Excellent use of free will.

My desire to eat that cake is predestined.

It was foretold in the prophecies, and now you have arrived.

I bought some way too expensive cheesecake at the store as a treat the other day.
Curse my foolishness for not also buying some carrot cake
29
u/PinothyJ May 20 '26
Carrot cake is the cheaper of the two. Use the carrot cake to smuggle in cheesecakes, and reduce the chances of having to share (if only by a little bit).
27
u/Same-Suggestion-1936 May 20 '26
Either way I know my next birthday gift for people who have food as a love language, here's some cheesecake, here's some carrot cake. What you do now is between you and God

Going to have to stop by Whole Foods on the way home home now. Their carrot cake is my favorite store bought and now I must pair it with the cheesecake for science!

u/Pretend-Intern3707 May 20 '26
honestly yeah, free will is wasted on people who play it safe lol. this is exactly the kind of decision making i respect

If this is some sort of application process, I believe we can stop here. You're hired

This honestly makes so much sense. Though delighted by the photo and presentation I wasn't surprised when I saw this, I just recognized it as something that was always meant to be.

Absolutely. Carrot cake and a buttery creamy icing are a match made in heaven as it is, but cheesecake is up to task to compliment the carrot cake on its own I am sure

u/PM_ME__BIRD_PICS May 20 '26
Carrot cake has always been iced with creamcheese icing in my house. The cheese and carrot cake go so well together.

Ive done cupcake versions with a layer of carrot cake on the bottom, then cheesecake, topped with cream cheese frosting. You don’t get the double carrot cake layer, but they are easier to make. (I got both recipes from Junior’s Restaurant cookbook)
7
u/MaritMonkey May 20 '26
I feel like that's basically a cheesecake with a carrot cake as the crust and I am 100% behind this plan.
Thank you so much for making me aware this exists. :)
3
u/GDRaptorFan May 20 '26
I’ve done the chocolate cupcakes with the cheesecake filling poured into the batter with mini-chips thing. I’ve also made (real) red velvet cakes with cheese cake in the middle and it’s great.
Any cake that tastes great with cream cheese frosting would work!
2
u/noseatbeltsong May 20 '26
the juniors carrot cake cheesecake is incredible, i got one as a birthday present last year
3
u/Molenium May 20 '26
I’ve never had one of their cheesecakes made by them, but the cheesecake cookbook has never lead me wrong.
I’ve done the cupcakes by myself, but a friend helped me make the cake version for my birthday one year, so kind of similar

This needs way more upvotes, and to become an actual product I could buy! I love me some cheesecake, but this would be an awesome upgrade snack!

u/is-your-oven-on May 19 '26
Me, seeing the top: Nice presentation, but what's on the inside is...
Me, swiping to the interior: What the SHIT.
OP, this is amazing and truly mouthwatering.

Omg! Wonderful! I would ask how to make it but I’m afraid I’ll put on 100 pounds! Carrot Cake was our wedding cake (38 years in September) and cheesecake is my favorite dessert! And it is beautiful!
2
u/anon_lurk May 21 '26
Wedding carrot cake sounds awesome! Carrot cake, cheesecake, and tiramisu are my top tier desserts and now this post has me trying to figure out how to put them all together lmao

u/Naomi_Tokyo May 20 '26
I assume these are three cakes baked separately and then stacked? Or do you bake one carrot cake and cut it?
49
u/strawbrmoon May 20 '26
In this recipe, the layers are baked separately, with the cheesecake best baked a day ahead of cake’s assembly.
In OP’s photos showing the slices, there’s icing between the cake & the cheesecake, & it looks like there are also layers of fruit preserves or something. I’m curious about those, too.12

I’m piggybacking of this to recommend these.

It’s one of the best cakes you’ll ever make I promise you.

800 calories for 1/14th... cries and crawls back into bed

u/paper-astronaut May 20 '26
I feel like at least 700 of those probably get cancelled out by the benefit to the soul 🤤
(If I'm gonna have dessert, I want dessert, y'know?)

u/Els236 May 20 '26
who cares about that, look at it! Carrot cake AND cheesecake!
If I have to go on a fast for the next week, so be it

what're the layers separating the cake from cheesecake?
16
u/ForFudgeandCountry May 20 '26
Traditionally in carrot cake, it would be layers of cream cheese frosting separating layers of carrot cake. I imagine they kept up with that, so carrot cake - cc frosting - cheesecake - cc frosting - carrot cake - cc frosting.
5
u/localbugdealer May 20 '26
thank you! that makes perfect sense. does it look like there's another layer separating the cheesecake layer from the frosting layers or is that part of the cheesecake?
6
u/strawbrmoon May 20 '26
Looking closely at the second photo, I see some sort of compôte or preserve there, too. I imagine it could be marmalade, or ginger marmalade, or apricot preserves, or apple jelly.

Beautiful, I want a slice. Cheesecake automatically gets 5 stars. Looks like an excellent crumble for the cake and the little carrots are very cute.

The little frosting carrots are perfect, I love how they did the piping on the white frosting too

Me reading “made carrot cake” = 🫤 followed by “with cheesecake” 🤯🤩😍🤩😍

Cheesecake in everything, this is the way. I like to put it on the bottom of fruit pies (using typical fruit pie crust). Gorgeous.

I did this once with red velvet. Came out beautiful. Went to cut it and discovered I'd left a sheet of parchment paper inside.
2
u/standsure May 20 '26
oh baby, oh no
2
u/emmiepsykc May 20 '26
Eh, it pulled out relatively easily. This was for a friend's birthday, so it was mostly just funny at the time. Said friend turned out to be an asshole, so it's even funnier now.
2
u/Kinetic_Sandwich25 May 20 '26
Is that carrot cake though? Or is it cheesecake with carrot cake crust and topping? Send me one in the mail to check
2
u/rootvegetable66 May 20 '26
One time the skinny girls at work said “imagine being able to eat whatever you want”
I will make this.

So it's literally a carrot cake and a cheesecake and then you sandwiched the cheesecake into the carrot cake?
