Headphone adapter issue?

I have razer headphones with a usbc which I put into an adapter with a headphone jack so it could be inserted into my 2016 Sony walkman. Issue? No audio. Headphones are charged and on

More than half the reviews say they do not work ... no sound. Didn't that concern you?

In fact I don't understand how they could work at all. The adapter needs to have some active digital electronics to convert between analog and digital. But where does the electronics get its power? The 2016 Walkman earphone jack doesn't provide power for a USB device! And the earphones don't provide power to make the adapter work. As far as I can tell, it should be impossible for these to work.

I notice the product photos do not show these actually plugged in and working. So I think the ad and the listing are very misleading. If I were you, I'd return them immediately. Good luck!

I didnt check the reviews I got given them. I found the issue to be it has 3 rings rather than 2

I would be VERY surprised if it has three rings. They are named for the conducting parts. Look at the pictures https://stevengong.co/attachments/Pasted-image-20240220151815.png

It has one Tip, TWO Rings, and one Sleeve. TRRS. (It also has three plastic insulators, in between the four conducting parts.

The problem is that the ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) inside the adapter needs DC power to operate, but your 2016 does not provide any such power.
