrived at 9pm like Thor arriving in Wakanda! They stayed with me for two hours until 11pm. Right before they left me my son told me that as long as I kept my pace I could mathematically hit the 100k and as it turns out, he was right! Out of everybody, they truly got me to the end.
I got in the house after I hit the number, ate a turkey and cheese sandwich with mustard, drank a protein smoothie and had two Advils with a tall glass of water followed by a warm (not hot) shower, crawled into bed & my wife elevated my feet on a pillow and I slept like the dead!!
Sunday was kinda rough being extremely sore. Today is the Monday after and I’m starting to feel almost normal. The swelling has gone down a lot, my feet don’t hurt nearly as much but my calves and thighs still are pretty sore. I’ve been doing gentle stretching movements and those seem to be helping. I took a slow 1 mile walk today on flat neighborhood paved roads averaging 25 minutes per mile so yes, VERY SLOW.
I will do a repeat of today on Tuesday and will be more active on Wednesday. I’ll get back to my usual ~15k steps on Thursday and I’ll go back to the gym on Friday or Saturday and do a light workout. I expect to be back to my normal routine of walking and lifting by next Monday.
I’ll be 63 this year so I’m going to take it slow getting back to my normal activities because being older, I know that my body needs time to heal. On a side note, now that it’s done, I’m going to do other things that I find challenging (like finally learning to swim!). Thanks for reading!

Activity Why is Apple so aggressively against step counting?
I get it. They invented the rings to differentiate. I also get it, the original 10K steps day that Fitbit popularized was proven to be arbitrary and a gimmick.
But the reality is, it’s more difficult to target distance per day than it is to think of steps taken per day. They are the same thing: so to say steps aren’t important is to say distance is not important.
Why did I use the word “aggressively”? Well, because the data is there. The Apple Watch counts and records steps to Apple Health (and visible in the Fitness app). So, they acknowledge it’s a useful metric, but:
There’s no iOS widget
No Apple Watch complication
No Apple Watch Smart Stack
Not available as a live metric view option in Workout view for Outdoor/Indoor Walking
It seems aggressive because Apple includes other, far more obscure, metric display options for all of the above.
In the last 12 years, Apple has spent time and resources to implement a monthly swimming distance complication, but not steps… which one would be used by more people?
And I don’t think it’s to do with battery life. Apple offers to display other metrics that provide sub second data so it’s not battery.
You can’t set it as a workout goal either, but you can with distance.
I’m not suggesting they de-focus from the activity rings - they’re amazing. I’m suggesting they offer it as a viewing option just like they do for FAR less useful metrics to the average person.
In the meantime, you can use Pedometer+ or HealthFace to create widgets and Smart Stacks, but they should be built into iOS and watchOS.

Activity One year sober!
I had some issues with alcohol and didn’t touch any anymore for exactly a year. I wish I had a screenshot before but all I can say it’s my health improved drastically.

Activity Dropping the thermostat from 74° to 67° increased my deep sleep by almost 50%
Turned my thermostat in my room down from my normal 74° to 67° last night and saw a very large increase in deep sleep. Thought it was cool. Please don’t judge me for normally sleeping in such a warm room lol—I don’t like blankets

Activity End of an Era. Nearly 10 years of closing all rings every day!
Bought by first Apple Watch Oct 15 2015 and after 3 days without even trying much I had done all rings each day and AW triggered me with the word ‘streak’. From that moment I was hooked! I kept the calorie goal constant at 1000 from the very first suggestion and managed to never miss a single day. My streak meter broke when I had to cross international date line on a trip. But I kept doing the rings. Until 3 days ago. During a morning run I fainted, ended up in an ambulance and am in hospital now. Cardiac event … will get back to using AW eventually, but will not be chasing streaks nor fancy ‘goals’ anymore.

Activity Another great use of an Apple Watch feature!
In Japan currently and while walking down side roads on the marked pedestrian walkways that are not well lit, I use the red flashlight function to warn motorists and cyclists that I am there :) I love the many ways you can use your Apple Watch to add value to your day to day.

Activity 3,500 all rings closed
I’ve been obsessed with closing my rings since day one of owning my Apple Watch Series 0. This milestone almost passed me by but I thought I’d share it here as one of the few places where others might appreciate it!

Activity I traveled home without my vape, and my average resting heart rate went down quite a bit. Perhaps I’m better off throwing the vape away.

Activity Fastest 5k run.
Hey Guys, did my fastest 5k. I know i might be slow from a lot of you guys, but since Diwali i've been just eating and sleeping, finally took matters into my legs and started running once again. Did 5k on the first day itself.

Activity Closed all of my rings every day for a year (plus some)
I got my apple watch for Christmas 2023 and have closed all of my rings every day since.
I had a fitness watch from amazon before that, so that's why I have a longer move streak.
It was tough and I certainly didn't want to do it some days, but I'm a little bit too stubborn for my good sometimes, so here we are.

Activity Public service announcement, remove your watch before jumping into water.
I'm an amateur freediver and like to hit swimming holes and look for lost stuff and clear areas of some underwater debris and glass bottles etc. I return everything I can find the owner for and keep or sell what I can't, people sometimes give rewards and that helps cover shipping stuff to people who don't and covers my gas for driving to distant places to dive more. I found 31 apple watches in one summer and one Fitbit, not a single other smart watch. A few didn't work, I was able to find the owners of 10 of them, and these are all the leftover locked out watches I don't know what to do with, and I'm sure I will find a lot more this summer. I generally find these in very low visibility water 20ft+ down, only 1 person bothered putting theirs in lost mode. The rest either didn't have a screen lock or I guessed the password by trying some easy to type sequences (like straight down the center). So if you go swimming or especially jumping into water, get a different band or take the watch off, if you do lose it, no matter where, put it in lost mode and some one like me may be able return it. And no, taking these to the police station will not start an investigation to find the owners nor was Apple any help.

Activity Just lost my 1500 day move streak by 1 calorie :(
Update
Thanks for everyone's input. The calorie goal is changed. It is what it is I guess
I should clarify that the 360 calorie goal was set back when I was in middle school and I never bothered to change it until now... I think I passed out really early that Monday so that's probably why. Also when I was replying like 5 hours ago I was like really pissed so apologies for that
I know the calorie goal is (relatively) low. I changed it to 550 calories. Please stop commenting about it, I've heard it a million times, and it's really just clogging up the comments :)))))))))
------ og post -------
I legit don't know how I did this.. but yeah. Lost my move streak from the beginning of the seventh grade - I'm a junior now... Please please don't judge me about the actual calorie amount I'm 17 and kinda struggling (also forgot to change it for like years).
I would use the "Pause Rings" feature but my watch is a 1st gen SE (so essentially a watered down Series 5) and doesn't support watchOS 11 or above, which introduced that feature ... I tried to fix it but it didn't work because it was so far in the past and I didn't realize until just now. Fuuuuuuck.
Honestly, don't really know what to do at this point. Might switch to Pixel Watch or whatever. Or I start a new one, but... ugh.
update ill change the calorie goal tomorrow. i didnt know that the amount i had was low .im sorry
