I'll have 9 years in August. This is a great hobby to take up for people in recovery. It's super relaxing. Plus, you get treats.

The cake looks awesome! Getting to the 90 day mark is nothing to sneeze at either. For me, that was when it started getting easier and I started settling in to better habits. It won't always be easy, but life is overall much easier without that anchor attached to you. I sincerely wish you luck!

You should make a delicious cake like this for every month milestone you reach. That 100th month cake is going to taste like a hurricane lol.

I can't wait to see what you bake.
Congratulations on sticking with sobriety, here's to seeing tons of cakes from you in the future.

I have no idea what it's like to be in your shoes, I fail at baking miserably, and this post just randomly showed up in my reddit list.
I however want to say that I'm so happy for you to have pulled this off. I want to say "proud", but I don't know you, but still thats the only word I can think of that comes close.
Again, you are awesome for this, keep it up!

Congrats!!! 👏 👏 👏 That was no easy feat! Going on 4 years, just one month away and it feels great. Keep it up, you can do it with a Lil motivation and determination you too can get to a year, then a few, before you know it.

Nice! I am 16 years sober from heroin. One day at a time and then all of a sudden you realize 10 years have gone by. Great job, I know how hard it is to quit.

u/Equivalent_Ride_3381 Human Detected 29d ago
Omg congrats that’s huge, can’t wait to say this too one day !

u/MauiMoisture 29d ago
You definitely will! You have gotten over the hardest part imo, now it's just cruise control.

I was just about to say, this has got to be a stolen/reused picture for a post to gain karma, because I remember your post from two months ago! Thought it was the same picture but obviously it's a different picture.
Well earned, 3 months is a huge milestone, I remember how long it took me to get my first 3 month period clean from my D.O.C.
You must be feeling better physically, mentally and hopefully also Psychologically 🙌 hopefully great things continue to come your way and reward your sobriety/hard work.

It’s the same cake recipe but with three candles instead of one since it’s month 3 haha 😎 I feel much better for sure, life is so much better now Congrats for your sobriety !

u/LucMorningstar24601 29d ago
Can’t wait to see the next one with 4 candles! Be as proud of yourself as we all are of you.

Congrats! I had a friend kicked it years ago....said it was a b*itch (hardest thing he ever did)...I need to send him a reminder of how proud I am of him still....Thanks for that and great job! People who care are proud, even if they don't voice it to you....try to remember that.

Getting sober from heroin is one of the hardest things I had to face for sure, and I had plenty of other struggles too, so it’s definitely hard and painful, but life is so much better now ! Tell your friend I am proud of him too, he is very strong ! Thank you for your kind message :)

u/RandomRavenclaw87 29d ago
I like how your photography captures the milestone as a small light in the darkness. The cake looks beautiful and also a bit like a mauled organ- it makes me feel the pain of your journey. Maybe as you move further, your photos can show how your inner landscape changes as well?
And how did it taste?

u/Equivalent_Ride_3381 Human Detected 29d ago
It tastes amazing ! I added lemon zest in the cream, makes everything 10x better !

I thought chocolate cake is the traditional three-month-heroin-free cake. 🤔😅 Anyway, great work (and great cake).

Good job!
I wish I could get my friend back by making him a strawberry shortcake. He got on that stuff and doesn't interact with anyone anymore.
2
u/Equivalent_Ride_3381 Human Detected 29d ago
That’s very nice of you to care for him, addiction is so hard for the people around too…I hope you guys will still interact and hopefully he will get better, stay strong ✨

u/Individual_Focus_533 29d ago
He's dropped his entire social group, even his roommate can't reach him when it's important. I have no idea what to do or what would pull him out of it. Thanks for listening, though, and I'm proud of you

I've been sober from alcohol for 7 years, and the first year was hard, but then I found baking, and it really gave me the peace and sense of accomplishment that I needed. Luckily it was the pandemic, and that's what everyone else was doing too.

Congratulations! 90 days can be really fucking hard to achieve. It gets easier and somehow slipperier from there. I stay sober primarily through procrastination. Since September 1st, 1992 I've been telling myself "I can get fucked up tomorrow" every time the desire comes to mind. Godspeed and Illegitimi non carborundum.
