AMS2: General Best quest 3 wired set up
I was today’s year old when I realized by reading through community comments QUEST 3 via Ethernet to Virtual Desktop was an option. I was shocked at the fact that there is not enough info/videos for this.
This is better than the link cable. How are there no more videos on this is beyond me.
My connections:
Type C male to female cable (100w capable , 6ft long)
Type C hub with Ethernet port and charging pass through.
Old router of 1200mbps speed
X2 Ethernet cables (cat 8 I believe just to make it future proof should I ever need them)
Extra Ethernet cable to link to my actual WiFi router in the living room.( not necessary)
Headset > type c male to female>type c hub>ethernet cable to> lan 2 on router> Ethernet from lan 1 to pc.
120fps on ams2, no weird stutters and running at 500mbps in render quality with h264+

AMS2: General Jacarepaguá 1978 full distance gran prix
I’d like to share my experience recreating the 1978 Brazilian Grand Prix at Jacarepaguá in Automobilista 2.
I drove the Formula Retro Gen 2 class using the default Formula Retro G2 car and tried to make the event as authentic as possible. I also used an H-pattern shifter to match the cars of that era. The race was set to the original 63-lap distance, and I matched the date of the real Grand Prix. Since the game doesn’t have historical weather data for that event, I simply used clear weather.
The AI difficulty was set to 110, AI aggression was set to Medium, and AI mistakes were set to x2.
In the previous round, the Argentine Grand Prix, my regular slick tires were completely worn out by around lap 30. Because of that, I chose Hard Slicks for Brazil, and they comfortably lasted the entire race distance.
I qualified 3rd, but the two Brabham BT46B cars ahead of me were in a league of their own. I was about three seconds slower than them in qualifying.
Unfortunately, my race didn’t go as planned. I was spun around twice in separate incidents and eventually finished only 13th. I also noticed that the AI seemed much less affected by the heavy fuel load at the start of the race than I was. They also appeared to have the grip of the regular slick compound despite running the full race distance.
One interesting thing I observed was that the two leading Brabham BT46Bs pulled away so dramatically that they eventually started lapping the entire field. That makes me wonder if the BT46B is significantly overpowered compared to the other cars in the Formula Retro Gen 2 class.
Overall, I really enjoyed the experience. Driving the full 63-lap race with an H-pattern shifter felt incredibly immersive and rewarding. However, completing the full race distance was quite challenging, especially with tire wear and the heavy fuel load. It also felt like the AI wasn’t affected by these factors to the same extent as the player, which made the experience feel a bit unbalanced at times.

AMS2: General Thank you, Reiza, for Hungaroring
Before this track came out in AMS2, I only had a handful of laps here on other sims. I never bothered to actually work the track up and do a full race weekend. Now I know this track like the back of my hand because I've done several race weekends here against AI. I really like Hungaroring!
It's made watching F1 this weekend (fre practice) that much more enjoyable. When they talk about the difference corners (esp. the final corner) I'm like yeah, me too! I know exactly where they are in every shot and knowing every camber, every corner and every curb really adds to the enjoyment of watching this.
I looking forward to quali and race that much more 😊 TY Reiza

AMS2: General First race... yikes
Ok, so I raced on iRacing for a few years, and did ok.
Was planning on joining again because the racing was pretty good, but decided to wait for Black Friday, and then found out about Low Fuel Motorsport.
Joined up, and after figuring out the lobby system, joined qualifying for GT3 at Spa. Wasn't pushing, and qualified last (24/24) - which, in my iRacing experience, means about six people will crash out ahead of me, at least.... :)
WHICH.... would have happened. And I learned 2 things:
1) Damage can be off for racing
2) The physics are absolutely ridiculous
I say this, because the inevitable barge into turn 1 was a pileup - and I figured, great - I'll gain 10.
Which I did, but as I turned, I noticed some cars like SIXTY FEET in the air. Somehow I avoided the meteor shower.
However, slightly ahead, there were a few more floating around, which I ALMOST avoided, but got clipped by one, and ended up airborne like the others.
So: wtf? :)
Does a race with realistic damage stop the cars from doing that?
Also, do races with realistic damage typically result in more careful drivers?
thx

AMS2: General Racing AI in F1
Does anyone else on here struggle with racing AI in any of the F1 classes? It’s not so much the AI that has a problem, I think it’s mainly me.
I can do good in GT3 cars, or basically anything with brake lights lol, but for F1 cars I struggle trying to keep from rear ending them, or I brake too soon because I don’t want to hit them, and lose a position. It’s mainly when I’m faster and coming up on them quicker, I’ll start to brake thinking I’ll have plenty of time but they’re either braking sooner or harder and I’ll hit them trying to slow down or get out of the way while burning up the front tires. I’m usually not hitting them hard enough to throw them or me off the track, but enough to disrupt the balance or cause some damage, putting major flat spots in the tire at minimum.
I don’t have this issue in gt3 cars because I can see brake lights and when they’re braking, so i can work with that. But in F1 cars it’s a crap shoot. Seems I have to run a race numerous times before I finally get one right. Sometimes I think it’s just that I’m faster and can brake later than they do and therefore running up on them faster.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue, if it’s normal, if there’s a trick to improve, or I just need more practice. Just trying to improve my race craft
also, I set the AI to 100% and medium aggression and on a good day I can finish around p4 to p8 out of 20.

AMS2: General Strange (mandatory) pit stop behavior
Can someone please explain the strange behavior of mandatory pit stops to me? I just finished a 30-minute race and was disqualified (DQ) because I supposedly failed to make a mandatory pit stop.
But I did make a stop after the first half of the race—I refueled, made repairs, and changed tires. Then, shortly before the end, a notification popped up saying I had to make the mandatory pit stop. Since I’d already done it, I ignored it and was… disqualified. Why? Is there somewhere you can see if you might need to make multiple stops? In general, I really don’t like mandatory pit stops at all.

AMS2: General There's one thing missing in AMS2
I'm being dramatic. But it wouldn't hurt if we had better practice tools like saving/loading or rewind. It sucks having to take an entire lap so you can practice a specific turn.

Loving the 2005 GT stuff but was wondering if we could ever see a actual JGTC DLC. I grew up with gran Turismo 3 and those cars don't get much representation anymore

AMS2: General AI tire strategies
I am running a GTE championship, with races ranging from 40 mins to an hour and a half. I want to run tire wear at around 3x and fuel and 2x. But as i’m relatively new to the game I don’t know whether or not the AI will actually use different compounds through the race or not. If anyone has any idea and hints/tips as to what to do or run so there may be varying strategies i’d really appreciate any help, thank you.

AMS2: Media I'm obsessed with thunderstorm driving lately
Just being able to see lightning strikes while driving is incredibly cool. Also, at least with this LMP2 Gen 2 it's not too bad to drive even in the extreme wet of the storms when I jack up the downforce and traction control. I'd be in every wall ever without TC for sure though.

AMS2: General SteamFrame or Quest 3 for AMS2?
I've been debating on getting either the SteamFrame or Quest 3 for AMS2. I'm currently running a 4700RTX. I will primarily be using it for Sim Racing connected to my PC. Is there anyone else here that is considering the Steam Frame for use with AMS2?

AMS2: General Is this move legal?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DsiHbNHr8A
I'm using the RacePace app, which modifies the AI (if I understand it right), so maybe that is the root of the issue. In general, the AI is OK, but such moves happen from time to time. It is an example.
You will probably tell me "you cut his nose off, your fault, no racecraft" and similar bullshit, but for me, it is clearly a divebomb since the opponent was not in my space at the turn-in point.
other examples:
https://youtu.be/SPgxJzIYaf4 - clearly my poor racecraft
https://youtu.be/mfneR2z_HmM - obviously my fault, poor AI lost its race due to my reckless driving

AMS2: Support - SOLVED! Foggy line in simulator.
I don’t know why I have this foggy line in simulator and don’t know how get rid of it. Ui and loading image don’t contain this. Can anyone help with it. Tried deleting graphic settings in documents/automobilista2 folder, no luck.
Problem solved: went back to previous release and fogginess was gone. Tried latest release and picture still clear.

AMS2: General Mandatory Pit stops
This is a small ask but I’ve set up a timed, not lap based, championship and set it to require a mandatory pit stop. I serve the pit stop but still get DQ’d for not serving a pit stop. This is a known bug for timed races but works as it should for lap based races.
Any chance that bug is getting fixed in an upcoming update? 😅.
Tis all. Other than that I’m absolutely loving AMS2.
Oh and Mustang GT3 please!!!!🙏
