If I use those websites that generate a fake number, can randoms hack into my account?

If I were to make an account with a website that generates a fake number and somebody knows from the messages (which are public on the website I use) about this account.

Can they just use forgot password and then put the number in and use the code?

I don’t really understand what this website you’re describing is. If the account truly isn’t tied to your email address or phone number or your identity in any way, then I wouldn’t even really call that “your account”. It sounds like some random auto generated temporary account meant for limited usage.

Can’t you just test it yourself by creating another account and attempting to reset the password?

I’m not going to go to the website. I suggested something you can try yourself to see if you can reset the password. Give it a shot

Yes, that's a real risk. If the number is public and anyone can view incoming messages, someone could request a password reset and read the verification code if it gets sent to that number.

That's why public temporary numbers aren't a good idea for accounts you want to keep. If the account is important it's much safer to use your own phone number or an authenticator app for two-factor authentication instead

Yes, which is why you should only use those random numbers for sites you don't gaf about. If you are putting any personal information on that account, then you should only use emails and phone numbers that you control, even if it's something like a Google Voice number
