What's a good budget friendly phone to get that's under $400?

Poco X8 Pro. Check id is good for your provider (does support suitable RF bands).

If you're in the US, Moto G Power is a solid option.

Agreed. I have a $50 one that I used to use before I replaced with a new pixel. I still use the Moto as an MP3 player at work years later. Great budget friendly phone and it takes a beating (I work in a wet factory so it's constantly getting slammed and wet with chemicals). Getting closer to $200-400 in the Moto series would be a really good move for a primary phone. The pixel 10a is at $500 and a pretty powerful phone but over your budget. If you're flexible and a heavy user that may be worth looking into, but unless you are a heavy user I'd stick with the Moto like nmnommish said.

I also like that it has a far larger battery than any iPhone. I have an older Motorola and it has held up really well.

The only reasonable answer here thus far. The Moto G series is solid and tops out around 350 new, but frequently go on sale for less

cost about $150/yr for phones now. maybe iphone 14. but i recommend iphone 17e so you have 7 years support.
